chapter – 101 – Ambushing an Old Friend

Epsilon looked at the monsters rapidly heading towards the gaps in the wall, which would let them cross over to the city. He knew he would stress himself out a bit but he still summoned Regular Anubites.

With one thought from him, more than 100 Regular Anubites appeared on the battleground — this was already his summoning limit.

The Regular Anubites attacked the magical creatures trying to enter the city from the gaps. The Anubites were faster, smarter and stronger than most of these creatures and they easily handled them. Except for the Waterlover Turtles, the Stone Giants and the One-Handed Hunter Snakes, nobody was a match for these Anubites.

The magical and summoned creatures took on each other on the one side, while on the other side, Nick heard back from the Reaper Anubite that had headed to the West. The West Reaper Anubite used magical energy to communicate, and Epsilon heard its clear voice in his head.

“My Lord, there are some Werfur mages here. They are moving slowly, using land vehicles and machines. Their level is not much and there are about 50 to 100 of them.”

Nick nodded and took a deep breath before communicating with the East Reaper Anubite.

“East Reaper Anubite, did you find anything?”

The Anubite answered.

“No, My Lord, nothing can be seen here.”

Nick touched his head in some thoughts and then issued his order.

“West Reaper Anubite, wait for East Reaper Anubite to come towards you. After that, you two group up, and I will send some troops your way. Destroy the Werfur race army; do not hesitate to kill this time.”

The two Reaper Anubites responded to Nick’s order in unison.

“By your orders, My Lord!”

“By your orders, My Lord!”

Nick knew these Reaper Anubites were not futile creatures. In terms of magical level, their levels were almost the same as him. Their intelligence was not lesser than ordinary humans and maybe even higher than some, because they shared a connection with him.

They could judge a situation and act accordingly. They were not soulless mechanical bodies that executed whatever was told to them. But they were flesh and bones, intelligent beings, that while summoned by him, had some freedom in making their decisions.

As he gave out the order, Nick looked at the Stone Ancestor Giant that was slowly closing in. The third War Machine – Model 3 also could be seen at the same time.

Nick was still wondering what he could do when a sound of fuel-based thrusters came from behind him, and he turned to see another machine.

‘Eagle Fighter – (Machine – Human Race)’

‘Student Level 2’

‘Description’

‘A metal machine made up for wars. It uses ‘Ether Stone Thrusters’ for movement and ‘Ether Stone Explosion’ for levitation.’

‘Eagle Energy Bolt’

‘An eagle-shaped bolt of energy that causes explosive damage.’

‘Etheric Energy Defense’

‘A basic shield mechanism that uses ‘Ether Stone’ in the reserves of ‘machine’ for protection.’

Nick understood in one glance that these fighter machines are not effective as the War Machine – Level 3 in themselves but there was one important thing that stood out about them.

The models of these machines were not too complex or sophisticated. It was a basic eagle-like shape that was not more than two to three meters wide. To put it simply, these were just large-sized drones.

Due to their simplicity in design, the Blue Tear Empire produced several of these machines. This gave it the advantage of volume.

“Viiiuvvv”

“Fuffff”

In a matter of seconds, more than 100 Eagle Fighters started levitating and shooting Eagle Energy Bolt on the ground.

Nick weighed in the situation and immediately started flying along with the Eagle Fighters, heading towards the Stone Ancestor Giant.

Nick reached the Stone Ancestor Giant soon enough, and the creature looked at him with neutral eyes. Rather, it seemed there was something wrong with its expression.

The Stone Ancestor Giant pointed a hand towards himself and whispered some gibberish that was difficult to understand.

“??????”

However, as the Stone Ancestor Giant whispered, stones the size of human fists and heads manifested and shot towards Nick with a decent amount of speed, almost the same speed as a bullet. But a bullet was not as heavy as a stone. This force, hence, was different and would be more powerful if it hit the target.

Nick was visibly shocked. He had fought different kinds of battles ever since he had come to this world but he was not accustomed to dealing with attacks like these. His understanding from the beginning was that kinetic energy was not used in this world at all. Most of the mages and magical creatures used energy-based attacks such as bolts, elements or other nature-based resources. Nobody would have thought that simply hurling a stone at super-speed was enough to create a force that could annihilate most monsters and mages if needed.

The world of mages had evolved in a way that almost all mages and humans were not guarding against kinetic-based attacks. The only reason for a mage or a warrior to protect themselves against such attacks would be if they looked to shield themselves from arrows shot from a bow. However, in the eyes of these magical warriors, they would not need to protect themselves from such small threats. This was why they did not think as far as kinetic protection. Consequently, all their magic would succumb to a simple stone.

This trait was common to humans as well.

Nick thought of these things because he believed that the creature in front of him also had similar thoughts as him.

Many mages had no kinetic protection, so they could not stop or escape the attacks from this Stone Ancestor Giant. However, this was not the case for Nick. The stones that were met with his magical defense, crumbled like dust.

Nick had purposely created a shield like this. Was there anything better or more useful than gravity to stop kinetic energy-based attacks?

These kinds of stones could not pass even the first level of his double defense system. Not only had he boosted his ‘Titanium-Aluminide Blood Magic Shield’ at one time, but he had also created a ‘Magnetic Gravity Aura Shield’ as an overall cloak to protect himself.

Their combined power was nothing to be scoffed at, and Nick knew this.

The present situation was not in the Stone Ancestor Giant’s favor. The behemoth did not expect it would meet a counter to its power in this simple battle. Nick did not waste any time now. He laughed as he eyed the Magister Level Stone Ancestor Giant, looking for some payback.
