Bk 2 Chapter 167 – Training (vi)

Zilan spent the next three days studying [Rain Drizzle]. He was extremely interested in learning more about the technique and its inner workings however, that was not the only reason he was currently fixated on it.

“Why isn’t it forming?” An upset Zilan shouted.

This was the umpteenth time he had entered the Rain Chamber expecting the golden drop to have successfully formed but each time he was forced to leave disappointed.

“It’s been three days. Why is it taking longer this time than it did when it first formed?”

It was at these times that he missed having shadow coach by his side informing him about every single detail he desired to know about. Having to figure out how these strange structures that were built by the Rain Dragon King worked was becoming too stressful.

It was at this time that all of a sudden, the drop of liquid hovering above the altar finally turned completely gold. Zilan immediately spotted it. He rushed over and without hesitating grabbed hold of it.

Just like last time, the mysterious force filled in some of the gaps in his thinking. The feeling was absolutely pleasurable.

After a few minutes of sorting out the information in his head, Zilan wryly smiled.

“Every three days….” This wasn’t a necessarily long time to wait, but for him it was also not necessarily a short amount of time. Not to mention the fact that the golden drop’s ability to clear doubts was not as powerful as the first time.

Whether or not this could be attributed to it losing more of its effect with every use or if the current doubts Zilan had were just closer to the truth/ possessed a semblance of the true [Rain Drizzle’s] workings thus they couldn’t be cleared, were things he could not confirm.

His eyes fell on the altar that already had a transparent drop of liquid taking shape above it. It was a sight that did not have as much of an allure as it did the first time around. This naturally, did not imply that he would no longer use the golden drop. It just meant that that he would only enter this Rain chamber once every three days.

‘I’ve wasted some time.’ Thought Zilan.

He walked out of the chamber and made his way towards shadow coach’s location outside of the tunnel.

“I’d like to train Rain Storm.” He said. As much as he liked learning, understanding [Rain Drizzle] was proving to be quite time consuming. Plus, he had neglected [Rain Storm] for far too long.

Not because he wanted to of course, but rather because that bloody place had angered him. He’d spent some time on it though and he was somewhat confident that he’d maybe found a solution to that infuriating spike in energy. But first some tests needed to be done.

Within seconds Zilan had returned to the world specifically designed to train [Rain Storm]. He was not that happy though as if his theory failed, there was no Plan B.

“No time to waste.”

The Blood Force in his body suddenly drained, leaving a measly five percent of it in his body. The number ‘10’ appeared high in the sky and a constant, nagging pressure was continuously attacking him trying its best to make his energy chaotic.

Zilan immediately activated [Rain Storm]. A faint mist abruptly exploded from both sides of his waist before slowly taking shape into two gigantic dragon claws that reached out to the sky, seemingly wanting to grab hold of it. Using all of his blood force, he conjured six Storm claws.

A succession of “Click!” sounds resounded throughout the space following their creation. The number ‘10’ changed, becoming ‘4’.

The surrounding pressure suddenly grew agitated causing Zilan to wryly smile.

“As expected.” Noticing that he didn’t have enough energy to defend himself, the spike in pressure had come.

“Pop.” Each and every one of his Storm claws were crushed within a second. A development that greatly annoyed Zilan. Luckily this was just a test and not a serious attempt.

What was he testing? Well, he wanted to find out what results the spike in pressure brought upon him considering the short amount of time he was exposed to it as compared to the time he had endured for a few minutes.

He thus shut his eyes and focused on the changes in his body.

“It’s not much but it’s something. Compared to the effects of that time though….” He couldn’t help but feel wronged. After experiencing the amazing benefits of enduring the spike for a moderate amount of time, the little gains he got from being crushed by the spike could not satisfy him.

Maybe had he not experienced the wonders of that time he would have perhaps been happier with these small gains however, that was not the case. Because of his Blood force as well as his strong body he was able to endure longer, this space was however designed for Beasts thus such an outcome was never meant to be possible. In a sense Zilan was cheating and the system was slowly trying to adapt.

5% of Universe energy was poured into him bringing him back to what the space deemed optimal.

Looking up at the big ‘10’ Zilan steeled himself. “Let’s give it a try.”

Two gigantic dragon claws appeared on both sides of his waist. Zilan took in a deep breath before breathing out and frowning. His face was expressionless however his mind was working overtime trying to put his scheme into action.

A few minutes later, 6 tangible Storm claws appeared in the space above him. These claws were a bit strange in the sense that their shape was slightly off. If one was asked to describe what was off about them they’d most likely be unable to. It was just a feeling one would have when looking at the claws that something wasn’t right about them.

The surrounding space seemed to think the same way hence the fact that in the sky, a big ‘10’ still remained.

This fortunately did not seem to stop the spike in the pressure from coming forward. Feeling Zilan’s lack of energy to resist it immediately pounced towards his creations. Unlike previous times, Zilan was actually relieved that the spike had appeared, that was his biggest worry but now that it had come everything was made easier.

No sooner had the spike engulfed the six Storm claws did four of them suddenly disappear leaving two still standing.

Two “Click!” sounds in a row echoed across the space.

The number ‘8’ appeared in the sky.

It was too late for the spike in pressure to withdraw thus it directly engaged the two Storm claws, using all of its power to destroy them.

Zilan on the other hand was fiercely enduring with everything he had. Their entanglement eventually lasted three minutes, an amount of time that surpassed that of even the first time.

The spike disappeared as did Zilan’s claws however, amidst his exhaustion an unconcealed happiness could be seen as well as felt coming from him.

“It worked. It actually worked! Hahahaha…..”

Although he was somewhat confident, he did not think it would work as well as it did. The results spoke for themselves or rather the pain spoke for itself.

Covered in sweat and worn out, the mentally fatigued Zilan fell to the ground, closing his eyes to rest. “Training [Rain Storm] really is different from training in [Rain Drizzle].”
