Chapter Five – Can’t go around beating up people anymore

Song Lan ran excitedly inside their mansion, dropping her bag at the floor. Master Sun and her grandparents stood up from the sight of their family’s Song Lan.

Master Sun teared up a bit seeing that the girl running towards them was no longer the young miss in pigtails but a beautiful young lady.

Song Lan had a bright and lovely smile on her peerless face as she rushed with her arms open to hug her father.

Master Sun almost cried seeing his precious daughter bury her face on his chest as she hugged him. The old master and old madam rushed to join in too, almost knocking Song Lan off-balance in joy.

“Oh my! Lanlan why do you look so skinny? This won’t do! Tell the chef to cook more!”
As soon as they broke free from the hug, Old Madam Li chastised as she held both of Song Lan’s arms and examined her.

Song Lan laughed and hugged her grandmother tight. Elders will always say that you’re too skinny.

“What do you mean skinny grandma? I have to maintain my figure or else I can’t bring a boyfriend home!”

Master Sun heard this and felt apprehensive, “What boyfriend? Ayo this child! Is someone pursuing you already?”

Song Lan shook her head.

“I’m pursuing him instead!” Song Lan grinned proudly. Master Sun had black lines on his forehead…

He knew his daughter had a strong personality, but he didn’t expect her to be so driven… He could only hope that the guy she was chasing was qualified for her pursual. He glanced at his assistant at the side, signaling him to investigate. The assistant bowed his head.

Old Master Sun heard this and laughed. “This child ah, are you following your grandmother’s path?”

Old Madam Li immediately hit Old Master Sun, feeling a bit embarrassed. “This old bag of bones! How are you still boasting about that at your age?”

Song Lan smiled seeing this interaction. This was what she missed so much. She had just come home from University. She insisted to stay at the school dorm so she could learn to be a little bit independent and meet new friends. The first semester just ended and she had a chance to visit home for a few days.

“Let’s go and eat, Lanlan. Tell grandma all about your experience there over lunch.” They warmly ushered her to go to the dining room.

After dinner, Master Sun called his daughter over to his study.

Song Lan sat comfortably at the couch inside the study room of her father, surveying the changes inside. Master Sun chuckled seeing his daughter immediately sit comfortably like it was her study room.

He sat at the swivel chair at the back of his desk and got some papers from the drawer. “Lanlan, you know your father has been involved in politics for a while now…” He started seriously.

Dear Readers. Scrapers have recently been devasting our views. At this rate, the site (creativenovels .com) might...let's just hope it doesn't come to that. If you are reading on a scraper site. Please don't.

Song Lan stopped sitting and lazing around like a cat from the sound of her father’s serious tone. “En, why daddy?”

Master Sun sighed and struggled to explain. “You see… your father has some enemies now. It’s not exactly safe for you anymore and they have been looking for ways to bring your father down.”

“I know that as your father I’ve never stopped you from being free, but it’s a lot better if you’ll tone it down a bit…”

Song Lan frowned and looked at her father innocently. “What do you mean daddy? I’ve been good.”

Master Sun didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at his daughter’s shamelessness.

He might not say anything about it because he couldn’t bear to reprimand her but he kept an eye on her ever since she was in high school. It was partially his fault for spoiling her too much and only letting her study with peers in high school. All along she was homeschooled and all her playmates were paid…

Sun Song Lan was an overbearing bully.

That goes without even saying. Old Madam Li wasn’t exactly the best role model… And without a mother figure, she looked up to this grandmother.

On her first day in high school, Old Madam Li and Old Master Sun came to her school. Master Sun was busy in the company at that time so he could only make his mother go.

He received a call saying his daughter beat up an eight-grader that he had bruises all over his body.

Song Lan was naturally a strong fighter since she received mixed martial arts training from a young age, she still trains until today. It was initially for self-defense but Master Sun didn’t expect that his cute little daughter would just…

Unexpectedly, Old Madam Li not only overbearingly blamed the poor kid, but she also justified the actions of Song Lan.

Old Madam Li frowned after the parents of the kid demanded an apology from her dear Lanlan. “Why would my Lanlan need to apologize? That wretched kid had the guts to taunt her but ended up being a punching bag! Is it my Lanlan’s fault that he’s too weak?”

Old Master Sun at that time, “…”

Song Lan could hear her father’s silent grievances towards her and felt helpless. Her reputation was already so blackened that even her own father thought that she was some tyrant.

In reality, she always had her reasons for beating people up. That eight-grader at that time was bullying a small kid with her same grade. The boy really reminded her of her brother from her past life. She blanked out, and suddenly all her memories of her brother being beaten up rushed to her head and she saw red.

She rushed to push that bully and beat him up. No matter how she explained, the principal didn’t believe her. The boy she helped couldn’t back her up too. Apparently, it was the eighth grader’s family who supported his scholarship and his parents were all working for that boy’s family.

He couldn’t be convinced by Song Lan, as he didn’t know that her family had the same, or better yet, greater power than that boy’s family.

He also didn’t find the words of a gangster-like girl that reliable…

“Daddy, do you not believe in your good daughter?” Song Lan pouted.

Master Sun, “…”

What good daughter, ah?

That was only the first incident and she was still a seventh-grader. How old was she now anyway? She was already eighteen and in her first year at a prestigious university. A lot more stories could be told that by the end of it, you’d spit at her but would be too afraid to do so.

Her reputation was so blackened that she was known as some big shot in the underworld’s daughter, the reason she gets away so much. Who would’ve guessed that she was the daughter of the steadfast and honest Mayor Sun, the CEO of Sun Conglomerate?

They said she was so overbearing that she couldn’t even stand in line to get lunch in the university cafeteria. But the truth was that they were too afraid to stand in front of her, lest they got beat up.

“I… I understand father.” Song Lan said bitterly and bowed her head. Master Sun felt a bit bad seeing his daughter downcast.

“There’s also another matter. You’ll need to live in an apartment near your university instead. Your security will be a lot better there.” Master Sun informed her.

Song Lan felt a bit sad she had to leave the dorm, but her dorm mates felt too scared of her anyways that they didn’t end up sleeping there. Song Lan had no idea where they stayed instead. She didn’t care for them anyway. She was only sad because she already felt like she lived in a condo, having the room all to herself.

Moreover, she was a bit perplexed. Why did she need to live somewhere with high security? Was her father’s situation that bad?

“You will be accompanied by a bodyguard starting your second semester at the university. You’ll meet him when he comes to pick you up to go to school.” Master Sun added, intending to show her the documents regarding the bodyguard.

But Song Lan suddenly shot up, “Oh I forgot to give grandma and grandma my gifts! They won’t stay here for long right?”

And she was already out of the study room leaving Master Sun dumbfounded.
