Episode 40 – Assassination at the Royal Palace ‘Even if I die.2’
No longer being able to hold back, she immediately abandoned her responsibility, taking a step towards Aeselak. But before she could take another step, she stopped. Surprise and shock filling up her face.
‘Ah…’
At the moment Aedelak stepped forward, Aeselak lifted her face up, staring straight into Aeselak’s eyes. Her eyes slowly formed a crescent shape, smiling.
‘Ehehe’
Aeselak innocently laughed. Her self-controlled sister raised her voice for the first time for her? Forgetting the situation she was in, she wholeheartedly laughed over her triumph! She had an inkling feeling her sister cherished her more than she let out to be, and this proved it! See? She was willing to abandon her important responsibility for her?
‘Wait no! She can’t do that!’
Waking up from her fleeting happiness, she violently shakes her head! Just like how she herself has to protect young master Ramon from the old man, her sister needs to protect Louis and the twins from the dangerous younger man! Slowly unfolding her thumb from one of her hands that was tightly holding the old man in place, she raised a ‘thumbs up’ pose.
Her thumbs up meaning… ‘I am fine, don’t come over!’
“……”
It wasn’t just Aedelak, everyone else also saw the bravery of Aeselak. Her smile weighing heavily in their hearts; her image carved into their souls. From her bravery, they found new profound strength and resolution to get through this reality together.
The 2 culprits thought otherwise. For the younger man, he took her smile as a mockery at him and the old man. It was as if she was mocking him for being a commoner and doing something a brainless peasant would do. This thought was not shared by the old man who was forcefully trying to get her off. He was paralyzed in spot, chill running down his spine, realizing she wasn’t going to back down no matter how much pain he would inflict on her. She was abnormal! A child willing to bear through pain? No..
Looking around at his surroundings, another realization hit him.
‘They are all abnormal..’
Everyone looked under the age of 10, yet not a single complaint or begs of mercies was heard. Even though fears can be seen through their eyes, they stood tall, protecting one another.
‘What are these children?’
Fear gradually increasing within his mind, sweats slowing tickling down from his sweat glands. Realizing, he was afraid of these children. It was as if the situation suddenly flipped over, them preying on him instead.
“Aeselak…”
The perseverance and resolution in Aeselak face overwhelmed Aedelak. Her heart overwhelmed with deep sadness and guilt of seeing her sister go through torment. Her eyes slowly shifted to the side, glazed with a glassy layer of tear. Her lower lips quivering, biting her lips in an attempt to stop her tears from falling down.
Aeselak was only 6 years old! Deeply inhaling to calm her inner turmoil, her eyes slowly closed and exhaled out, strengthening her resolution of protecting the twins.
‘Haa… What was that thumbs up supposed to mean? Which neighborhood kid did she learn that from again?’
When they are saved, she will for sure reprimand Aeselak for the improper gesture un-befitting of serving Eldest young miss Eugeneia, and Youngest miss Euria!
Pissed off by the old man who was still dilly-dallying around, not going after the red-haired rat, the younger man shouted loudly, shocking everyone deeply!, “You bastard! Just kill her!”
“Uwuu”
Scared by many loud voices one after another, Euria started to feel afraid. Especially when a familiar voice of someone spoke to her and took care of her everyday screamed out a very familiar name!
Struggling out of Louis’ embrace together with Eugene, they both momentarily slipped out of his arms! Although their bodies were easily caught again by Louis, it was too late as the scene of a dirtied Aeselak lying at the soles of the man’s feet were deeply embedded into their eyes.
‘What..?’ (Eugene)
‘….’
From the odd feeling of someone who normally spoke to her in a soft voice, suddenly shouting, and the picture of another nice person looking hurt besides a really unfamiliar man, she could already sense danger. In an instant her huge eyes filled up with tears, big streams of tears falling down from her innocent red eyes.
“Uuwwuuuuuuuuuuuu”
Her really nice caretaker was hurt!! The one always lets her sleep together with her elder sister! The really really really nice person is being bullied!!
For the first time, Euria cried for someone or a reason that wasn’t related to her Elder sister! Her deep sobs made Louis pull the twins back into his chest. Turning them around so they weren’t facing Aeselak, making them once again unable to see any bad things.
“Lou…s” ‘Louis! Let go!’
Following Eugene, Euria also chanted, expressing her displeasure of being hidden,
“Louu.. LOU”
They both struggled harder in unison. Euria cried harder, but eventually was muffled completely by Louis who hugged them tighter into his chest because of the old man’s sudden elevation in action.
“You WRENCH!”
