Chapter 996: Not Betraying These Years, These Experiences

In this place, K7 received excellent treatment. While the doctors here were already accustomed to accepting people injured from the war, adding on top of that, K7 was also a ‘tourist’ from China, and the hospital sent out their best doctor. It used up some of their best medicine to treat and stitch up the wounds on K7’s body for four hours.

The blast walls and barbed wires separated this hospital from terror, allowing their party of eight men to escape danger temporarily.

Meanwhile, this place is also where the Taliban terrorists suddenly sprouted up from, turning the place into the country’s second-largest city.

They’ll be staying in the hospital for half of the day; then they’ll board a plane in the afternoon and leave this place, bringing K7 home with them.

Xia Jinyuan watched as she left, a slight smile was raised by his thin lips the whole time. He extended his hand, copying what Ye Jian did earlier, gently spreading out his fingers, as though he had gripped onto the sand that blew over the Registan Desert. Then he slowly curled his fingers together; a dark glimmer flashed beneath his deep eyes.

Just now, he was certain the little fox was thinking something, however… she didn’t want to talk about it.

What was she thinking?

She was so deep in thought that she didn’t even notice he had stood behind her for at least five minutes? With a sense of helpless sorrow and a little bit of loneliness, causing his heartstrings to tug without reason until the end when he saw her spine straighten up and started radiating an unbending attitude once again. Only then did he speak up with a smile.

What was Ye Jian thinking about?

She thought about it and also did not think about it.

However, her feeling at the time was a sense of emptiness in her heart, as if the past few years after her rebirth still didn’t feel substantial and didn’t feel satisfied.

Remembering the last few years of her past life, the things she did in secret to counter-attack Ye Zifan, the tempo of her life during that period, was way faster than right now.

Shuttling between the major cities in Yunnan, traveling between the cities that Ye Zifan had taken office in, and then gathering evidence bit by bit, the final years of her life were scheduled much tighter, much busier compared to her current life.

When she gets back, she’ll have to talk with Principal Chen; they’ll need to schedule her time tighter. Compared to the commoners who were searching for survival in war, her current life was much too lucky, and she was living much too comfortably.

There’s still plenty of things she can do, and there’s still plenty of things that would make her ascend much faster!

Never betraying such good years, never betraying such good times!

What Ye Jian had thought, was solely that.

Lying on the hospital bed, K7 saw Ye Jian push open the door and walked in, a shallow smile revealed itself on his pale face. He raised up the hand that didn’t have IV drips, waiting for Ye Jian to high-five with him.

A crisp high-five sound could be heard inside the room. K7, whose vocal cords were slightly damaged, hoarsely spatted out words that weren’t too clear: “Thank you, my comrade.”

Thank you, my comrade. You are my comrade, a comrade that never abandons, that never gives up.

“There’s no need, my comrade.” Ye Jian’s lips curved upwards; she said with a warm smile: “Between comrades, I think we don’t need words of thanks. You were in the enemy’s camp, and we rescued you out; that’s something that was more than natural.”

V8 laughed, “You hear that. Look at you, you’re a grown man, but you don’t even have a heart as big as the girl over here. You thank whoever that comes in, it’s so nauseating.”

The teased K7 lifted his eye-lids; the scalpel-like glare swept over V8, who was laughing with his head towards the ceiling. He immediately lost his voice, the man with a forensic doctor’s background, K7, who dissects any and everything without emotion, was back.

Xia Jinyuan, who stood outside the sickroom, also started chuckling. This time, they can peacefully return home together.

The Chinese Military had already received the news and had told J5, who was lying in his bed with a gloomy expression every day. On the same day, when the nurse changed his dressings once again, she finally saw a smile on J5’s handsome face and was instantly flattered.
