Twas nary a time when my prey could put up a good fight,
Needless to say the one time it happened I was given a great fright,
Find a large meal to sustain the family’s needs as my mission,
Barely able to stand and bleeding profusely was my condition,
By the end up of it because what found me was super strong,
Some kind of overpowered bird that I think was called a swan,
It towered over me with its wings larger than my house,
Only by some god-given miracle did I escape like a mouse,
Scurrying at speeds I had never before reached,
Which hurt my legs but I wasn’t deceased,
I thought everything was okay after that,
Because I managed to kill quite a huge bat,
Shooting it out of the sky with a rock,
Luckily finding meat before the clock,
Struck night and the nocturnal beasts came out,
As well as the mist that smothered sight like a cloud,
Though despite finding the meal I needed in time,
I was too hurt to walk back and needed to climb,
Up a sheer cliffside which was a shortcut,
Also because I knew there was a large hut,
At the base of the cliff I climbed to avoid the dark,
So I struggled immensely but did reach my mark,
Unfortunately it was too late to make my way back to the village,
Had to hope that my neighbors didn’t assume me dead and pillage,
My family and belongings for themselves,
Or I’d be forced to use one of my precious spells,
That a witch had left me after I helped her,
Using them to get revenge and slaughter,
All those who dared harm,
Anyone who lived on my farm.
