As he was observing the Green Spider Race members, something popped into Epsilon’s mind. In reality, he had thought of it before as well but he did not have any personal relationship with the Green Spider Race and hence, he did not care about it as such. But now he was starting to wonder why these green-legged beings were not calling for any help.
Why were they not sending a single message out to their race to help them in fixing the warp drive? He asked this question to himself, and he found himself answering it as well.
“It must be because that they do not have enough technology to send a message far away.”
Epsilon at this time found Sparia and stood up to speak to him.
“Sparia, may I ask why you or your crew have not sent a message to your homeworld? They could send some support that could help you and you could go back home faster.”
Hearing Epsilon’s words, Sparia’s eyes changed. In fact, his whole body started turning a shade of red as if he was very embarrassed.
A few seconds later, as if he was looking to bite a bullet, Sparia steadied himself and answered.
“I was not truthful to you about some of the matters.”
Epsilon tilted his head slightly and did not say anything, letting Sparia continue to talk.
“We are not just a survey team of our race. In reality, the race itself has broken down into three factions. There is infighting between these factions to claim leadership of the whole race.”
Epsilon finally understood the matter and shook his head as he thought.
“Politics.”
Sparia continued with his explanation. He was feeling ashamed because he lied to Epsilon. Therefore, he wanted to come clean. Also, he wanted to ask Epsilon for help so he wanted to improve his image in his eyes.
“There are three factions that had built the race itself. The Green Spider Race controls two star systems with 10 planets orbiting these stars. The three factions are Green Lords, Green Scientists and Green Adventure Factions. In the olden times, the race was in the state of oligarchy. The three factions attended meetings and developed the race. The individuals of the races were controlled and the responsibility of the three factions and their leaders.”
Epsilon listened wordlessly as he realized this was a serious matter for Sparia.
Sparia then added.
“I am the leader of the Green Adventure Faction. Each faction had a role they played in their origins. From their names, you can understand what they sought.”
Epsilon this time added.
“Lord symbolizes power and authority. They wanted a battle-type of civilization and more resources and wars.”
“Scientist is self-explanatory. They want to have a basic understanding of the universe, produce scientific results and earn income from that turning it into a civilization of science.”
“Adventure is basically a bunch of adventurers who believe that spending their life on the journey towards stars and new planets was the best thing.”
Sparia nodded and started talking.
“About 15 years ago, a battle broke out between the three factions. As a war-minded faction, the Green Lords Faction had the advantage and in the middle, the Green Scientist Faction was faring well. Our people were the adventurous kind from the start. They were already at some kind of an adventure or in other places, and we were not united.”
“Because of this, not much time later, we were defeated and escaped with the One Sattelite ship. Since then, we are living in space for five years now. It is our bad luck that our warp drive faulted and stopped working properly. If it was back then, calling some personnel from the Green Science Faction would be easy and there would be no problems. But this is not possible anymore.”
Epsilon listened to everything Sparia had to say and nodded.
“What can I do to help you?”
Sparia felt grateful to Epsilon already. He thoughtfully answered.
“You have already done enough for us. As for your question, I believe you have already understood. We cannot use communication to call for help as it would make us targets for everyone.”
Epsilon nodded and started talking.
“Let me once again assure you though, as long as you are with me, no basic star civilization or any organization like that would be able to harm you and your race members.”
Sparia nodded and answered as he turned to go back to his people.
“You are capable of using Void Dealer. Even if our race was 10 times stronger, we would not have that kind of power or rights to use the Void Market. I am aware that you alone are enough to take out our entire race without any problem.”
Epsilon took a deep breath and did not say anything as Sparia went to his race members. But he did not miss anything at all.
It seemed that for people of the stars and civilizations, having connections meant a big thing. The ability to contact and speak with Void Dealer, make deals and transactions with the Void Market showed real power and respect in space.
Truthfully, he was not able to understand this matter. Even when he was weak, Epsilon had engaged in transactions with the Void Dealer.
He did not know why it was considered important, prestigious or a show of power to deal with Void Dealer.
He fell deep into thought again as he sat on his couch and started drinking tea. But then he decided to stop thinking about the Void Dealer or the Green Spider Race. It would be best for him to focus on what he was planning to do if he wanted a future where he could do whatever he wanted to and change things the way he liked.

Sparia who thought about past events had a sad look in his eyes, not to mention the feeling of loss towards everything. As the leader of the Green Adventure Faction, he was no warmonger. He just wanted to meet new beings, discover hidden planets and understand the secrets of ancient temples and past civilizations. He wanted Green Spider Race to be curious and understand more of what was around them, and nothing more.
But it seemed it was not easy to want such things.
