Her mother’s illness is very similar to Alzheimer. She will recognize someone at one point, and then completely forgets who they are at the very next second. Now, seeing her mother so calm in such a foreign environment convinces Zhuang Nai Nai that her mother’s condition has improved greatly.
From the looks of it, Gu De Shou was not lying when he told her that he had sent her mother away for treatment.
Zhuang Nai Nai looks at her mother excitedly, “Are you scared living there all by yourself, mom? Do you miss me?”
“Silly child, mother is a grown woman, how could I be scared? I miss my Nai Nai a lot though, every single day. I have started recovering my memories.”
Zhuang Nai Nai is a little stunned, “Then, do you remember what kind of relationship you have with Gu De Shou?”
Her mother looks at her in confusion, “No. I can’t remember things that are so long ago.”
Zhuang Nai Nai sighs in disappointment.
Her mother comforts her, “Don’t be discouraged. De Shou told me that you have married a really handsome and accomplished man. Mother is very happy for you. You have led such a hard life over the years because of me, you can finally be happy.”
A really handsome and accomplished man.
Seems like Gu De Shou has not told her the entire truth; which is exactly what Zhuang Nai Nai wants.
Zhuang Nai Nai laughs, “Yes. Do you remember Si Zheng Ting, mom? The boy that I used to pursue back in high school?”
Her mother appears to try to put a face to that name, but in the end simply shakes her head, “No, I don’t remember who that is. It does not matter, as long as you are happy. Once I get better, I will visit you.”
Zhuang Nai Nai nods fervently.
She continues chatting with her mother idly. After a long time of chatting, she seems to have discovered something. Her mother appears to hve video-chat with Gu De Shou pretty much everyday; and everytime her mother says his name, her tone indicates that she is very happy.
Don’t tell her that her mother really did have something with Gu De Shou?
After a couple of hours of chatting, a doctor comes to her mother, speaking rapidly in English. Zhuang Nai Nai barely understands him, but her mother is capable enough to communicate with him with her broken English. Her mother turns to her helplessly, “Nai Nai, looks like we will have to chat another day. I need to rest. Otherwise, Dr. Mike will get really angry.”
After saying that, her mother blinks at her before ending the video call.
Zhuang Nai Nai’s heart blooms in happiness. Looks like her mother is really getting better. So the doctor in charge of her is Dr. Mike?
That will be enough clue for her to track down her mother’s whereabouts.
Zhuang Nai Nai puts the Ipad down before turning to Gu De Shou.
Gu De Shou puts out his hand towards her while smiling amiably, “Now you finally believe me? I didn’t mistreat your mother, right? Give me the U-disk.”
Zhuang Nai Nai purses her lips before handing him the U-disk. Gu De Shou is still full of charms despite being in his fifties; he must have been ten times as charming when he was younger.
Zhuang Nai Nai can no longer endure the suspicion inside her heart. “You once told me to stop inquiring about whatever happened between you three. I just want to ask you one thing: is my mother really your mistress?”
