Chapter 60- Face to Face

When KMega6KMegacharacter wasn’t in the game, he had faith in Yirk and Astrid7Astridcharacter. Yirk shared his point of view of restoring Eastguard, while Astrid had his best interests in mind. To top it off, there was a form of give and take between the two of them in their respective roles for KMega. They understood each other rather well and worked together to meet the best outcome. When they learned that KMega will be spending some time IRL, they easily took over. For the first time since KMega bought his small home, he cared about how it looked. He cleaned up the littered garbage and did the dishes before his guest arrived the next day.

It’s rather unusual for someone in Weise’s department to take a day off, but it does happen. It’s spending weeks on end indoors that doesn’t do anyone any good, which is why Weise took a three day vacation to go see KMega face to face. The young man had potential and promise in his eyes. He had programmers and such for days, but it’s a different story for the people that test these things out. It’s a traditional practice to have testers that can keep their mouths shut about new products. This usually means that one individual is shared among several departments, but dedicated testers were a cut above the norm. There was severe infighting for the people that could push the department to its limits. These people are also known to the outside world as pro gamers.

Weise looked at the young man in the doorway and immediately smelled lemon-line; a sign that there was recent heavy cleaning. He remembered doing that once or twice in his youth. The two then shook hands before Weise was let into the house.

Unexpectedly, the front room was a bedroom.

“Do you mind if I look around at your living arrangements before we begin?” (Weise)

KMega looked puzzled at the unusual request.

“Sure, I guess. No harm, right?” (KMega)

Weise nodded silently as he began to look around the house.

It was rather small, but it was just big enough for a gamer.

“How often do you go out to exercise?” (Weise)

Dear Readers. Scrapers have recently been devasting our views. At this rate, the site (creativenovels .com) might...let's just hope it doesn't come to that. If you are reading on a scraper site. Please don't.

Weise asked loudly while in the kitchen. The stunned KMega didn’t even notice he went in there.

“Every morning I run to the store for food two blocks away. I go to the park once every two weeks and play some ball.” (KMega)

Weise nodded. It’s certainly more exercise than most gamers get.

“When was your last checkup KMega?” (Weise)

There was another pause.

“Please call me Kevin when we’re in person, it’s my real name. What’s with these questions anyways?” (KMega)

Weise then walked into the gaming part of the house and sat down in a chair.

“To be frank, there are several reasons why I’m here. For one, I’m a representative of the Green corporation. The legal issue you’re involved in is about to be settled.” (Weise)

Kevin looked at Weise in surprise.

“That was quick!” (KMega)

Weise nodded.

“Quite. Business was hit rather hard when all the dirty laundry came to light as it were. Since a bandaid couldn’t help, they amputated an arm and overdid the damage control a little.” (Weise)

Weise then sighed before continuing.

“Which brings me to the real reason I’m here. I’m doing a little head hunting. I’ve been watching your streams ever since you did me that solid with the bug incident. In truth, you’ve opened my eyes to several oversights that I’m currently fixing. I figured that you’re qualified enough to enter the Green corporation gamer support program.” (Weise)

Kevin’s jaw dropped. The GSP of the Green corporation was rumored to be where the best gamers go. Not just anyone can enter the GSP; they had access to the latest games, and they were also the ones that tested patches and updates.
