This is an author’s note, not a chapter, so it isn’t locked.
It’s ‘Chapter CCC’ as in Roman Numeral Three Hundred. The real Chapter 300 will post immediately after this item.
As I mentioned before, I’m planning another series set on Huade once I’m done with “Substitute Hero”. I have a clear idea of what the character and the circumstances are, but I don’t have a clear storyline yet. I do have the first chapter written. Actually, I have two of them. Things like that happen a lot when you are first starting a story.
I’m also currently planning a non-Huade story. I’m even fairly confident (say, sixty percent confident) of the title. That’s not confident enough to announce it, but in this case also, I have a few chapters and a solid world-building document that I can build from.
In both cases, my focus is on appealing the readers of this series, while presenting a new main character and new situations. I will finish Tiana’s story regardless of what happens with these other items.
I plan to launch whatever I write next at the same time that I begin the final volume of Substitute Hero. At one time, I thought Volume Seven would be the final volume, but that’s when I thought that the point we are at now was going to be somewhere in Volume Four. So clearly, we have a little way more to go. Especially considering that Volume Six ended up insanely long, at fifty four chapters.
It has been really rough this past year, for all the same reasons it has been rough on everyone else. I have an impaired immune system due to anti-rejection medications that protect my transplanted liver, so I have been especially home-bound. It’s hard to write while looking at the same four walls 24-7, so I am looking forward to getting my vaccine and venturing back out.
I skipped the appendices for Volume Six due to my computer problems. Those problems are now resolved, but I am still trying to rebuild my stock of future chapters. So, I think I will delay those appendices until the end of Volume Seven instead.
I had thought about posting them here, at the chapter 300 mark, but right now, I am writing only one week ahead of the posted chapter, which is way too tight for comfort. It means I’m not doing my editing after being away from the chapter for awhile, to make changes with a fresh look. I’ve always depended upon that fresh look, so I am writing as fast as I can to recover my one month stock.
I have a day job, though, so I can’t write all day, and I can’t spare time to finish those appendices. I suspect most of my readers would prefer getting quality chapters over free extras, so they have to wait.
Chapter 300 posts immediately following this, so, thanks for reading, and now, read onward!
