Making a Party

Reaching the weapon shop, the impression i received was different compared to the armory. Though it was not as glamorous , there were much more people streaming in and out of the shop. Weapons would always interest people, no matter what day and age.

There were dozens and dozens of weapons showcased, each looking different and unique. From great axes to brass knuckles, they come in all shapes and sizes.

Squeezing through the crowd of people, i went in search for the owner of the shop. After asking around, i found him sleeping behind the counter with a leg arched up, it was a dwarf with a huge belly. All the others that i thought were the shop keepers were only his helpers.

“Hey.” I nudged him.

It didn’t seem like he was waking up, so i nudged him even harder.

“Wha- What!?” Jolting awake, he fell out of the chair. “B***** off will ya, i need mah sleep,” he grunted and tried to get back to sleep.

I wound up my hand, and like a meteor descending, i gave him one tight slap.

“Oof! Boy, who do you think you are hitting! I am Giyosai the Master Blacksmith, and no one shall disturb my sleep!” He picked up stationeries from the counter and started throwing them at me. I smoothly dodged the incoming projectiles, sometimes plucking them out from the air and returning the gifts.

When his helpers saw this, they rushed out and tried to restrain him, but because of his dwarf strength, they couldn’t quite hold him down. “Mr Giyosai! There are customers here, please control yourself!”

Grabbing a bottle of rum from seemingly nowhere, he took a swig. “What do you want.”

“A sword, one that can wield multiple elements. ” I have thought about getting something like a halberd or a scythe, but thinking about it, i see myself as someone who likes to go up close and personal in a battle, so i decided on a sword.

“You have some pretty interesting requirements there, do you know that these elemental swords are expensive, more so with one that can manipulate multiple elements, this isn’t something a person like you can afford.”

“How much does it cost then?”

“45 gold coins, you won’t make that much in yer lifetime,” he said with a smug look, as if daring me to prove him wrong.

My jaw dropped, 45 gold is a huge amount of money for me right now. I stood there in a daze. Currently I am only left with 15 gold, including the amount that was initially in the ring.

Cradling my broken heart, i thought about all the money i’ll be losing. With no other choice, i had to get a temporary weapon for the meantime.

“Mr Giyosai, i guess i’m not getting the elemental sword for now, what do you recommend?”

Giyosai gave me a wide grin as if telling me ‘i told you so’.

Resisting the urged to punch him in the face, i gave him a smile in return. I then patiently waited for his response.

“Here’s a titanium sword, it has the innate ability of sharpen. This sword is on the cheap side, though it may not look all that good, it still does it’s job pretty well, all for the cost of 2 gold,” he took out a shiny silver sword from the shelves.

“I’ll take it, no need for a sheath.”

Finished with the transaction, i headed to the guild to look for more missions.

Arriving at the guild, i saw Lithana leaning against the entrance. She looked as if she was waiting for someone. As soon as she spotted me, she rushed towards me like a moth attracted to a flame. Brushing past her, i ignored everything she was saying and went to the mission board. Looking at the available missions, i searched for the ones which gave most rewards.

From what i saw, diamond missions seem to have the most rewards, but there was one problem. I neither had the rank to solo the mission nor a party to help me. Racking my brains to find a solution, i suddenly heard a voice from my side.

“Looking at diamond missions? Are you in need of money?” Lithana appeared by my side, eyes wide as if plotting something.

“Yes.”

“As long as you join-“

“No, but i’ll listen to one request, if you help me on my missions. As long as it is not about joining your family, i’ll think about it.”

“That’s wonderful! I accept!”

“Alright, i need to know your abilities and skills so we can work better.”

“I specialize in stealth, and can wield shadow and air element, in all of Erewhon kingdom, only my family can wield the Shadow element.” She puffed out her chest, looking proud.

In this world there are 4 main elements, Water, Earth , Fire and Air. Though sometimes there will be elements that does not belong to the main group, like the Shadow element, it is classified as a Unique element. Those that derived from the main elements are called Specialists. For example, Lighting is a branch from the fire element and Ice is from water. From my past travels, i have discovered many unique elements.

Lithana looked at me, expecting to get a reaction from me, but i just nodded. Not satisfied with my reaction, she turned her head away. I looked back at the mission board and picked up a manticore subjugation mission.

Looking at the mission i picked, she said in disbelief, “there is not way we can complete that with just us, that’s an A-ranked beast.”

“It’ll be fine, i was planning to solo this anyways, time to prove your worth.”

Setting up a meeting date, we decided to meet the next morning.
