“Hm… I see so that’s what he said? I suppose it’s best to pretend we never heard that… You two can you two read and write fine?” <Aggy>
Currently the two girls and two women were both back in the waiting room while Eel & Emily filled in forms. These forms obviously for the pair to join the guild properly – although usually it isn’t done in a backroom. However, such a thing is common if the new adventurer was picked up by an agency with enough power behind them.
“Yea, we’re actually prett- Wait! Why shouldn’t we say anything, isn’t that dangerous to do?” <Eel>
As much as she hated this city it was also true that they knew a threat was coming from the south east, wouldn’t that mean they would be involved as well?
“I think it’s unlikely anything like that…” <Aggy>
“Wouldn’t believe even if told them – no evidence. Word of little girl over lord of city? Who do will they think wiser? Lord retreated from south east so must be right choice. Think {Mino} dumb animals with no allies seems.” <Lyada>
Emily would obviously with cringe at the last statement, looking back down to her filled in paper to pretend to be filling it back in only for Lyada to reach over and pat her on her head while taking the sheet from her. Handing it over to a waiting Aggy to check.
“Yes… It would seem they have more than a few allies, however. I think the worst case would be if the {Stratos-Indigo Empire} would mean the worst case – otherwise I think Lord Shanta being a earth {Dragon} may be able to somehow at least keep this city safe… But, there are no matching their {God-Hunter} corps as proud as this country is of their military.” <Aggy>
<Yea… Maybe it wouldn’t be a good idea to warn my shitty father if it means picking a fight with them.>
“Amusing to see face though when lose to a Empress leading real empire.” <Lyada>
“Though I agree {Orrid Empire} is an empire in name alone – I think you mean when they lose to ‘The Queen’.” <Aggy>
Lifting her hand to her mouth as she chuckled at her own comment as Eel and Emily would just look at each other in confusion. Eel handing over her form to Aggy which she would proceed to through.
“{Titles} are weird – owns biggest empire yet world calls ‘The Queen’… Must have harem the size of Orrid Royal Palace though.” <Lyada>
To that Aggy would simply shake her head.
“No, I heard she’s actually a huge prude and only has Photon in her heart.” <Aggy>
“Must be more sexual frustrated than you then…” <Lyada>
That one would get Lyada a slap which she would just nod toward. She was well aware she deserved that one.
<All these names and places I have no idea on… *Sigh* So this is what they mean by ‘let the grown ups talk’.>
Eel would kind of be bored – she was more excited to be, becoming an adventurer but there was nothing to do… As she was thinking that however she would feel something fall onto her right shoulder – looking she would find the sleepy head of a certain little cow.
<On second thought take all the time you need~>
Her boredom was cleansed as she would gently play with Emily’s hair and horns – not ears. She was sensitive there and Eel didn’t want to wake her up. This was enough to cure her.
“Think goblin country will join?” <Lyada>
<Huh? I wonder what a country of goblins would be like – I heard they’re all rapey and stuff.>
“You mean {Goberz Kingdom}? Feels a lie to call them ‘goblin country’ when their upper class consists of women… Wouldn’t it be a better question for Fuka though?” <Aggy>
“Fuka only has goblin fathe- ” <Lyada>
“Eh, wouldn’t that mean Fuka is a goblin?!” <Eel>
Eel would ask the obvious question to this knowledge, however, that would simply get Aggy to shake her head.
“No, technically she has goblin blood in her but goblins as a species are male only. They completely rely on other races to continue their species… Well being monsters they can be created from raw mana but that’s technicalities. Anyway, we should probably cut this conversation anyway. I only asked because I know she has some brothers who live there… Must have just been the same ‘batch’.” <Aggy>
“Mother must been soft hearted to not have killed…” <Lyada>
“I think it’s best we don’t discuss these things behind others backs – especially if it’s about someone’s significant other. Now, Elizabeth and… Can you wake up Emily?” <Aggy>
Aggy’s tensed shoulders would drop softly as she beheld the softly breathing Emily resting all her weight on Eel.
A soft smile appeared but then a curious face as she turned to Lyada and raised her right hand up. Sticking only her index and middle finger up (keeping them touching) as she tilted her head as if asking something to which Lyada would shrug and hold up her own right hand and would raise those two as well as her ring finger but would keep them separated.
“Seeing them we’re betting how they end up but Leaf aiming for this – that’s there I and Fuka put our money.” <Lyada>
“From what I’ve seen she is… A willful child so I think that will probably end up the case. Even more so when her heart is set like that.” <Aggy>
Aggy lowered her hand again (as did Lyada), closing her eyes and simply nodding to Lyada’s judgement.
Eel would just watch slightly confused as she hadn’t learned what those hand signs meant but would simply shake Emily softly. Sad that she was lifting her head from her shoulder but also more than healed by the cute ‘mumumu’ noise she made while rubbing her eyes and awaking.
“Now, I can’t do the same for Emily as I’ve heard you haven’t been trained yet but I can rank you, Elizabeth, up to {E-Rank} as you have proven yourself in combat back there in that ally.” <Aggy>
“Nah~ I think it would be best to experience going up the ranks like everyone else.” <Eel>
<And, I’ll be able to do my first job with Emily~!>
Aggy would just make a wry smile while looking at Eel’s ‘determination’ but would just shake her head.
“Well other than that…” <Aggy>
Reaching under the counter Aggy would grab two things – two magic tools but one would be a light blue sphere resting in a tripod. The other would be on a block with an indignation on the top – closer to Eel and Emily facing Aggy would be a little hole and some buttons.
Emily would seem very interested as she leaned closer with glitter in her droopy eyes – intensely studying the two objects.
“This sphere here will allow you to select a new {Class} and this plate will let me print out a guild card or update it. You just need to place your hand either on top of the orb or in the indentation and it’ll do the job.” <Aggy>
“I-is there any {Class}’ that we shouldn’t choose?” <Emily>
“Eh~ from what I know, no. There are some like {Necromancer} series that would be frowned upon but I don’t think there would be any you two would need to worry about. Though I also don’t think anybody knows every single {Class} except for maybe some {God}.” <Aggy>
Shaking her head gently to Emily’s question with a soft smile before Eel would ask one of her own – Emily resting her hand on the {Class Orb} as the pair would look through the choices.
“So she should just pick up all of them?” <Eel>
“Probably – some require very specific situations though so make sure to always check once and awhile.” <Aggy>
“Okay~” <Eel>
“Hey Eel, this one gives me {Regeneration} and seems rare!” <Emily>
“Ah~ the requirements seem a bit… Well whatever! If you’ve got them it’s not going to change~” <Eel>
“Mh- oh? It also made my tummy feel weird… Oh it gave me {Bottom Feeder Lvl 10}?” <Emily>
{Bottom Feeder} was a weird thing as it allowed one to efficiently make use of anything you consumed and past level 7 you no longer required defecation so although a weird one it’s very useful for adventuring. It was also not particularly rare to obtain in slums.
Nodding on the pair would go through the process. The two adults would just decide to peacefully watch and sip their tea as the two discussed things, soon it was Eel’s turn.
“You have one more than me and since you should get {Regeneration Lvl 8} with this? Oh, {Hand User} should also increase!” <Emily>
“Ah~ Yea, but it’s probably sim- OH! It seems to give me {String User} which I was told was really really rare and strong! Apparently Leaf uses it!” <Eel>
“Ah, that’s so cool!” <Emily>
Hugging Eel’s side which would gain shock at the rare {Skill} but also warm gaze as the pair performed some cute skit.
“Right, well if you two are done I’ll print you out some ID’s. Each tier comes with a different colour starting from F; wood, E; stone, D; copper, C; bronze, B; silver, A; gold and S; platinum. You will both get the wood plate. I’ve even picked up a job for you two.” <Aggy>
Placing a wooden board (like the ones off the large mission boards) upon the table with a ‘clack’. The pair would quickly go about placing their hands on the plate – Emily first of course.
<Usually I’d go first as she’s a bit of a scardy but she’s so excited over seeing a magic tool~ Ah~>
A warm grin as she looked at Emily who was still happily gazing at the object she rested her hand upon. Soon enough it was Eel’s turn and then their first job began!
***
“This is boring…” <Eel>
Squatting down in a yard of a fairly large house – likely a somewhat well off merchant – Eel would just be cutting the grass with a knife she’d been given for harvesting.
That is basically Rank F in a nutshell – the odd-job people.
Emily would just be sat behind her reading a book about magic. They decided this because that way Eel would level up her {Harvesting} and they would also both learn a tad more about magic before the time came to learn it.
<And I don’t want Emily to accidentally cut herself…>
“Wow~! Magic is the pro-duct caused from the us-sage of {Mana} – mana being the boson ‘fun-de-metal’? No, ‘fun-de-mental’ force that represents the ‘chance’ of something happening… I think it means that {Mana} actually causes magic by making something more likely to happen.” <Emily>
“Ah, that’s a bit confusing but is it like those percentages we learned with Lisa? Y’know, like rolling a die and selecting a card out of a deck?” <Eel>
“I at least think so… What does ‘fun-de-mental’ mean though and what’s a boson?” <Emily>
“Ah~ I can’t help with the second but I think you mean ‘fundamental’ as it means something like ‘the first’ or ‘base’. You know, like how porridge is made from water and powder mixed together? I think it would be the smallest parts used to make it… Though I don’t know what’s in the powder.” <Eel>
“If you don’t know what it’s made of is it really good for you to eat it..?” <Emily>
“As long as I get a pair of breasts so big I can make Aunt Kat cry~!” <Eel>
Eel showing herself to have questionable morals once more as Emily would just look a bit sad at Eel’s fixation on having huge breasts. Closing the book in front of her she’d then look over the yard before speaking once more.
“If we had big-sis Leaf this would be done in no time flat…” <Emily>
“Eh, but doesn’t she make things grow, not shrink?” <Eel>
“Really? I’ve seen her cutting off branches and leafs before… Maybe it helps them grow back stronger like when the big-sisters had the ends of our hair cut?” <Emily>
Stopping for a second to think all Eel could do was nod along. Made perfect sense to her.
<Does that mean if I cut off my arm it would grow back stronger? No – wait when I exercise my muscles feel all hot, maybe that’s something similar? Well, it is less scary than cutting my arm off so I think I’ll keep to it~>
And so, they worked hard at their first day at becoming an adventurer…
Eel also decided she would wait to continue her adventure (specifically till Emily could achieved E rank).
