Chapter 69 – Associations

“The Rising Purple Sun family?” questioned Zilan.

Noticing that he didn’t recognise the name, Fujo started from the beginning.

“Brother Zilan, you may not know about this but in the Gold sector, there are very few family clans. In fact, it can be said that only the greatest factions are family clans while most of the others are either sects or a type of union.
The Rising Purple Sun family is the name of my family clan and we are especially known for the fact that we possess the oldest Ancestral Heritage out of all the other factions.”
Fujo paused as he observed Zilan’s reaction however, the shock and awe he was expecting was nowhere to be seen. He was very proud of his family’s Heritage and standing thus seeing the calm expression on Zilan’s face left a slightly sour taste in his mouth.
He didn’t say anything about it though as this was just a small matter, nothing to get annoyed over.

In truth, the only reason he felt the sour taste was because he viewed Zilan as a Half-Breed who hailed from humble origins. If he knew the ‘truth’ or at least the lie that Zilan was actually the son of a Dragon then he would naturally not mind.

“What most people do not know is the fact that a majority of our Ancient Heritage does not come from this world.
In the distant past, long before our family was founded, a Great Expert came to this world. We don’t much about him except that he came here in search of something and then left. However, before his departure he left many precious items.
Among the things he left behind, a Mystic technique known as the [Purple Heart Sutra] was without question the greatest treasure.”

“Purple Heart Sutra?”

“Indeed. It’s a very powerful technique and the description left behind by the Great Expert proclaimed that upon comprehending it, prosperity and fortune awaited.”

“This Purple Heart Sutra sounds amazing.” whispered Kifo.

Unlike Zilan, he could not remain calm after hearing what Fujo was saying.

“It is indeed amazing. The abilities of the Purple Heart Sutra aren’t a big secret so there’s no need to hide it from you.
When cultivated, the Purple Heart Sutra gives one a Divine sense. Anything that will bring you harm and anything that will give great fortune will be conveyed through this Divine sense that the Great Expert called, [Purple Window].”

“Uncle Amani cultivates the Purple Heart Sutra and in truth he is only the second one in our entire family’s history to grasp the ‘Truths’ within the technique. He is a peerless genius thus he was bestowed the title, ‘Master of Hearts’.
Be it the hearts of people or the hearts of spirit plants, Uncle Amani can sense the good from the bad. In the way of Alchemy, this technique allows him to refine herbs in the most efficient way while still preserving the heart of the spirit plant which is its essence.”

Dear Readers. Scrapers have recently been devasting our views. At this rate, the site (creativenovels .com) might...let's just hope it doesn't come to that. If you are reading on a scraper site. Please don't.

Up to this point Zilan was somewhat lost in thought however, after listening for a long time he finally understood the Purple Heart Sutra.
It was no Divine technique but it was still pretty good.

“To encounter the laws of fortune here is a surprise.” chuckled Zilan, inwardly.

This Purple Heart Sutra in his mind most likely contained some of the laws of ‘Fortune’, just like how water and fire had their elemental laws, some basic principles of the Universe also had their own laws.
Divine or Heavenly luck was one of them and fortune was an aspect of this major law.

He already had an idea as to how the Purple Heart Sutra worked.

“Taking in all the information about a person using the sensory organs as well as Beast force and then coming up with a conclusion based on whether a person or something would be good or bad for you. In essence, it analyses something down to its very aura and then relying on the laws of fortune it makes a decision as to whether or not to get close.”

It truly is a convenient ability however, its effects could be easily replicated by Zilan who possessed the Gift of Love. Just by analysing someone with his eyes or through physical contact, he could get a look into a person or thing and then he would make a decision on whether or not to proceed or stay away.

The only difference was that the Gift of Love wasn’t as limited as the Purple Heart Sutra as it went much more in-depth and it could still be used on someone stronger although its abilities were lessened. The Sutra on the other hand, in Zilan’s estimations would be utterly useless against someone stronger and this Purple window was just a sense and not a conclusive breakdown or report. Basically it was impossible to get a quantifiable result using the Purple Heart Sutra as it only gave one a ‘feeling’.

The laws of Fortune were essentially nothing in the face of strength. Only the major Law of Divine luck which one did not seek and could only pray for stood a chance.

As for why this Great Expert who cultivated the laws of fortune came to such a small realm, Zilan had a pretty good guess. He must have sensed that fortune or at least something good awaited him here and something that could attract someone of his level here could only be the scorched race.
Unfortunately, since he departed it looks like what he sought was not found.

“Fate is truly strange and brutally cruel. The one you looked for is now being treated as an ally and a brother, because of the ‘unparalleled’ Mystic technique you left in this world.” mused Zilan.

It wasn’t unusual for there to have been existences appear in this small realm before Mungu. After all, Sera the Spring Dragon had travelled here long before Mungu took control.
As for why Mungu was successful in finding the scorched race, fate, luck and maybe even his own strength could have been the reason. Either way, it no longer mattered.

……………..

“So that’s why? The Purple Heart Sutra…….fascinating.” said Zilan, pretending to actually be interested.

“Indeed. With Uncle’s ability, even the Elders of the clan are powerless to stop any of his decisions. As for me, I’ve always been a straight forward person by nature, therefore as long as Uncle says Brother Zilan is trustworthy, that is enough for me.

Finding allies in a place where many come to seek glory and recognition no matter the cost, is very difficult. That’s why having you here is perfect for me.”

“Oh! So that banner hanging outside is your clans’ symbol?” asked Zilan. He already knew the answer but he just wanted to confirm.

“Yes. That banner represents the fact that the Purple Heart, two flame camp is run and supported by the Rising Purple Sun family.”

He expected as much however, Zilan still couldn’t help but shake his head.

“To allow powerful factions to set up camps within the Alchemy Association, is that not giving an unfair advantage to them.” asked Kifo as he found the whole thing extremely strange.

Fujo instantly broke into loud laughter before turning towards Kifo and saying,

“The world of practitioners is rarely fair as such a privilege is only enjoyed by the strong. However, this does not mean that powerful factions are free to form and grow their camps as they please.
If such a thing really happened then the Alchemy Association would not be so feared and respected.”

“Hmm, so there are rules?” wondered Kifo.

“Of course! These rules don’t just govern the formation and governing of camps but also gives insight into how the Alchemy Association is structured.”

“How so?”

“The Alchemy Association is actually broken down into many smaller Associations which are headed by the Elders.
The juniors under these Elders then form their own even smaller Associations which are known as camps.
The Purple Heart, Two flames camp is also the same as seen by the banner of Elder Wazimu’s Association hanging outside.”
“There are many requirements for setting up a camp aside from gaining the recognition of an Elder. For example one must be at least a three cauldron Alchemy master and must also have the backing of at least one Inferno ranked Fire guardian.

Also any and all man power used must come from Alchemy Association members. That’s why everyone working here is either a member of the Fire Guardians or is a studying Alchemist.”

“What are the Fire Guardians?” inquired Zilan.

“For the Alchemy Association to be able to protect all of the treasures they possess as well as ensure the safety of all its members can be said to be because of the Fire Guardians. They are the sword that guards the Association as well as the saber that slays all of its enemies.
In fact, Uncle once said that the rules that govern the formation of camps were placed so that the Fire Guardians would receive the most benefit.
Be it the resources gained from serving a three cauldron Alchemy master thus allowing their strength to increase or the conflicts that arise when they are guarding the camps, all of these are forms of benefit that favour the Fire Guardians development.”

“How many camps are there in the Alchemy Association?” asked Zilan as he thought about something.

“Who knows? There are hundreds of them. I wouldn’t be surprised if another one was being formed right now.
The more of them an Elder has under him, the greater his standing is within the Association.” Laughed Fujo.

“Would you like to know what rank the Purple Heart, Two flames camp is?”

Zilan noticed the proud smirk Fujo was displaying and he couldn’t help but nod in curiosity.

Fujo then spread out his palm and stretched out all five fingers before saying, “Top five!”

“Apart from Uncle Amani being a four cauldron Alchemist, there are two Fire Guardians behind him who have already exceeded the Inferno rank and two more who are currently in the Inferno rank.
Aside from that, there is also the matter of our family clan sending many promising practitioners and Alchemists into the Alchemy Association so as to bolster the camps power.
With all this, combined with the fact that Uncle Amani is a personal disciple of Elder Wazimu, the Purple Heart, Two flame camp is one of the five strongest in the entire Alchemy Association.”
