Chapter 31 – Epsilon – Hunt

As Epsilon (Nick) was watching the cave’s entrance, he heard Rabial’s voice coming from the ring that Rabial had given to him.

“Epsilon, I have drawn the attention of undead creatures inside the cave. It is most likely that after the necromancer’s undeads are killed, the necromancer himself or herself will show up as well. Be ready and wait for my word to kill the necromancer.”

Nick touched the ring and affirmed.

“I understand.”

Nick had just finished his words when more than 20 skeletons holding swords, started emerging from the cave. At that time, Rabial whispered something, and two human-shaped blue figures manifested. Both of these figures were at least 1.9 meters tall, each holding a lightning sword. They had no face or any kind of human features such as ears, eyes, mouth, or nose. They looked much like mannequins, which back in Nick’s world were used to display clothes.

As soon as Rabial had conjured them, they ran towards the undead creatures and started slaying the skeletons easily, every hit accounting for a kill. Their speed and power were both formidable. Nick believed that if the range between these creatures and him were any lesser, they could kill him as well.

Within 40 seconds, without any help from Nick, the 20 skeleton warriors were killed by the two blue-shaped figures that Rabial had summoned.

At exactly this time, a female figure showed herself at the cave’s entrance. The female was a human, and she was beautiful. She wore black mage robes, and her blue-colored eyes were particularly charming. She appeared to be around 24 to 26 years old.

She gazed at Rabial for about five seconds and started talking.

“I do not understand why a Werfur battlemage is trying to harm me by killing my undeads.”

Even though she was posing a question, her expression was of indifference and pride. The air was tense, and Rabial’s two Blue Sage Warriors were waiting by his side for the order to attack the woman.

Rabial smiled and answered.

“Your doings are affecting the Anderium Forest. This does not suit our Werfur City. I am here to stop you from using your necromancy magic here so that the forest will not be tainted by your magic.”

Rabial voiced his thoughts and waited for an answer. The female necromancer listened to him, and then started laughing.

“Do you believe that you rabbits have any control over me or my friends? Do you really believe that I am all alone…”

The female necromancer was still in the middle of her sentence, when, as if on cue, five different mages showed themselves at the Underbroom Cave’s entrance. They were all wearing black mage robes, indicating that they too were familiar with the art of the undead. Three of them were males and the other two were females. The only common characteristic underlying all of them was that they all looked young.

Rabial at this time whispered.

“Epsilon, they have already started forming a coven, an organization formed by dark mages or dark magic users. Kill them all.”

Rabial was still alerting Nick, when the six necromancers including the first female necromancer, cast their spells and summoned different types of undeads. In their view, there was no need for any more exchange of words with this Werfur.

Nick’s time of action had arrived. He readied himself and created five Sonic Bullets. The bullets manifested in three to five seconds and Nick marked the heads of all six necromancers as his targets. Once this was done, and the real battle was about to begin, Nick whispered.

“Sonic Bullets!”

The six Sonic Bullets shot towards their respective targets.

“One”

“Two”

“Three”

Within seconds, three necromancers dropped dead. Their heads had burst open after being hit by the Sonic bullets. The other three, including the leader female necromancer, were alive only because they had some defensive means protecting them.

The female necromancer was saved due to a bone shield that had formed to protect her head, as the bullet was just going to hit her.

The other male necromancer saved himself because of a black energy shield that from the looks of it, was not created by any good means.

And the last necromancer that dodged Nick’s bullet, was a short-heighted female necromancer. As the bullet was about to hit her, a large human skeleton materialized and protected her from the bullet.

No matter the current situation, three necromancers had succumbed to Nick’s attack without much of a fight. The lead female necromancer finally showed a trace of fear. She did not expect to lose three necromancers at the start of the battle itself. Considering that this ‘rabbit’ battlemage had a helper who was proficient in long-range magic in addition to two Blue Sage Warriors, she was no longer confident whether she and her helpers could withstand their attack.

Rabial laughed a little and started talking.

“I guess it is my turn to ask – do you really believe that I am all alone trying to confront a necromancer hideout?”

Rabial’s words shook the female necromancer to the core. However, her survival instincts immediately kicked in and she moved to attack.

“Tribute to Dark Demon Weirnos, Black Lover Warriors!”

Without a moment’s delay, the female necromancer used her strongest spell. The Tribute and Sacrifice spells were spells that were cast without any magic energy but used ‘soul’. This soul came from either a human or any other living being’s sacrifice.

To specifically muster a Black Lover Warriors spell, about 50 human souls were needed. This meant that every time the female necromancer cast this spell, she needed to consume 50 human souls. The only way she could cast such a spell was to kill 50 humans for every single time.

As soon as she cast the spell, Rabial’s eyes turned serious. As an experienced battlemage, he knew about the existence of the Tribute and Sacrificial Spells.

Within seconds, five creatures were erected in front of the female necromancer. They looked like knights in black armor. All five of them were females, and it said that their history was somewhat complicated.

These five women were the first groomed knights of an ancient empire but all of them were killed by their loved ones either because of jealousy or other such reasons. This made them connect with the demon lord Weirnos and fight for him, in exchange for their souls. They made this deal because of their anger towards humans —- especially male humans.
