Brrng! The next day, students entered the academy one after another after the bell rang.
‘Oh my God! They looked so scary yesterday!’ Yuu thought as he carried his school bag.
*Back to yesterday*
“Um… what’s that about the Students’ Union?” asked Yuu. The class looked at Yuu with a murderous expression on their faces.
“Hehe, the Students’ Union?” Ushi’s face was so dark that he could barely see his eyes. Yuu had goosebumps all over his body.
“I would really love to give them a beating.” Nagano had a furious look in her eyes.
“And… the president of the Students’ Union,” said the entire class in unison. Yuu stood aside, not knowing what was going on.
“Hey, everyone, let’s start… What’s that look in your eyes?!” When Mr. Kawamata came into the classroom, everyone except Yuu turned to stare at him, giving him a fright.
“Ahem. Anyways, let’s start class.” Everyone returned to their seats and Mr. Kawamata began taking attendance.
*Back to the present*
“Good morning, Yuu,” greeted Haruyama.
“Morning, Haruyama.” Yuu politely responded.
“Morning.” Tomoe walked over.
“Mmm, good morning.” Yuu placed Takamaru’s school bag aside.
“Ah, here comes Enomoto,” said Haruyama. Yuu looked over and saw Enomoto who had the air of prince charming.
“Why does he look familiar?” Yuu rubbed his chin.
“Oh, he’s the one who confessed to Takamaru,” answered Haruyama.
“Huh?” Yuu stared at Haruyama and tried to recall the other day but felt as if his brain was about to short-circuit.
“Oh, Yuu, thank you very much.” Right then, Takamaru entered the classroom.
“Um, Takamaru, is Enomoto the one who confessed to you the other day?” Yuu whispered into Takamaru’s ear.
“You saw that?” Yuu nodded silently.
“Mmm, I refused him.”
“Oh…”
“What’s the matter? You’re worried about me?” Takamaru grinned.
“No, no. I’m just asking. Don’t mind me,” said Yuu with a wave of his hand. Takamaru kept quiet.
“By the way, Haruyama.”
“Just call me Haruyama.”¹
“Why did you guys say all that about the Students’ Union?”
“Don’t you know? The members of the Students’ Union are all from Class A and have been targeting Class X.” Haruyama explained.
“However, one of our classmates is a member of the Students’ Union.”
“Who is it?” Yuu asked with his head tilted to the side. Right then, someone walked in.
“That’s her.” Haruyama turned around and Yuu followed suit.
“She’s Orio Akino.” Haruyama pointed at her. “She’s also the ‘Best Policy Fighter’.”
“What sort of nickname is that?” Yuu looked at him.
“Just like her nickname, she knows the most about developing policies.”
Just then, the bell rang. Haruyama waved goodbye to Yuu and went back to his seat.
*Students’ Union Room*
“President, this is the report on the servant election held by Takamaru.” The secretary of the Students’ Union handed a document to the president.
The president opened it and said, “Oh, that’s interesting.”
T/L Note: 1. The Chinese address their schoolmates, whom they aren’t really close to, like this–eg. Haruyama Classmate. I’ve done away with this because we don’t have the same practice in English. So in this case, Haruyama is actually telling Yuu to be less formal with him.
