Although these people are related to her by blood, Zhuang Nai Nai does not consider any of them as family.
Gu De Shou asking Gu Xing Hao to lead Si Zheng Ting away means that he has something to say to her privately. She wants to see what he wants to say to her.
After lunch, Gu Xing Hao weakly invites Si Zheng Ting to visit the garden. Si Zheng Ting looks at her for permission.
Zhuang Nai Nai never knows that once Si Zheng Ting decides to be nice to someone, he will do it in his best effort. The feeling he gives her is so warm that she almost think she is dreaming.
After she nods at him, he gets up from his seat. Instead of following Gu Xing Hao, he turns to Gu De Shou first, “I will leave Nai Nai with you, for now. Please take care of her.”
The words sound very polite, but the underlying meaning is: I will leave for now, but if there is as little as a single hair out of place on my wife’s head, you will have me to answer to.
Gu De Shou feels a chill running through his back. After Si Zheng Ting left, he turns to Zhuang Nai Nai, his attitude considerably warmer, “Qing Yan, let’s talk in the study room upstairs.”
After saying that, he turns to Gu Xing Shan, “Go and make tea for your sister!”
Gu Xing Shan’s face turns rigid as she grits her teeth.
Zhuang Nai Nai follows Gu De Shou to the study upstairs where he gives her a file, “Qing Yan, 20% of our shares in Gu Enterprise has been transferred under your name. I promised you this as your dowry.”
Zhuang Nai Nai accepts the file, though without any enthusiastic reaction of someone who has just gotten rich. Instead, her heart becomes heavy.
He will not give this to her this easily. If possible, she really does not want to accept this.
She puts the file on the table in front of her before bitterly asking, “What about my mother? Where are you hiding her?”
Just as she says that, the door is pushed open.
Li Yu Feng walks in carrying a tray containing two cups of tea. Her originally amiable face turns frozen when she hears what Zhuang Nai Nai said.
Her eyes are on fire as she turns to Zhuang Nai Nai, “Don’t you have a heart, Gu Qing Yan? I can overlook the fact that you call that thief ‘mom’, but you actually have the heart to speak to us like that for her?”
Zhuang Nai Nai stands up, “I dare you to say it again! My mother is not a thief!”
“She is a thief! She stole my child! If it weren’t for her, we wouldn’t have been separated for so long! We will not be like this, as though we are enemies! You will not be so calculating when you ask you for a favour!”
Her eyes become red. The emotions swirling inside them are definitely not fake.
Zhuang Nai Nai is rendered speechless as she stares at Li Yu Feng.
If she thinks about it, Li Yu Feng’s resentment of her is pretty understandable.
She searched for her daughter so hard for 20 years, and now that they are reunited, the said daughter only cares for the one who took her away. With her pride, it is only natural for Li Yu Feng to resent her.
But, the virtue of giving birth is not the same as the virtue of raising a child.
Zhuang mama treated her so well, she will remember it for the rest of her life.
What about her real parents? One is resentful and the other only knows to calculate the boons behind every actions.
Zhuang Nai Nai lowers her head.
Li Yu Feng gets a little choked up. She quickly gets a hold of herself and puts the tray down before leaving the study.
