Chapter 9

Mel’s remaining strength was exhausted with his last hit. But fortunately, salvation was near, as he followed his grandfather’s advice and didn’t walk too far from his cave.

Even though the entrance was not visible to anyone, thanks to the methods of hiding, Mel knew where to go very well. With the dead wolf body he dragged behind, he threw himself into the safe zone with one last effort.

When the cold air, crawling through the damp walls, touched his body; he couldn’t manage to take it any longer. At first, his eyes went black, then his knees unraveled, causing him to fall on the ground like a puppet with its strings cut.

His goal was to get into the water flowing through the cave. But he couldn’t avoid fainting after taking a few steps through the entrance. At the end of the day, when he tasted the fear of death and his first triumph, he was sleeping tightly as if he was on his grandfather’s knees.

When he opened his eyes again, the feeling of pain from his right hand made his teeth clench tightly. It was like the original limb was gone and something, three times the size of it, came in its place.

This analogy was not wrong. His hand, which made the stroke bringing him his first victory, was almost as big as his head. The only solution that came to the mind of the little boy, who did not know what to do in the face of such a situation that made him scream at the slightest movement, was to go into the water that renews the person who was in.

Leaving the body on the ground, Mel started walking without moving the injured limb too much by using his other hand to hold it up. But it was not as easy as he thought.

Each step he took was making his body shake, each swing was causing another wave of pain rising from his swollen hand and reaching to his brain.

When he let himself into the cool waters, Mel had no power to take another step. From his blood-covered clothes to the dried tears on his face, he had a terrible look.

When he slowly dipped his battered right hand into the river, he felt tiny little needles sticking into his skin at first. After all the pain he had following his waking up, this feeling slightly brightened his face.

The energy flowing in him through the pores on his body became visible, the pale white of his skin turned into a healthy red color.

His eyes were on his injured limb. The swelling, which caused great anxiety in Mel at first, seemed to come down slowly. The cave that his grandfather inherited was a truly extraordinary place. It was his secret shelter, where he could take refuge no matter what happens and where he had everything he needed to heal himself.

Having rested for half a day, Mel jumped out of the water in which he had gone in pain, and threw off his clothes, which had been harmed by the wolf’s claw blows.

“My right-hand feels a little stronger, I must try this!”

Looking at his injured hand, Mel saw that he had recovered. In fact, the feeling his right hand gave was completely different than the feeling it gave before the struggle. Mel was confident that if he ran into the wild beast again, his hand wouldn’t suffer such great damage after he hit it in the same way.

Since he was alone in the big cave, he didn’t waste his time getting dressed up and rushed towards the room where there were all kinds of puppets. As soon as he passed the short, stone corridor, he hit his closest target with the Dragon’s Claw, which he had learned from his master grandfather.

“No way! My right hand is really strong! ”

Fortunately for the young boy, his first target was a wooden puppet, and Mel managed to split the human-shaped puppet in half with his right hand, which he had turned into a three-fingered paw.

“Let’s try it with the left hand!”

The little boy, who entered his first fight and finished it with victory in a short time, wished that his left hand would be strengthened like his right hand. But he got disappointed since only a part of the target that received the blow was broken.

Due to the experience he had, only Mel’s right hand had grown stronger. Although he was a little bit displeased, he could understand that it wasn’t possible to get stronger without sacrifice.

“This issue has been clarified. It’s time to clarify the other!”

Her next stop was the herb garden. Having the opportunity to think about what happened during the half-day rest, Mel wanted to be sure of something.

“Apparently, not only do they share their energy with me, but they can help out by their own free will after getting in touch.”

His eyes sparkled with the thought that crossed his mind. Especially the possibility of getting help made him very excited.

“It is certain that there will be more and more powerful enemies opposing me. If I come back here after each fight and wait for recovery, I will not be able to capture my grandfather’s deep legacy in three years.”

Even when Mel lived in his small village, many times he saw people using herbs to treat themselves. In a place where all kinds of rare plants grow, of course, there must be something to learn about.

After he let himself into the water to relieve the tiredness of training, he stuck his consciousness into the ring he inherited. He put the large book that he could carry with both hands on the table and began to turn the pages.

As he had guessed, the botanical garden inside the cave and the plants in his memory were not the results of a coincidence. His grandfather seemed to have truly unique knowledge on this subject.

“Although I know many things, why don’t I remember everything written in this book?”

The little boy thought for a while before answering the question he asked himself, and when he realized what was going on, a bitter smile appeared on his face.

“How can I access all of my grandfather’s wisdom when I’m still at the level of shallow legacy?”

Mel involuntarily discovered something very important. The topics in the book were listed according to various titles, but some pages were just blank papers.

“Apparently, I will constantly face such constraints unless I get stronger. I need to speed up my development as soon as possible!”

“Herbal Blends! Here I found them!”

After rapidly turning over the pages, he reached the first texts following the introduction section. It was a huge coincidence that he found exactly what he was looking for.

“Durability recovery mixture, power recovery mixture, healing powder, antidote mixture!”

When his hands started to shake because of what he had read, he slowly laid the book on the table and gave his attention to the recipes.

“The formulas are left here for me and it says that the ingredients are all in clay pots on the shelves. I have to do my first try now! ”

Mel, who was in the water down from his waist when opened his eyes, jumped out of the stream with a nimble move and moved in a direction he had never gone before.

He left the wide, middle part of the cave and entered a new room through a tunnel-shaped short path. The moment he took his first step inside, he was petrified.

“Unbelievable!”

It took some time for his brain to comprehend what he saw. He began to examine the place by picking up an object on which two metal plates in the shape of a pan were chained together.

“Even though I cannot reach the shallow heritage yet, I have all the information in my head.”

He knew the names and uses of all the tools. His grandfather’s old workplace, like his memories, was inherited from him. What was needed was to work non-stop until he could master this action, as if he had been doing this since his birth.
