Chapter 3 – Golden Finger

Nick woke up and looked around to check his surroundings.

After surveying his surroundings, he nodded his head and took a deep breath.

Now certain that he wasn’t dreaming, he gave a profound smile.

“Thankfully, I wasn’t dreaming. Had it been just a dream… Sigh. It’s good.”

After getting rid of useless thoughts, Nick began thinking about his current situation.

Seconds later, his door opened, and the girl from back then entered.

After going through his memories, Nick now knew that the girl was named Elena Davian.

After glaring at him for some time, Elena began speaking.

The way she looked at him was as if he was some sort of animal.

You know how you look at animals and sometimes think, “I’m above them?” Well, that was exactly how she looked at him.

“You have five minutes to get ready. Follow me after that.”

After giving out her orders, she left the room without looking back at Nick.

Dear Readers. Scrapers have recently been devasting our views. At this rate, the site (creativenovels .com) might...let's just hope it doesn't come to that. If you are reading on a scraper site. Please don't.

After taking a deep breath, he quickly got dressed and left his room.

As soon as he got out, he saw that Elena was about to reach the school grounds. Unwilling to get punished for being slow, he rushed towards her.

Today, Elena was wearing a dark, slim-fit dress.

Nick felt no attraction towards her, but he had to accept that she had an incredible figure.

From the back, that figure was all too appealing.

She would’ve been perfect if not for her evil mindset and seemingly insane personality.

As Nick followed Elena, he began thinking about the school and the surrounding buildings.

He had seen three buildings in the two days he had stayed here, and from his memories, he could recall fifteen more.

The three buildings he had seen were: the Experiment Building, the Main Courtyard Building, and the Cafeteria Building.

Now, this didn’t mean he had turned a blind eye towards the other buildings in the last two days.

Only allowed on Creativenovels.com

He was a slave, and their kind wasn’t really allowed to enter buildings.

So, even though he had memories about the interior of the buildings, he had no idea about their interior or what purpose they served.

As they were walking, Nick noticed the Experiment Building.

“I just hope the experiments conducted in this building aren’t like the ones I read about in horror novels.”

From what he had gained after reading numerous novels back on earth, slaves were often used as lab rats for freakish experiments.

Sadly, the memories of this body had no info about the experiments conducted in the building.

After a twenty-minute walk, they were finally at the Experiment Building.

There are a lot of mage guards around the building.

Normally, they would’ve stopped a slave like him from entering the building. However, since he was with his master, Elena, he wasn’t stopped.

Nick followed Elena and entered the enormous building, which was shaped like a pyramid. Which Nick did not expected to see a building in the shape of pyramid.

Elena went forward and spoke with a middle-aged woman who was sitting on a chair at the entrance.

‘She must be a worker here,’ thought Nick. From the look of middle-aged woman and expressions on her face it was easy to understand that she was accustomed to students come to her with their slaves.

After about a minute, Elena took a key from the middle-aged woman and started walking. Nick followed behind.

As they were walking, Nick’s eyes scanned every nook and cranny of the building, trying to deduce information from every small thing.

On the walls, he could see words and sentences in a language he couldn’t understand. Despite not understanding the language, he found it quite similar to the old languages on earth.

“If I get a chance in the future, I would like to do some research,”

Nick whispered to himself.

Soon, they arrived in front of a door, which Elena opened with the key and then signaled Nick with her eyes to go in.

Without resisting, Nick did what Elena wanted.

After Nick entered the room, Elena followed behind and walked towards her table. Once she was in front of her table, she picked up the reading material and documents on her table. Nick believed this room was Elena’s office. At least it was a place for a student to conduct her experiments.

The room had no windows but was filled with books and documents. The room itself wasn’t well decorated and had a basic design. It was efficient and simple by any standards

Elena looked at Nick and said, “Stay in front of me without moving.”

Nick did what he was told. Elena pointed her finger at him; abruptly, he felt a sharp pain in his mind and body.

Within seconds, he dropped to the ground due to the intense pain.

In just five seconds, his will to endure faded, and he began screaming in pain.

As he writhed and screamed in pain, he saw Elena looking at him.

She had no pity or sympathy; instead, she was having fun and nodding from time to time. It seems that giving pain to Nick gives her pleasure.

Nick gulped and finally understood what they did in the Experiment Building.

“So, this is what they use their slaves for, Human Experiments. She is testing a spell on me.”

The pain was getting more intense with each passing second, and he could feel his body getting heavier and weaker. When Elena saw that he was about to lose consciousness, she retracted her finger. The reason why Elena stopped not because she worried for the life of Nick, she just thought having to deal with finding another slave is too much of hassle.

Before Nick went unconscious, he kept his gaze trained at her.

When he finally regained his consciousness, he took a deep breath. Right now, his body was feeling a throbbing pain and his head felt unusually heavy.

After remembering the experiment Elena performed on him, he knew the reason behind his plight.

As he was trying to get up, a beep sound resonated inside his head, and the blue status panel opened in front of his eyes.

[Name]: Nick

{Information: The user can list spells he saw or knows to the system. Once listed in the system, the user can use the spells after gathering enough knowledge about the spells. The knowledge can come from books or from the user’s comprehension of the spell. At the same time user could use his mind and imagination to deduce how the listed spell is working and earn “Proficiency” .

  • The user is not a conventional mage as he doesn’t have a magical pool.
  • Since the user isn’t dependent on a magical pool, he can use any spell more times than a conventional mage.
  • Beware, though! Excessive use can knock you unconscious or even lead to death.}

Nick read all the information given to him by the system and laughed for the first time.

This wasn’t his usual smile; he was laughing like a normal human.

This notification from the system finally proved one of his assumptions right.

He didn’t come into this world as a helpless fool.

He could use any spell as long as he experienced it or saw it once. All he had to do was list it to the system, gather knowledge, and research the spell just like a scientist.

Moreover, his lack of magic pool/mana pool helped him one up every single human in this world.

“I will have my revenge on this insane woman!”
