Chapter 4: Selling

To his way home, he made a decision to take a few medicines from the grocery store, the sales madame felt worried, but Karas tried to brush her off by saying that he merely fell down on the dorm’s stairs.

Karas managed to get away after persuading the madame for fifteen minutes, in the end, she gave him free additional medicines such as bandages and some first aid sprays.

Karas sighed, this old lady is too kind for her own good, still, he couldn’t help but to view her as his own mother, from this life and his past, after all, an orphan has no family, especially for a person like him who’s fat and ugly.

This old lady will definitely be one of his top priorities to save from the coming catastrophe.

As soon as he arrived home, he deposited all of the things he needed inside his inventory, he needs to observe if this inventory can act as a preserver, hence, the meats were also placed inside.

“Right…” As he spoke of this, he looked at the store again, immediately went to the weapon section.

From his previous life, guns were not much of use, but until that day was to come, guns will definitely be a huge game-changer.

He needs to at least get ten thousand gis to acquire that gaming capsule, it will both help him earn money and get a faster way to decrease his fat. Also, he needed to make it quite, after all, tomorrow will be its release date.

Under the weapon tab, there are some options, he decreased his option to those that are unavailable in the current world, the least one he could see is…

He looked at his pocket, there is still 318 gis, which includes the ones he received from the three thugs.

He looked at the Blue Sea Rock with the gem and spoke: “Well, selling this might help, I don’t know how much this rifle will cost me, but gambling on it wouldn’t be bad.”

There is a much cheaper gun, but it’s either an assault rifle or a mini-sub machine gun, these weapons are suitable for a huge fight, and if one is to buy this, they need to buy mass to equip their soldiers.

But for sniper rifles, only one or two soldiers are equipped with it in a group, hence, it will be less problematic.

He had been to the military in his past life, and he can see that this gun is definitely a level above their greatest sniper rifle.

It will definitely be a great way to earn more money, but he needed to also prepare many more things, like, where had he got the weapon, if he made it, which company are you from? or the same sorts of questions.

After sorting his own thoughts, he started to prepare to take out the things inside the Blue Sea Rock as soon as he cane, with a chisel and a hammer, he started his work.

Roughly four hours later, Karas finished the job, he couldn’t help but sigh as he wiped the sweat out of his forehead: “Finally.”

He took especial care about clearing the Blue Sea Rock with the gem in it, after all, a single scratch would definitely be a gis removed.

“Well, this is the first time I’ve seen a gem this beautiful.” Karas spoke as he looked at the gem left and right, it’s extremely round, no dents nor edges, just pure round, a satisfying one at that. He could see through it clearly too, if the gem was white, he would’ ve definitely did so.

“A blue colored gem huh, but it’s more expensive than aquamarine.” He tossed it a few more times before inserting it inside his inventory.

Karas immediately took a bath before going to sleep.

The next day, Karas immediately started his exercise routine, from 8 am to 3 pm, he wanted to make use of the sun’s heat to help his diet too.

As he finished, he just changed his clothes and immediately jogged out towards the market place.

After two hours, he made his way there, the first thing he needed to do is find something to sell the gems to.

Right, orphans, also have the chance to be adopted by a rich family, and every year, about 40% of the total orphan population is adopted by a family.

Mostly, they are 80% women, either for the purpose of having a daughter or having someone to marry their son.

But, there is a rule too, that if ever the whole family is to die, and only the orphans were left behind, no part of the family’s wealth will go to the orphan, and will be kept by the empire until a blood relative that has a good connection with the family is to take it.

Karas made his way towards the jewelry district, there are around dozens of shops in here, he made his way on one of them, withdrawing the gem from the inventory before entering.

“I’d like to sell something,” Karas spoke.

As soon as he entered, the shop keeper was all giddy and placed his business smile on, but then, seeing Karas’ face and attire, he grew displeased: “Sure, what do you want to sell?”

Still, business is business, he opened his palm, expecting something small from Karas, even imitations too.

Karas sighed, everywhere in the world, people like this exist, actually, there’s a chance that 90% of the world’s population is like this, that might even an understatement.

Still, he handed the gem and observed his reaction.

The seller retrieving his hand, he sighed and looked at the gem, but his expression change for three seconds before it returned to normal: “Good blue jade, sadly, not that expensive quality.”

He sneaked a glance at Karas and offered: “I’ll buy this for 100 gis, that’s the most I could offer you for this.”

Karas is wearing a normal low rate attire, mostly, provisions from the Empire, an orphan’s clothes that are made in mass.

“That so?” Karas smiled, he then grabbed the gem and made his way out: “Then, I’ll try selling it to the other shops.”

The seller felt speechless, he couldn’t help but wake up immediately: “Wait, wait, come back, I’ll be the only one that can purchase that here!”

He shouted loudly, but with that kind of volume, the shop keepers would definitely hear it too.

“Oi, Old dog, what kinda barking are you saying now??”

“You saying, if you can’t buy it, we can’t too?”

Immediately, shop keepers started to come out, their nose puffing with hot air.

They glared at the clerk that shouted such shameless words, after a while, they then shift their gaze at Karas: “Kid, you selling something? Show it to us.”

Karas is only a 16-year-old kid in this life, hence, he nodded innocently and showed the gem: “I’m selling my Azure Dragon Pond Gem, but he said it only costs 100 gis, so I wanted to check the other stores if that’s the right price.”

As soon as he said this, everyone’s eyes shifts and glued at his hand. Their eyes widened in shock.

“Old dog, 100 gis?!” A burly shopkeeper burst in rage: “You trying to ruin our reputation here?”

The old shop keeper sweated: “Brother Eng, I thought it’s an ordinary blue jade!”

“Blue jade? Have you seen a blue jade like this? Even at first sight from afar, we can see it as an Azure Dragon Pond Gem, even a kid of 16-year old know of it, and you don’t? You tricking anyone here?” A rebuke came again.

“Kid, let me look at it first.” One of the shop keepers extended his hand.

Karas obediently handed it.

The shop keeper received it and started to observe: “Kid, I’m not gonna lie, but an Azure Dragon Pond Gem this size is around 400 to 450 gis, that is if we are only basing it with its weight.”

“Flawless, the texture is just perfect, it’s been extracted quite carefully.” The shop keeper spoke, he then handed it to another person.

“It’s actually much rarer than ordinary Azure Dragon Pond Gem, there are a few purple stripes inside, one has to know, the more purple stripes, the older it is, the pricier it gets.”

Everyone nodded in agreement.

“So, in everyone’s opinion, how much this one costs?”

“Well, the best I could offer is 1,400 gis, but I think it could be more if I consider the purple stripes inside.”

“Well, I could offer 1,650 gis at most.”

They started to talk amongst themselves, and the best one offered 2,100 gis: “Well, that’s the best I could offer if I wish to at least get a few benefits from it.”

Karas felt satisfied with the result, he too knew that they won’t be selling the gem raw, they will have it placed into a bracelet or necklace to be sold higher, but that will take more time, they might sell it to 3,000, even higher if a customer is extremely rich.

He made his way home, of course, while jogging.

As he made his way home, he found an alley to rest: “System, I’d like to receive a mission.”

“I need to prepare.”
