Chapter 49 – Epsilon Mask

As the Deep Water Organization’s Imper Level mages stepped back, putting a safe distance between them and the cave, Nick finally came out of hiding and showed himself. However, he could still be considered ‘faceless’ because Nick chose to wear a mask for his first appearance.

This was a mask he created when he was first assigned the office in the Anderium Forest Werfur Base. It made Nick look expressionless. The plain, white-colored mask had two eye sockets, and a symbol at the middle.

The symbol was ‘Epsilon’, and it was inspired by the image of Earth.

On seeing this opponent who had made them use Unique Spells and run across the forest, Elic and the others glared at him with killing intent. This was natural after his one-sided massacre of their members.

Nick, who perceptively felt this killing intent directed at him, smiled behind the mask and tilted his head slightly to the right. At first glance, it looked like there was a mysterious madman behind this mask, whose next actions were unpredictable.

“Why do I feel animosity from you people? You were the ones who invaded land that did not belong to you. When you enter someone else’s home without invitation and face resistance, do you have the privilege to resent it? Is it not natural that the ones who are invaded, will fight back? Would you not if this was your home?”

Nick’s words resonated with Elic and the others. They knew they had no right to admonish the enemy. What he said was completely correct. This was payback — holding a grudge was childish and shirking responsibility.

Elic at this time started speaking.

“I do have a question. From your voice and body, it is clear that you are human. But if I am not mistaken, the rights of the Underbroom Cave now belong to the Werfur Race. Why are you involved in this matter?”

Elic furrowed her brows as she asked this. Not only her, but Arimo, Avir, Lilly, and Verantil too were itching to know the answer to this.

It was not common for humans to help other races. Also, the fact that a human was hunting them, made them more curious.

Nick smirked and answered.

“I saw or received nothing good from humans unlike from the other races. Even though I have the body of a human, it was not enough for them to have a good relationship with me. Despite my human pedigree, humans only behaved evil towards me. So, I switched sides. Is there a problem with that?”

Elic and the others exchanged uncertain looks. They did not get it. They did not know Nick’s history. Who would have thought the enemy who pushed them to their limits was barely a week-old mage? In fact, when he first time opened his eyes in this new world, he was a slave who personally witnessed the evildoings that humans were capable of against their own race, in this multi-race world.

In their minds, Nick’s capabilities and power were top-notch. There should be no reason for any human or other creatures to behave badly towards him. Most of the humans and other mages would not even dare to show disrespect to him on account of his sheer power. They believed a mage of Nick’s power could not be shown any evil or disrespect in the human circle.

While they were still wondering, Nick was not idle. He moved his hands and targeted more than five Imper-Level members who by now had backed down towards the inside of the Anderium Forest. The Sonic Bullets, like always, hit the targets spot on, as he finished casting the spell.

The five senior mages first thought that the attack was targeted at them but within a second, they realized their folly.

But the damage was done. The spells bypassed them and killed five more of their members, bringing the numbers to 390.

Elic and the other mages did not delay any longer and instantly broke into battle attacking the cave.

Nick smiled as he gazed up at the sky and whispered.

“The sun is waking up. With my Electrical Domain Shield’s energy-regeneration capability absorbing solar power, they have no chance of destroying this shield. As they work on that, I need to clear a spell for range damage, capable of harming these.”

Nick knew at a glance that his spells were yet not capable of beating these five superior mages; not considering that there was a peak Imper-Level mage who was trying to defuse the shield by himself.

Elic looked at the shield and cast her strongest single, individual attack spell. Water-element-shaped energy collected in her hands and turned itself into a weird knife shape. She whispered.

“Origin Water Knife.” The knife-shaped energy shot towards the shield as soon as Elic’s spell was cast.

Avir and the others got busy as well.

Avir cast a high-powered basic water spell.

“Potent Water Spear”. A spear made of pure water, but solid like ice, shot towards the shield.

Arimo cast an explosive-type water spell, which was rare for the ‘Water Element’.

“Water Dragon Burst.” A dragon form, the size of a human arm, emerged from the Arimo’s right hand and shot towards the shield.

Verantil chose to cast a high-powered basic water spell too.

“Water Lord Sword”. A sword embellished with different types of designs, compared to ordinary swords, directly shot towards the shield at high speed.

As the leader and three captains of the Deep Water Organization entered into attack mode, the team’s healing captain, Lilly, did not cast any attack spell. She instead cast a buff-type spell.

“Water Blessings.” With Lilly’s words, the spell shot by her teammates became more powerful and potent. Each one of them, including Elic, felt their powers were surging, filling them with magical energy. There are buff-spells that used for increasing the power of teammates and debuff spells for weaken to spells and physical body of enemy. As a healer of some sort Lilly is capable of using both.

Within three seconds, every attack spell cast by the enemy directly hit the cave’s entrance and a high scale explosion sounded across the mountain and the forest. The sound was strong but not like a fire-explosive…
