chapter – 109 – mission Ravia

Mission Ravia — A Star Solution

The problem for Epsilon was not creating a powerful energy generation device but doing so while hiding his true capabilities. For some time, he was immersed in putting the right compositions in place.

‘Star Panel’

‘Knowledge 1’

‘A solar cell panel, solar electric panel, photo-voltaic (PV) module or just solar panel is an assembly of photovoltaic cells mounted in a framework for installation. Solar panels used sunlight as a source of energy to generate direct current electricity. A collection of PV modules was called a PV panel, and a system of PV panels was called an array. Arrays of a photovoltaic system supply solar electricity to electrical equipment.’

‘Knowledge 2’

Once Epsilon listed out the three pieces of important knowledge about the Solar Panel in the spell and the item description of the Star Panel, he took a deep breath and smiled.

Right now, he owned 500,000 Ether Stones. He was not creating a magical spell or a low-leveled item, and hence he needed the right materials — high-quality metals. Due to their expertise in such requirements, he called out Void Dealer and purchased about one ton each of steel and aluminium, and paid 1000 Ether Stones.

These steel and aluminium were not like the ones on Earth but were of a much higher quality and were purer. This price was high for almost all organizations and other individual mages but was in the normal range for mages such as Epsilon. The Void Dealership and Void Market was no child store. They were very unlikely to deal in transactions that were lesser than 1000 Ether Stones.

“The materials are here. Now, I need to start working on saving the produced energy and transporting it.”

Epsilon started writing again.

‘Lithium-Ion Battery’

‘Knowledge 1’

‘A lithium-ion battery or Li-ion battery was a type of rechargeable battery in which lithium ions move from the negative electrode through an electrolyte to the positive electrode during discharge, and back when charging. Li-ion batteries used an intercalated lithium compound as the material at the positive electrode and typically graphite at the negative electrode.’

‘Li-ion batteries have a high energy density, no memory effect (other than LFP cells) and low self-discharge. Cells can be manufactured to either prioritize energy or power.’

For battery, Epsilon used the knowledge of ‘Lithium-Ion Battery’. Of course, this battery was not strong enough to hold the energy he wanted but that was no problem. In the end, the knowledge of Lithium-Ion Battery was used only for completing the spell and served as an idea for Epsilon’s spell-making mechanism.

With magical enchantment, the battery would be stronger and capable enough to hold the energy produced without any problem.

The real test, however, would be transporting this energy.

“This is the hardest part to complete.”

Epsilon thought to himself. Creating an item producing energy and creating a battery holding the energy created was not difficult. The challenge was transporting the produced energy to machines and other places that needed energy without any physical links such as cables or cords.

Epsilon needed to create a wireless energy transportation system that existed in Earth’s technology but was still in its infancy. However, he believed that with the use of magic and Fantasia, he could create the right transport system.

‘INS Energy Transportation’

‘Knowledge 1’

‘Wireless power transfer (WPT), wireless power transmission, wireless energy transmission (WET), or electromagnetic power transfer was the transmission of electrical energy without wires as a physical link. In a wireless power transmission system, a transmitter device, driven by electric power from a power source, generating a time-varying electromagnetic field that transmitted power across space to a receiver device, which extracted power from the field and supplied it to an electrical load.’

The technology of wireless power transmission can eliminate the use of wires and batteries, thus increasing the mobility, convenience and safety of an electronic device for all users. Wireless power transfer was useful to power electrical devices, where interconnecting wires are inconvenient, hazardous or impossible.

‘Knowledge 2’

‘Wireless power techniques mainly fall into two categories — near field and far-field. In a near field or non-radiative technique, power was transferred over short distances by magnetic fields using inductive coupling between coils of wire, or by electric fields using capacitive coupling between metal electrodes.’

Inductive coupling was the most widely used wireless technology. Its applications included charging handheld devices like phones and electric toothbrushes, tags, induction cooking and wirelessly charging or continuous wireless power transfer in implantable medical devices like artificial cardiac pacemakers or electric vehicles.

‘In a far-field or radiative technique, also called power beaming, power was transferred by beams of electromagnetic radiation, like microwaves or laser beams. These techniques could transport energy at longer distances but must be aimed at the receiver. Proposed applications for this type are solar power satellites and wireless powered drone aircraft.’

An important issue associated with all wireless power systems was limiting the exposure of people and other living beings to potentially injurious electromagnetic fields.

After Epsilon set out the knowledge needed for transportation, he took one last look at the papers and made some adjustments. He then used his magical energy to activate the knowledge on the scale to show the results.

Within three seconds, the Star Panel Spell, the Lithium-Ion Battery and the INS (Instant) Energy Transportation Spell were all activated. While they were activated and worked properly, but no result was seen for the time being.

This was not surprising because these spells needed a subject to be cast on and had to work with items. They were not created as standalone spells or showed effects on their own. Epsilon knew this and deactivated the three spells.

He left his office to eat something before planning the item that he could use for testing the spell. He still knew how to enjoy his life.

At this time, he was also notified that five Werfurs would be coming to his land to meet him about their last discussed matters. It appeared the Werfur race wanted to restore the relationship with himself, at least to the degree of a neutral friendship. The bitter war had ensured the Golden Agreement would not be possible for a long time.
