Chapter 60: Mother goes for a peaceful walk

The place was full of goblins.

They were practically everywhere but despite their usually rowdy behavior they were completely silent.

Instead they just all stood still watching a beautiful, voluptuous, mature lady as she slowly walked down the cobbled path. They didn’t act lustifully though as one may expected but rather as creatures made from mana… Well they were well aware of the dangers this woman possessed.

The unmaintained stone path led to an old abandoned church with a shattered circular window over the double doors. Although small the church had a bell tower on the back but a powerful wind made the tower give out an eerie creak as the tower waved back and forth.

To this sight the lilac haired woman just smiled kindly before stopping as she looked upon the church. Her delicate hands slowly falling down to the second of three sheaths upon her left hip to gently grip the curved blade. Although she had three sheaths only the top two of them truly had weapons inside them; she planned to change that by the end of the day. However, before that she had to ensure everything went well for the little dragon.

“It wouldn’t do for this place to fall apart before that little one even left that me-forsaken hovel… I suppose I’ll clean it up a bit for you Alexis.” <Mother>

With that she drew the blade over so slightly – causing a glimmer from the silver blade while her left hand came to hold her triclone. Before the goblins could even let out a squawk over that mature and kind voice the sound of her hilt clicking against sheath entered. The goblins tilted their heads before a powerful vacuum appeared causing all the goblins to be sucked up towards the tower. The woman wasn’t affected by the gush of wind but just slowly walked up to the building while her white coat flared in the brutal winds as the top of the tower seemed to vanish into the void.

As she approached the door her right hand came off from her blade to pat her bountiful chest as if any of the dust had stained her appearance… Of course that wouldn’t happen. How could the image of god be dirtied in such a matter?

Nonetheless she calmly walked up to the door only for it to slam open at her mere presence – though the strong musk that came from the goblin den caused her to lift her hand up to hold her nose. She somehow managed to keep that same calm and kind expression throughout as she turned to face the only person remaining in. This led her to believe that the fox in front of her must have sent all the goblins away to prevent them from doing anything dumb; something she found amusing.

In front of her was a figure that wasn’t exactly as mature as herself but certainly filled the same niche; it was perfectly shown off by those rather ‘expressive’ religious clothes that left little to the imagination. A total of nine-fox tails came from the woman’s rear while her fox ears wiggled softly atop her head. The nine-tailed fox simply just remained kneeled with her hands held in front of her in prayer as a holy power came from her to enshroud the forest behind the church in order to seal what was hidden within… Though, that prayer wasn’t towards her but instead a stained glass window that depicted what could only be called a frozen komodo dragon with phallic tentacles for tails. Oh, the colour of the fox’s hair? It was something that was impossible to tell at a glance due to being covered in goblin spunk.

“You certainly seem to have enjoyed your time here?” <Mother>

“Hohoho~ I don’t think many enjoy kneeling in the same place for decades, Mother.” <Alexis>

“Hm~ that is a fair assessment senior. Oh, I must also thank you for being so loyal to that girl of mine. She is fortunate to have such loyal believers.” <Mother>

Those fox tails wagged slightly but the woman was old enough to get her feelings under control soon enough.

“Nonsense; who doesn’t wish for their dreams to be fulfilled? If we can’t believe in the ability to dream we will be unable to function as living beings.” <Mother>

Mother just silently kept that same kind smile on her face while nodding her head along with the other woman’s words. The fox people were known for being cunning and profound yet they were heavily damaged in the first and second wars. In an act to survive as well as go with the winning side they became one of the noble demon families in the {Demon Realm}.

The one in front of her could be said to be the last [Nine-Tailed Fox] who wasn’t a demon as well. In fact she was the older sister of another bloody fox who overcame their already impressive abilities to gain a tenth tail. Though he was more known for his proclivity to solve situations with a blade; mostly his solution to dealing with dragons to be more exact. Although she wasn’t as impressive as others of that generation she still obtained a lot with her age so having such a figure being recruited to serve Elizabeth greatly assured Mother.

“I come to you on another matter… I could deal with the little distortion here but I believe it would be useful. Instead I just thought I would drop by and tell you in a week or so you’ll likely be played to take an heir to the {Demon Realms} throne to your brother for training. I know it’s selfish but I also wish for you to take care of that girl and make sure she makes the choice of who to support on her own; just like my daughter wants for her.” <Mother>

The fox couldn’t help but tilt her head in curiosity but soon returned back to a neutral position.

“The last one of her descendants that came to this realm ended up eating the roots of your [World Trees] which certainly pushed your buttons negatively. I almost thought you would start a holy incursion just to teach Violet a lesson… Yet you didn’t. Instead you are now trying to take care of another little demon?” <Alexis>

“Demons aren’t evil, they’re sinful beings born from the sins of others. I believe there is a difference between the two that should be made clear. A demon will follow their promises and rules even if it means the destruction of their souls; it’s in their very nature to be more trustworthy than they’re given credit for. While they will resort to any method to fulfil their wishes they are still truthful in that regard.

They are creatures born through Violet’s methods so it’s only natural they take after her mentality. Although that pesky Jormungandr certainly frustrated me, I’m not so petty since he was just a lost child. Plus he does help prune the roots that pass through to realms they shouldn’t as an apology… Though I doubt his motive, his efforts are true.

Plus that little demon will become the next Child.” <Mother>

This commnet caused the fox to be truly surprised to the point her barrier almost collapsed as a roar which wasn’t quite a sound echoed out from the collapsing barrier. If one was to describe it, it would be ‘a silence which grates on one’s being’ and as one could imagine it wasn’t a beast that should be let out. However, who is Mother exactly?

With a mature chuckle she casually clicked her left fingers only for the barrier to be reinforced thus allowing the fox to regain control. Doing just that she couldn’ help but let out a deep breath she wasn’t aware she was holding in.

“You mean to tell me that child is a possible heir to all you and she own?” <Alexis>

Mother just chuckled.

“While true she is also the new hero… A hero unlike those that came before even if she herself doesn’t realise it. One that will defend eternally to become the hope to the hopeless, another who takes on the wills of those that fall so their memories are never forgotten only to be forgotten himself… Both aren’t like her.” <Mother>

“Then what is she?” <Alexis>

Another hearty chuckle came from Mother but this time she didn’t say anything. Instead she turned away and slowly began to walk as the sound of her wooden sandals hit the rotten floor boards below her. Before stepping back out she did turn around with a warm smile yet that smile seemed somewhat amused.

“The freedom of tomorrow.” <Mother>

With that space itself began to crack like glass around mother as, despite standing completely still, she seemed to be getting further and further away. The cracks in space only became worse and worse – causing the image of the world around Mother to distort while her (the source of the distortion) remained as clear as the reflection of the moon on the surface of a peaceful spring.

This all occurred in the span of a second while no later did the mirror called reality shatter. As if she was never there, everything remained yet she had vanished. The fox just frowned softly while letting out a sigh.

“I hate when she does that…” <Alexis>

Mother was just peacefully walking to the capital when in front of her she was welcomed to the sight of an entire battalion of men in front of her. Stopping where she stood she glanced as the men adorned in cheap leather if any armour while far behind them was men with confident smirks in full metal. She was no crafter but as the one who ruled over the mortal realms she could recognise that the armour had a low purity of mithril inside of it which meant these must have been some top nobles of this poor country.

Other than them she noticed some men wearing white robes adorned with plenty of gold; holding golden staves in their hands. Behind them were some women who wore… Well they wore about as much as that fox did yet was pretty sure it was far more sinful reasoning. She even felt the little sprouts of life deep within those women causing her to hold her left hand to her mouth in mock surprise.

This only caused the fat noble at the back who had more rolls of flesh than he had links in his chainmail.

“We, on behest of the Church of Light, demand the heathen who goes by ‘Mother’ surrenders herself for proper judgement. If not we may be forced to take… Drastic action against you woman. The last thing we all want is a mark on that beautiful flesh of yours!” <Noble>

“O~h is that so hohoho~?” <Mother>

Despite the clear threat/joke at her expense she laughed along with the very people who seemed to be mocking her. The warm smile as always was present on her face as she continued to hold her left hand in front of her mouth. She didn’t even reach for any of her blades making the nobles confident grow even more. Between him and that woman (although freakishly tall for a woman at 7 foot) was over one thousand troops.

“We know you don’t have your killing weapon and I doubt even you have the ability to take out all these men without-” <Noble>

Before he could finish a very familiar mature voice rang out from behind him causing him to stop still and shiver with a deep well founded fear.

“When were you under the assumption I had lost my weapon?” <Mother>

Suddenly in a similar manner as before the space cracked behind him and the priests only for her to appear… Her third sheath was mystically filled with another blade as her left hand softly patted the butt of the blade. This very casual movement caused all those present to freeze but one of the priests spoke up.

“Even if you killed us the army-” <Priest>

“What army?” <Mother>

The space cracked once again but this time in a far larger fashion as it covered the entirety of the battlefield behind them. They didn’t want to turn away from the woman as they’d feared what they would see. When the noble in charge finally did turn he wasn’t disappointed. In fact he passed out on the spot – pissing himself before his head hit the floor.

Green chains covered in ancient script came out from cracks in space only to wrap around the limbs and especially necks of the countless soldiers. Some were still trying to escape but those chains could abruptly turn a full 90 degrees while flying through the air at a speed far greater than the fat man could notice. Once the chain wrapped around any part of their body it was over as more chains coiled around them.

At this point the scene was a terrifying one of hundreds upon hundreds of men hanging midair with the most unlucky being hung from their necks with no movement from their limp bodies.

“It is so amusing when children try to fight back hohoho~.” <Mother>

With that she peacefully walked away from the group of men and under watch of the lifeless eyes of the women in skimpy outfits. She still needed to greet the king who had caused some trouble for her with that same calm smile on her face. The women’s lifeless eyes soon gained some life as the priests and noble around suddenly became mists of blood – when she even drew her sword they had no idea but as they were now free they didn’t care.

Mother obviously didn’t care as she just kept walking on the path while casually glancing towards the faintly purple shadow of a lone rock during mid-day.

“Are you happy Munzumira?” <Mother>

“… It would seem you’ve played me Alice.” <Munzumira>

“On the contrary, we were playing different games with the same goal, Munzumira. It’s just a fact we both lost to Violet this time and if not for that I’m sure you may have more things go your way.” <Mother>

The shadow shivered before it shrunk back before eventually dissipating completely while Mother turned to face towards the sky where a very familiar blue female armour zipped through the sky towards the same direction as her.

Her warm smile never faltered as she walked away.

- my thoughts:
Heyo~ Well for the poll this week I discovered 50%(+/-5) of readers just don’t like Promicarus…Oh well that means 50% of you do like her do like her and it’s not like it’s uncommon for a character ‘unreasonably antagonistic’ to the main character to be unpopular. 40% of those who like her would like to get involved in bdsm with her in the future! Other than that, I finally decided what fanfiction I’ll likely be writing… Overlord!
