chapter 95 – land – Close

Blissfully ignorant of his fame, Nick completed his meal and left the Binding Lights Tavern. Since the purchase of land was on top of his list, he made some inquiries in line with what he had learned from his conversation with Baron Agriman in context to the property buying protocols of the city.

Very soon, he reached the gates of Blue Tear Land Official Building. The distance was not much and it barely took Nick a few minutes of walking to reach here. It appeared that the Wind Gate entrance made everything much easier.

This made sense as the people who entered from the Wind Gate were either the rich nobles or mages. Hence, the places close to the Wind Gate were all influential and important establishments in general.

On reaching his destination, the first thing that Nick noticed was that the Blue Tear Land Official Building was rather big. It did not compare to the big city buildings on Earth but it was still larger than most that Nick had seen in this world.

It was made completely from rock and was at least 50-60 meters tall in structure. It seemed that there were more than eight floors in this building.

Nick did not specifically stop to inspect it further but instead entered using a simple blue-colored door.

At a reception kind of hall on entering, a handsome young man, who had a magical aura, spotted Nick almost immediately. He smiled and started talking.

“My Lord, how may I help you?”

Nick smiled and thought to himself.

“Compared to the Blue Lights Tavern, these people appear more understanding of worldly matters.”

Nick believed that this young man was accustomed to encountering people wearing different kinds of clothes and mages of different temperaments all the time. Because of these experiences, he did not show the slightest trace of arrogance or even a change in his expression.

It was good to see that there were some young but experienced people around.

Nick answered.

“I am here to buy land; this is my first time in Blue Tear City.”

The young man’s smile deepened as his eyes grew brighter. He guided Nick inside.

The first floor was simple and elegant. There were blue carpets, statues and other decorations, that were tastefully placed. There were five different reception counters inside but Nick and the young man did not stop at any of these and passed through them to go further inside.

A minute later, they arrived at a blue door and the young man gestured with his hand.

“Please enter, My Lord.”

Nick entered first, and the young man followed. As Nick opened the door and entered, he noticed he was brought to a private office. There was a woman in this room, wearing simple blue clothes, much like a government official; which Nick realized was exactly who she was.

The woman was middle-aged but did not look old. She was beautiful and alluring, and at the same time, carried an aura of authority and power. She looked at Nick’s face for a few seconds and then turned to the young man as she started speaking.

“Lester, who is this young man?”

Lester coughed gently and started talking.

“Lady Eliora, this lord is here to buy land.”

The woman named Eliora took a deep breath and understood what Lester meant by that cough. The ones who came to the building directly to purchase land were usually not simple people.

The other person may even think she was being disrespectful by calling him a ‘young man’. She looked at Nick again and started speaking.

“I am Eliora, I am responsible for the first floor and land dealings between 10-50 acres. Nice to meet you. I apologize for my words earlier.”

Nick did not mind it and started walking towards the table. He sat on a chair on the right and then introduced himself. Nick knew that Eliora was a mage. She was only at Prive (Student Level 1) level but a mage, nonetheless.

“I am Epsilon, I did not mind you calling me a young man.”

As Nick uttered his name ‘Epsilon’, Eliora gulped and beads of sweat formed on her face. She can sense that the man in front of her was at the very least a Provec Level mage and cannot be offended. If her superiors knew that she called a Provec Level (Student Level 3) mage a ‘young man’, they would not only fire her but there was also a chance she would be sentenced to prison for about 10 years.

Every empire and organization did not mess with mages, especially mages at the upper levels such as Prive Peak and Provec. These two mages levels, most of the time, had some kind of backing. Even without a backing, they were powerful enough to wipe out most armies alone.

The Blue Tear City did not want to be enemies or have upper-level mages wreaking havoc in their lands because they were offended by a worker in their building. This was why being disrespectful against the mages at the upper levels was no joke.

When the handsome young man, Lester, saw Lady Eliora’s expression, he instantly understood they were dealing with some kind of bigshot. He left the room to order refreshments. They needed to show they were hospitable; it may change everything.

At this time, Eliora asked.

“May I know, what kind of land and what size is the Esteemed Lord looking for?”

Nick thought a little and answered.

“I am looking to purchase land in the Anderium Forest, close to the Underbroom Cave. May I know what does a single acre costs in that vicinity?”

Eliora understood his query, took out some documents from her drawer and inspected them for about 15 seconds before replying.

“The Anderium Forest completely belongs to the Blue Tear Empire, but the Underbroom Cave belongs to the Werfur race stationed in the Anderium Forest. One acre in the Anderium Forest is priced at 10,000 Ether Stones. May I point out something here though?”

Nick nodded in answer to her question.

“The Werfur race are the current owners of the Underbroom Cave. Recently, they had some kind of problem with Blue Tear City. They may not have a good relationship with you, My Lord as you are a human.”

Nick laughed a little and answered.

“Do not mind the Werfur race. I have had some dealings with them. They know me.”
