In a forest somewhere in the Western Region.
“Darling? Do you think Aeron is doing fine in Una?”
A woman with crimson hair said as she sat down sharpening her saber.
“I don’t know, but he is our son, since it was his decision to go there then we can only support him”
A man said standing beside the woman. The couple was Aeron’s parents.
“Sigh, do you think he’d listen to us if we asked him not to pick Tamer Profession?”
The Aeron’s mother asked in a worried voice. She had wanted to tell his son not to pick the Tamer profession as she knew that base on her and her husband’s talent her son should’ve gotten a better choice.
“You know our son, maybe, if we tried then he would’ve gone to another path, but you have seen all his efforts towards becoming a Tamer, all those memory stones he read through just to have more knowledge on beasts, as well as planning his steps even though he knew his talent in it would be low, besides, talent isn’t always a true indicator of what he’ll achieve in the future, and even if our son ends up a normal person, we will still support him”
Aeron’s father answered, in this world, strength was the most valuable belonging one could have, and if his son turned out to be a mediocre Tamer then so be it, He and his wife would lift him up and protect him.
“It’s all those damned geezers’ fault, if they weren’t so hung up on the glory of the Tamer, then their descendants wouldn’t be stuck having to choose such a profession”
Aeron’s mother said in frustration, the Ironbull family was an up and coming powerhouse family, this was undeniable, 50 Tamers with High-Grade Beasts and one Transcendent was not a power to be messed with, but this type of glory came with a heavy cost. The number of mediocre Tamers in the Ironbull family was not something they publicized, but she and her husband knew that the successful number of Tamers would drown if the failed Tamer spat on them.
“This is not something we can do anything about, you know what happens when a person transcends right? They all change, all they think about is getting their own territory, they just hand over the reign to their descendants and check on them every now and then”
Aeron’s father said with a sigh, this happens to every family that has transcendents, it was said that there was a certain secret that the transcendents would be told by a God Stage Professional the moment they transcend, and every single time this happens, the transcendent would change, like they had to do something and family became less of their priority. It was said that those families with God Stage Professional had it worse, those families wouldn’t even be able to communicate with their God Stage Professional unless there was an emergency concerning the survival of the family.
“I don’t care, this is our son, because of them, our son chose his current path, a path wrought with danger, and now we can’t even go and help him”
Aeron’s mother said with anger, if only Profession oriented families didn’t pressure those people who had less talent on the Profession they specialize in, then there would be no such thing as children deciding to become a Professional with a bleak future for the honor and glory of the family. Although her son’s situation was different, it was still indirectly caused by those people who insulted her husband just because he did a logical choice.
“I know, but there’s nothing we can do about it, just wait, 2 years at most, if we continue with these missions, then we will be able to go to our son in 2 years”
Aeron’s father said.
“But you heard the governor, right? There’s a chance that the City of Una would become a free city, how will they fight then?”
Aeron’s mother said in frustration, this had been the reason why she was angry at the moment. They were stuck here while their son was in danger.
“Sigh, I know, but you also know that there is that person’s descendant there right? And he seems to be concerned with our son, I’m not sure why, but since he is, then our son should have another lifeline”
Aeron’s father said, but although he was trying to console his wife, the glint on his eyes said otherwise.
“I don’t know why too, but if I find out that he’s manipulating our son just to get to us, then I won’t care for the consequences and who his parents are, I will find him, and I will separate his head from his body”
Aeron’s mother said, as an unbridled red aura burst from her, it was so strong that it covered the whole forest they were in, pressing the beasts to the ground. Aeron’s father was different as his aura was calm, it was a clear aura, unfelt, and unseen.
Kraa! Karaaa! KRara! KURAA!
“Sigh, I’ll go and gather them up”
Aeron’s father said as his figure slowly disappeared, they were here to hunt the Kura’s, these were rare High-Grade Beasts that lived in groups, giant lizards with a snake-like head and a horn on top of it. They were prized for their horns as they were natural sabers.
“There’s a Kura Chief up ahead, 4 Elder Kuras too”
A voice suddenly traveled to Aeron’s mother’s ear.
“Got it, Envelop”
Aeron’s mother said, the aura covering the forest shrunk before gathering around her.
Booom!
The ground shook as she kicked the ground, she held on her saber as she dashed through the forest. There was only a red silhouette visible flashing through the forest.
Kuraaa! Kraa! Krraa!
The Kuras sense her as they gathered in a defensive formation.
“[Arrow Rain]”
Aeron’s father murmured as he shot a shining arrow above the Kuras, the arrow blew up and a thousand smaller arrows rained down.
Sweee! Sweee! Sweee!
Kuraa!
The Kura Chief roared as all the Kuras horns glowed green, their neck swerved like whips as they deflected the rain of arrows.
“Infuse, [Piercing Arrow]”
Colorless aura shrouded the arrow, the bow bent like a crescent moon, then the arrow was released.
Siiiik!
Two Kuras froze as their heads were pierced one after the other.
Kuurrraaaa!
The Kura Chief was enraged, their horns glowed again as they whipped their horns on the direction the arrow came from.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The trees were shredded by the saber lights, but there was nothing other than trees when the dust settled.
Siiiik!
Another Kura fell as an arrow punctured its head; the Kuras activated their skill again but the result was the same.
KURAAA!
The Kura Chief roared in rage, the other Kuras laid down as the Kura Chief’s horn shone a brilliant green light, the horn grew bigger and longer, it whipped its head in a circular motion and a barrage of giant saber lights bombarded the surrounding trees.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The result of the attack was that the trees in about a 1000-meter radius were cut down. The Kura Chief looked around, searching for the intruder, but it wasn’t able to see anything other than fallen trees and stumps.
“Ehhh”
The Kuras looked at the newcomer, a figure covered in red aura stood in front of the Kuras, her hair waved behind as her eyes shone like crimson flames. An eerie smile appeared on her face.
“Domain!”
Booom!
A red dome appeared inside the forest. Aeron’s father appeared outside the dome.
“So, you mastered it first, looks like I’ll have to work harder”
Aeron’s father smiled as a smile appeared on his face. Although they were husband and wife, they were actually very competitive. Well, Aeron’s mother was, though Aeron’s father would never admit it, it was a sort of silent agreement between them. This was how they met and became friends, she was his rival, and he was hers. Outside the dome, it was peaceful and quiet, but the inside was entirely different.
In the City of Una.
“Young master, it seems they really did it”
A man with graying hair said.
“That stupid brother of mine, just for me he would put everyone here in danger, did you capture him uncle?”
The young man said.
“No, he was already dead when I got there, but the deed has been done, are you really going to stay here young master?”
The man answered.
“Sigh, you know my situation uncle, and please don’t call me young master, just call me Gerard, like you always did.”
Gerard said at the man.
“Young master, the past isn’t the same, I failed to protect your parents, but I promised myself to protect you, I will be your weapon and your shield.”
The man said as he fell on one knee.
“Alright alright uncle, please don’t kneel in front of me, it wasn’t your fault what happened to my parents.”
Gerard said as he helped the man up. They talked for a bit before the man left.
“Sigh”
Gerard sighed as he fell on his chair.
“Find a way to leak this to the governor, he will probably leave, but he is still a Transcendent, my brother doesn’t care much about him because he is only one transcendent, but he will regret doing so in the future”
A dark figure suddenly appeared and beside Gerard before disappearing after hearing Gerard’s orders.
“Little brother, you might not be him, but this time, I won’t fail”
Gerard murmured as he gazed outside.
Inside the Endless Forest
Rustle Rustle
Leaves fell as the bushes were parted by a sword, the hand that gripped the handle was white as snow. Only the hand holding the sword could be seen as the person in question was covered by a grey robe.
“It’s already been 3 months”
A soft whisper sounded from the grey-robed person. The person looked up, but the only thing that could be seen were the leaves and vines crisscrossing on the forest canopy. When the wind blew, strings of sunlight appeared and disappeared.
Howl!
“Wolves again”
The person crouched down attempting to hide before the pack of wolves surrounded the area. The wolf leading the pack was huge, it stood at 5 meters tall and 12 meters long. It was very thin but strips of fur would sometimes light up with a green hue as a slight breeze emanated from them.
Sniff sniff grrrr
The alpha wolf sniffed around before growling at the area the person was hiding.
Boom!
The alpha’s aura manifested as it tried to surround the person. The members of the pack started appear, all of them were Dire Wolves.
Howl
The alpha was confident of its power as it signaled its pack members to attack.
Grrrrr!
The wolves charged at the person, but before any of them could get near, a sigh was suddenly heard.
“If only you didn’t do this, I would’ve just ignored you”
The person spoke as a white aura emanated from the person.
Whimper Whimper
The wolves were lost in despair as the fearful aura covered them, even the High-Grade Beast Wind Wolf froze in fear as it used its own aura to protect itself, but the gap in strength was too high as its efforts yielded nothing.
“Envelop.”
After the person spoke the suppressive aura vanished, the wolves fell down one after another, they weren’t dead, instead, their limbs had grown limp. The only one left standing was their alpha, but it was barely standing and stood rooted on the ground.
“[Dance of Death]”
The person softly uttered vanishing from the wolves’ sight, but the alpha wolf still knew that the person was still there as the scent of its aura remained. A figure suddenly appeared near a collapsed dire wolf as the robe spun and a blade flashed.
Siiikk
The dire wolf was unable to react as its head flew from its body, the last thing its saw was a vanishing figure and its headless body before everything went dark. Like a reaper of death, the figure appeared and disappeared, wolf heads flew up as the dance of death continued. A deathly atmosphere emanated from the surroundings as the figure vanished once again, but It was a pity that no one was there to appreciate the graceful actions hidden beneath the robes, which even the brutality and gore failed to hide.
The Wind Wolf was finally able to regain control of its body as it tried to howl, but before it could, the figure reappeared above it as the sword flashed before its eyes. The wolf head flew off its body as its eyes were frozen with shock and despair.
“Father, Mother, I promise I will find it”
The figure spoke before vanishing in the forest.
“Ha!!”
Aeron thrusted the spear with his new strength. He had been training for three days after the hyenas invaded. He had yet to use his skill on his attacks as he had not yet mastered his new strength. He wiped the sweat off his head, he had been doing his training intensively. The sense of danger and pressure was apparent as he spent his days in the forest, his death was dependent on whether any of the High-Grade Beasts would find time to visit him. He could try and travel through the plains, but on the off chance that the Grey Eagle found him, then he wouldn’t have Spirit’s speed to dodge any of the Grey Eagle’s attack.
“Still no hyenas?”
Aeron asked, Arthur relayed that the scouts had not found any other beast invading his part of the forest, there was also no sign of the Grey Eagle in the past few days. In fact, he was tempted to escape but still decided to stay, he needed strength, and this forest provided him enough till level 5 or even level 6, and if the Grey Eagle perchance, found him escaping, then he would’ve died even faster. Right now, the enemies were a High-Grade Eagle, and a pack of hyenas, he could use the terrain to at least escape them both.
“Let’s go!”
Aeron said before he quickly climbed up the tree, twice faster than the past. He hadn’t just trained his spearmanship, he had also trained his speed and agility by traveling around the forest.
‘It always seemed amazing seeing those people do parkour’
Aeron thought as his figure flashed around the forest, he had the monkeys follow him above and below, this was to ensure there wouldn’t be random attacks, as well as him falling down to his death. He actually played tag with the monkeys, but whenever he was caught, he would be it the entire game.
Screeech!
A screech was suddenly heard.
“Up!!”
Aeron said as they stopped and started climbing up the tree.
“The Grey Eagle!”
Aeron said as he saw the giant eagle fly up the forest, but its wings seemed injured, and there were wounds around its body, it also had some sort of white object stuck on its beak.
Hahahahhah
A loud hyena call suddenly sounded from the western forest, the sound chilled Aeron’s body as he felt the brutality and intent withing the sound. A blood-red object suddenly went flying on the Grey Eagle’s direction, it hit the Eagle’s body, making it struggle a bit, but the Grey Eagle pushed through and continued flying.
“Run!”
Aeron said as he saw the direction to which the Grey Eagle was flying.
