Chapter 1786 Afraid

Before departing, he had already made preparations in case they encountered an avalanche. However, he was mentally prepared, but when an avalanche really happened, it was hard to avoid being afraid. That was a normal person’s normal reaction to the arrival of a calamity, and he spoke about it out loud. He didn’t thought of it as an embarrassing thing.

“Hey, reporters sure have good comprehending ability. Reporter Qin, when you return to the city, that’ll be a good script for you.” The supply station soldier working with him said cheerfully, he looked at this Reporter Qin who was rumored to have come from the News Department. Yet, there was a temperament around him that was hard to describe; after taking another look at his hands that were being strained red by the rope, the soldier felt bad for him.

The guy was someone that wielded the pen, but he had almost lost his life here, but not even an ounce of fear could be seen from him… hehe, now he truly believed that he had traversed the Xinjiang-Tibet Highway four times each way.

Only those who had traversed the Highway multiple times would have such courage!

Qin Xiu, who had temporarily turned into a reporter, looked at the face that was actually a year younger than him but looked five or six years older; he took over the rope in this soldier’s hand and smiled: “I’m going to tie this around the truck bed, you take a break.”

He had gone through Xinjiang four times. This was the first time he had encountered an avalanche, which allowed him to witness the extraordinary skill of this motorized infantry that traverse this ‘Life-restricted Zone’ year-round.

He boarded the second vehicle, and if it wasn’t because of the quick reactions of this motorized infantry soldier, the rear truck that he was on would probably not be as lucky as the forward truck and would have very likely been swept down the cliff by the snow.

The two of them pulled the rope tight once again; after making sure that the two front tires had really been tied dead, they dug around the snow for two rocks that had been swept down with the snow and placed it behind the front tires, Qin Xiu stepped on the rock that would more or less prevent the front tires from sliding down, only then did he pull on the rope to crawl across the snow that had been piling on for who knows how many years, and came down all in one go.

He couldn’t walk, Qin Xiu could only spend nearly twenty minutes crawling, only then did he carefully crawl across the snow pile that might slide off the cliff if he wasn’t paying attention, and crawled back to the accident-free vehicle he had boarded.

Arriving at the truck-bed that was eerily quiet, he told the female soldiers inside: “Everyone come down for now, we won’t be able to stay in the car for a while.”

To prevent the accident vehicle from sliding down once more, the veteran had suggested using ropes to tie around the front tires, then tie it on the accident-free vehicle’s hook so that the forward truck’s truck head had a center of gravity.

Inside the truck-canopy, the female soldiers who were all mad stopped arguing; instead, they held their rage in as they sat down quietly, and heard the man who had previously ordered them not to move around was now talking near the truck-bed, they lifted their eyelids gently, and looked at each other in the darkness, nobody making a move.

After two minutes, the truck-bed was still quiet, his heart dropped in his chest as Qin Xiu lifted the heavy wind-curtain, and saw the seven female soldiers who were previously wailing from fear were huddled near the back wall, the moment they heard something, they looked at him in unison.

They’re all here and didn’t wander off.

After breathing a sigh of relief, Qin Xiu’s gaze coldly swept over them, “Everyone get off, we still need to save our comrades in the forward truck.”

“What’s there to save, we’re all going to die anyways, why don’t we just save our strength to write a will.” The girl named Liu Yuan spoke in an angry tone, even her words were extremely harsh, “You should save your strength, and don’t write news scripts anymore, we’re all accompanying some official’s daughter to come looking for somebody, your life’s at risk and you’re still concerned about saving people.”
