Erewhon kingdom

Lithana provided me with a luxurious carriage and we set off towards the kingdom. The journey there would take approximately 2 to 3 days.

Discussing tactics and ideas along the way and one topic came up about how one can gauge the abilities and powers of the opponent during a battle.

“We check the opponents status screen of course, don’t tell me you don’t even know this basic stuff?” Lithana said.

I was dumbfounded, this did not exist thousands of years ago, i wondered what else had changed during these thousands of years that passed.

“I have amnesia remember? So how do how do i bring this …status up?”

“Just say status and look at your target, but the stronger your target is the lesser the information will be revealed. If you are powerful enough, you can hide your status screen.”

I checked my own status and looked at Lithana’s.

[Eric Pendragon] [Race: Dragon (Weakened)] [Age: 8500] [4th Circle – Advanced] [Novice fighter] [Magic: Fire(blue), Earth, Lighting, ??? (sealed) ] [Ability: Eye of Truth, ??? (sealed)] [Word: ??? (sealed)]

**

[Lithana Bladeheart] [Race: Human] [Age: 20] [3rd Circle – Intermediate] [Intermediate fighter] [Magic: Shadow, Air] [Ability: Shadow Blade]

Eye of Truth is an innate ability of dragons. With eyes that can reveal the true nature of all things, it was referred to as the God Eye.

Seeing the sealed state of my powers, i sighed.

“So what do you see when you check my status?” I asked.

“Only your name… how the heck are you hiding your status from me?” Her eyebrows scrunched up in confusion.

I shrugged my shoulders, there was no way i was going to reveal who i am.

Ending the conversation, i told her that i wanted to get some rest.

Along the journey, we were ambushed twice by bandits. It was annoying to check whether the carriage was okay.

I woke up from Lithana shaking my shoulders. Opening the carriage windows, the massive wall of Erewhon Kingdom greeted me. The walls stretched for miles around the city.

The kingdom was separated into 4 parts, the slums, area for commoners, nobles and royalty. At the center of the kingdom was a majestic castle, it was grand and imposing. The castle towered over all buildings and almost touched the sky.

We skipped over the line waiting to enter the city, Lithana explained a few things to the guards about me and we breezed through inspection. Being a noble sure had its perks i guess.

“School starts in 3 days, my family will take care of your enrollment matters and school fees, you can take these few days to familiarize yourself with the city. Oh and take this, it’s my family token, it will make your life much easier in the city.”

“Where will i stay?”

“The academy will provide lodging, just find someplace to stay for these 3 day. See you at school!”

There were many demis and humans in the city, sometimes i could spot an elf or a dwarf but those were rare.

I was in no hurry to find a place to stay, so i explored the city. The first destination that i had in mind was the city library. I still had no idea what happened after the Endless War and that was a great place to start.

I neared the library and saw a guard at the entrance.

“30 silver pieces for commoners, nobles are free to go in,” he said in a monotone voice.

It seems like commoners are discriminated against in this kingdom. I flashed him the Bladeheart token and he waved me to pass.

Though the library looked unassuming on the outside, the inside was quite the opposite. The shelves reached the ceiling and was lined with dozens and dozens of books. I haven’t the slightest clue of where to start searching, so i went to the librarian.

“Put your hands on this ball and think of the books you want to read.” The librarian said.

I placed my hands on the ball and it lit up. After a few moments, 2 books came floating towards me.

I reached out and plucked them from the air. The titles were, ‘History of the Great Erewhon’, and ‘Stories and myths of the Endless War’.

I started from the one about Erewhon. It stated that Erewhon was a great hero who founded the kingdom 500 years ago, he united the human and beast kingdoms. Once known to have defeated 50 wyverns by himself, he was said to be one of the strongest archmage that ever existed. As a result of the kingdom being founded by an archmage, it became a magic kingdom headed by a Mage King.

I went on to the next book. It told stories and tales of heroes and villains, their adventures and misfortune. I did not care about those stories, but there was only one thing i wanted to find and i could not find it.

There was absolutely no mentions about dragons, none whatsoever. It was like they never existed. The closest thing i could find that was close to hints about dragons were the dragonians. They were a race that suddenly appeared in the midst of war, and were proclaimed to be the strongest race in the continent. Either the existence of dragons were forgotten over the millennia or someone is covering it up.

The Gods descended and made themselves known. Perfecting their image of beings that’s holy and divine, they ended the War. And thus brought upon a new age of religion. It blossomed to all corners of the continent and soon the world is filled with believers.

There are Three main Gods. Izalith, the God of Darkness, Avalon the Goddess of Harmony and Baldr the God of Justice. The Three of them represented the pantheon of Gods and they made the largest impact in the War.

I was disappointed with what i found from the library.

For the next 3 days, i walked and explored the city. I found 4 towers at each corner of the kingdom, from the looks of it, they were probably magic towers. I wanted to gauge how powerful they are but they banned entry for all outsiders, so i can only watch from afar.

Nearing the end of the third day, i got myself some sleep and got ready for the next day.
