The Rain Chamber was the complete opposite of the laboratory. Where one was a dark, muddy cave the other one was a medium sized golden hall with draconic engravings covering almost every inch of its surface.
The chamber looked more like a treasure vault than a place to gain insight.
Zilan smiled, he moved towards the front of the hall where a slightly large mat could be seen.
“Let’s see what you can do.” He sat down ready for what was to come however, before he could close his eyes he noticed that the moment he took a seat on the mat, a golden altar suddenly appeared at the absolute front of the hall. A transparent drop of liquid quietly hovered above the altar seemingly being tempered by something.
Zilan looked on for some time before shifting his attention away. Closing his eyes, he shut off any unnecessary thoughts. The only thing on his mind at that moment was [Rain Drizzle].
The draconic engravings simultaneously glowed. They began trembling before releasing blinding lights which combined together to form what looked like a striking ball of light that floated above Zilan’s head.
Streams of golden energy started being transmitted from the ball of light into his body.
‘This warm sensation…’
As Zilan was solely focused on [Rain Drizzle], the images he had in his mind surprisingly began changing. All of the Rain Dragon King’s movements drastically slowed down, information on every step/shift of his body was quickly sent into his brain however, the most shocking development was that each and every law and concept as well as even the Rain Dragon King’s thought process was communicated to Zilan.
‘Amazing.’ He thought to himself. ‘Too bad it doesn’t help me much.’
To anyone else the ability to slow down something and thoroughly analyse every single aspect of it including information that should normally be unattainable was something heaven defying. To Zilan though, it was daily life.
He was born with eyes that could see everything and although the ability brought his people countless misfortunes, it had its own perverse advantages that made it unique in the Universe. How the Rain Dragon King was able to mimic this ability was a simple puzzle to solve.
In truth, this chamber’s ability could not be described as a copy of Zilan’s as the concepts behind the two were just not on the same level. What the Rain Dragon King did with the chamber was basically build a place where only those he accepted could view all of his secrets.
It was the equivalent of mortals exposing their naked bodies to only a select few people they trusted or someone recording a diary where all of their experiences, flaws, secrets etc were filmed and then give that recording to someone they trusted to look through and learn from.
In a basic sense, the Rain Chamber was similar to the diary. After all, all of the secrets being shown to Zilan were the Rain Dragon King’s own. The chamber would one hundred percent be unable to replicate the results should it be tasked with analysing someone else. Granted, should this someone else also record a ‘diary’ i.e place countless engravings with all of his experiences around the chamber then, yes, Zilan would be able to view/analyse them in the same way as the current Rain Dragon King.
The ability of the chamber was far, far inferior compared to Zilan’s eyes thus he didn’t particularly need it.
Opening his eyes, Zilan sighed before standing up. There was nothing left to see here, he’d rather not waste his already limited time on something that he could do by his lonesome in the physical world.
He took one last look at the chamber before moving to leave.
“Wait…”
Swinging his head back, Zilan’s eyes landed on the small altar at the front of the room. The drop of liquid that was hovering above it no longer appeared transparent instead brandishing a brand new golden colouring. Faint engravings stood out on its liquid surface.
“It wasn’t like that when I came in.”
He carefully moved towards the altar, a curious look on his face.
“What could this be?”
The golden drop gave off no energy waves, puzzling Zilan. If it was something powerful then it should at least make him feel something, right?
“Hmm..” Unable to understand the drop, he shrugged before directly grabbing hold of it.
A mysterious force surged into his mind almost immediately upon contact. It did not linger long abruptly disappearing almost as soon as it had arrived.
A volcano of understanding/enlightenment suddenly erupted from within Zilan’s mind. All of the doubts he had, specifically on matters concerning [Rain Drizzle] were swiftly being swept away. It was like an invisible hand was filling in all of the gaps in his understanding of the Secret level technique. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. The thrilling sensation of having vast amounts of useful information enter his memory was no longer around however, Zilan was not disappointed. What he’d gained allowed him to do away with all of the useless hypotheses he had. He could now focus his energy on a path that was more likely to lead him to understanding the crux of the [Rain Drizzle] technique.
The other reason he was not disappointed despite having many more doubts was because at this moment above the altar, a transparent drop of liquid was slowly but surely taking shape.
“Hehehe, I wonder how long it’ll take to form.”
Needless to say, Zilan was ecstatic. The drops ability to enlighten was something that left him more than satisfied with this Rain Chamber. All of his disappointment from before was completely washed away by that single golden drop.
“If it worked for techniques other than [Rain Drizzle]…” He stopped himself from thinking further as it was impossible.
……
After discovering the golden drop, Zilan camped out awaiting the next drop to be formed however, before he could witness its formation he was kicked out from the Cloud Inheritance Palace.
“Phew~ I’ll try again tomorrow.” He whispered.
“Try what again?” asked Hihi.
“None of your business.”
“Peh…You think you’re the only one who’s training?” spat Hihi.
“Hmm…you train frequently?”
“……” Hihi was speechless.
“You think this genius does nothing everyday except wait upon your commands?”
“Yes.”
“…..Idiot. The only thing Hihi has done since coming to this backwater plane has been train. Hihi would have gone crazy otherwi…”
“Interesting story….tell me another time.” Interrupted Zilan who had clearly heard very little of what Hihi was saying.
It couldn’t be helped, he was still caught up in the otherworldly feeling of having his doubts as well as questions completely answered in one go. It was just too damn addictive.
He couldn’t wait till tomorrow. In fact, he was so excited that even clearing his mind to practice Ki became a challenge.
Zilan thus gave up on training for the day, opting to do nothing. A relatively uncommon and unproductive twenty-four hours for him.
