1. THE PRINCESS IS TRULY VERITABLE

Luna du Lac had arrived at the castle with her parents completely uninterested though her parents surely were.

“But dad I am not ready yet. We are not even adults.”

The voice teenage boy was heard from inside. He was blonde haired, had emerald-like eyes though his attitude towards the person he was speaking did not bear the slightest taste of what he looked like.

“JUST DO WHAT I SAY!!!”  Another voice was heard but it was older than the first one, “it’s not like you are getting married or something right now. After two to three years, you will so do as I say.”

The other voice stood silent.

The two came outside.

“Oh David, long time no see!”

It was the king of Asteria.

“Ah! His majesty! How’s life going on?”

It was David du Lac, Luna’s father.

“Call me Augustus right now, we are friends remember?”

“Darn it! I forgot.”

It was true that the king and the duke were childhood friends. They had been friends since the time of chewing their thumbs—and apparently because the duke held high position as an aristocrat in the country.

“So are we clear now?”

“Of course! My daughter’s all excited about it. She says that she has a bigger future in here.”

“Who doesn’t?” Augustus, the king of Asteria took a glance at Luna. He rubbed his eyes and then looked at her again. “If I am not wrong, isn’t it the veritable princess?” Anita nodded since she knew that Luna wasn’t comfortable.

“Yes, your majesty.” She said.

“I feel so lucky.” he smiled and looked at David, “How may I thank you? I should be the one bowing before you, Sir David!”

“Oh, no, no. You can’t!” David lowly bowed, “It’s my honour that my daughter, Luna du Lac, is getting the opportunity to become a part of the royal family.”

Luna bit her lips while the blonde boy whispered, “Tsk”

Clearly, both of them were uninterested in each other.

“Something happened?” asked Augustus.

“No, no nothing.”

“So Luna can we ask you something?”

“What, your majesty?” Luna bowed, though in her mind she was thinking to get out of her as soon as possible.

“What do you like to do?”

“I like-” She paused and looked around. Everything around her went blank. Books. She’d love reading and writing. That’s all. But how could she tell. She did not even dare to mention it because her parents were present who considered books as a medium of the commoner entertainment.

Gaining some courage from Anita’s words, she replied slowly, “I like to investigate through the pages which have guilt of knowledge and is full of fantastic fantasies.” Yes, she did it. She did manage to maintain the word “books” in a complicated way.

“You like to investigate?”

The blonde person chuckled.

“Through pages which have guilt?” he chuckled in a crooked way forgetting the presence of others in and around the room.

Luna noticed it and somehow understood what he meant. She blushed with anger and fumes of furiousness came out from her ears. The former stopped chuckling and commented, “Now I know why they call you the veritable princess. It’s clear.”

Augustus and David were stunned.

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING ADRIAN?! DON’T YOU HAVE SOME RESPECT IN FRONT OF SOME GUESTS?!” the king burst out in anger.

The blonde boy’s name was Adrian Christopher Asteria. The Du Lac needed to be treated well, he

understood it in an instant. “State what you like MISTER!!” the queen, Carmine Asteria, came in.

“Well, well” the duchess said, “It’s important for us to all know.”

Luna bit her lips and brought her eyebrows together in confusion. It created a number of waves on her forehead.

“Ok then, I like to flip through the clefs of a number of strings which create a solemn sound.”

Everybody present there was confused.

“What are you saying? Say it normally.” The king said.

“Oh, in simple words, I like music.”

“And creating it is my passion.”

“And when I become an adult- “

“STOP WITH YOUR NONSENSE” the queen interrupted.

Adrian’s will to say it stopped.

“Alright, I won’t say anything anymore. But can we like talk inside?”

“What?!” It was Anita’s turn to explode. “I must accompany Miss Luna!” she fumed.

Luna nodded and the two went along with Anita went to the guest hall of the palace.

“I must say that you are truly veritable and perfect.”

“Huh? What do you mean?”

Anita was holding Luna’s hand stiffly to prevent any kind of jiffy from happening.

“I appreciate the way you describe the theme of books. Like who would believe them to be “guilt of knowledge and fantastic fantasies?””

Luna felt fumes of fire balls within her chest.

“WHAT IN THE WORLD DO YOU MEAN? I MEAN ONE CAN LIKE BOOKS RIGHT? I REALLY DON’T UNDERSTAND!!!!” she exploded but made sure that no one could hear her.

“Fine. I know. But the main problem is that lies in the fact that people in the aristocratic system don’t like to read or love the things they want to do. Like see me.” He turned his face away from her and continued in a hate fashion, “Look at my parents. All they care about is me. It is like they overfeed me or do things which I don’t like to do.”

Anita sensed it. “I see. Miss Luna has a passion for reading and writing and his majesty has a passion for music.”

“Huh? How did you know?”

“You did mention like the strings and solemn music. I thought it to be music so I interpreted it.”

“You got it correct.” Adrian rubbed his eyes to wipe off his tears.

“So, that makes sense why queen Carmine suddenly stopped you in the middle.”

“Yes.”

“Same for me too. My parents say me to enjoy the life as if I was in heaven.”

“Ma’am can we do it faster. Um… whatever we are doing?”

“One minute” Luna said. “If we have only one minute then let’s do something beyond their expectations. Let’s sign a contract.”

“A contract?”

“Yes. I don’t know but I’m sure that it will surely change our lives.”
