Nick woke up refreshed and began studying his surroundings. After noticing that he was sleeping on the ground, he sighed and smiled.
He still did not get caught.
Without wasting much time, he got up to his feet and followed the map, heading to his destination. Along the way, he took out some food and water from the space ring, consuming it while still on the move.
At this very same time, in another place, to be specific in a castle in Blue Pear City, a middle-aged man was inspecting a woman’s cold body on a marble table, with a sense of loss in his eyes. This middle-aged man had grey hair, a strong-looking body, and an extraordinary demeanor.
This was Artor Devian, the father of Elena Devian, the very same mage whom Nick had killed. Last night, the school had notified him about Elena’s death.
Artor brought his daughter’s body out of Blue Tear Mage School and immediately began mobilizing mages of the Devian Family to find her murderer.
No one suspected Nick because he was a slave who did not have the ability to kill Elena. The primary suspects, hence, were the mage students, mages, and mage guards — basically anyone who had magical capabilities.
The investigation began with Devian Family Mage Investigator and Doctor. The Devian Family Mage Investigator, a man called Arkian Narta, was known to use several magical spells in order to investigate secrets and events such as the death of Elena Devian.
Artor gave him a sizable sum of gold coins to investigate the events at the school that had led to this incident. Blue Tear Mage School was caught on the wrong foot. The ‘incident’ was the murder of one of their own students, while on the school premises, in a not-so-easy-to-access experiment room no less.
Therefore, not only did they not object to Artor’s investigation, but they even helped him in the matter.
This is not to say Blue Tear Mage School was scared of the Devian Family; at the end of the day, the school itself had Blue Tear City’s backing. But should this news get around, it was sure to create problems with the City Council, especially for the Blue Tear Mage School President, Blair Felen.
The Devian Family Mage Doctor was a woman called Lilly Devian. As the surname indicated, she was a member of the Devian Family, who had inspected corpses and other health matters of the family.
As soon as Lilly examined Elena’s corpse, she immediately knew the cause of death.
“Explain it to me Lilly.” Artor looked at Lilly, and asked.
Lilly was a short woman with black hair, but was a natural beauty. She always wore a primal mask on her face.
She took a deep breath and began her analysis.
“It is clear that she was killed by a magical spell. The attacker cast two spells to kill Princess Elena. The spell was a single target spell and needed basic control of magical energy. But this is not a known spell or even who could have created something like this. At least, I have not seen such a spell before.”
Artor digested this information for a little bit. He asked, “So, you are saying that the spell used to kill my daughter was a newly created spell. But any mage could have easily learned how to cast it?”
Lilly nodded.
“Yes, my lord. The spell is easy to cast but the mindset, and the idea behind it, are different from what I have seen before. The attacker first cast the spell and gravely injured Princess Elena. After that, the attacker used the same spell on the same area, not giving the Princess any chance to survive this attack.”
Artor calmed his mind and started thinking.
“This means that the attacker not only wanted to kill my daughter but also most likely had some kind of a deep grudge towards her or maybe towards the Devian Family. Did you find my daughter’s slave? Maybe he saw something that could help our investigation.”
Lilly answered while still inspecting Elena’s body with her magical eyes.
“My lord, Mage Investigator Lord Arkian went to find the slave to question him. However, because of Elena’s death, many slaves tried to escape, and some used basic tools to attack other students. So, the school grounds and slave life zones are still crowded.”
Artor did not say anything further and dismissed Lilly. As Lilly left the throne room, Artor smiled at Elena’s dead body, and started speaking.
“I will try to find a way to give you a new life. If your brain was not destroyed, you may still live in the form of an undead….”

Nick kept running and moving faster. But the plantation around him was a hindrance. As he walked, he finally found a place he could stop at. This place was around a small lake. He was going towards the lake to wash his face when he noticed a creature that resembled a deer.
Right at this moment, a different panel of the system showed itself.
‘Andrium Deer’
‘Ordinary Animal’
The creature he saw was a deer of some kind. There were not many differences between the deer from Earth and the one he was seeing right now.
He inhaled deeply and whispered.
“This is a good time for me to practice.”
Without a moment’s notice, he cast the ‘Energy Bullet’ spell, attacking the deer’s head.
‘Fiuuuv’
The spell took less than a second to take form. Compared to creating a spell for casting, now he only needed to think about the spell’s formula.
The Energy Bullet shot from Nick’s hands and pierced the Andrium Deer’s head so quick that it was a near painless death. The Energy Bullet did not stop after piercing the deer’s skull; it embedded itself into the tree next to the deer’s carcass.
Nick closed his eyes and started thinking.
“After covering my trails and finding a place for myself, given my capability and knowledge, I will be a strong mage capable of doing many things without needing anybody at all.”
Nick was aware that he had to find ways to return to Earth. There was a woman he liked, someone whom he always liked in fact.
When the time to go back came, it was possible that his power would have reached a level that all of the technology and power on Earth would not be enough to stop him.
