Chapter 38- fate/time

(AN: I was planning to add several more chapters before this one involving what happened before Peter was sent back to his home plane, but I got to the third one and realized I could not come up with proper plot or anything. I might leave those chapters as ‘bonus’ chapters after the story is done.)

It took over a year for Peter to awaken from his coma in the hospital after nearly dying when the fire started in his house. As his strength returned and he paid using his insurance for his house burning down, he continued his schooling. He then thought less and less about Dramix and the others before the great final battle. Peter continued with his normal life until he nearly lost the memory of his journey with Dramix until he was looking through the bargain pile of games for sale in a flea market and saw a copy of the Eye of Souls.

He immediately bought it and went to the apartment that he was renting before sticking it in his game system.

“Welcome new soul to a world of magic and fantasy. This is a world of strange strangers and wondrous wonders. In this journey, you will experience things you’ve never experienced before. You and your fellow new souls will lead this ancient world into a new dawn, or it’s final dusk. Be warned though, every action you perform has consequences in the world around you. How will you play?” (Intro)

Peter grew excited as he heard the intro again, but after that, there was nothing.

It was as if the game froze because it was scratched. He held too much hope in that it would work. Even if he could return to that world, there was no guarantee that he would go back in time to the great battle, or even be able to return to Dramix.

He then turned off the game and turned off the lights before going to bed, even though it wasn’t even six yet.

As Peter drifted into slumber, he found himself in his fog form in front of Dramix.

“I often looked for you. I always wonder why you left me before the great battle. I came to realize later on that you taught me all I needed to know, so you were no longer needed. So much time has passed, but I feel like I need you again. My daughter is close to becoming a shaman as I am, so I want you to watch over her.” (Dramix’s Spirit Talking)

Peter felt oddly happy to hear Dramix needing his help.

“Come now, old friend. Have I ever truly left you?” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)

Dramix looked forward in surprise.

“My friend, have you finally returned?” (Dramix’s Spirit Talking)

Peter then found himself actually face to face with Dramix, who was a lot bigger than he was.

“Is this your true form? You look weak!” (Dramix’s Spirit Talking)

Peter chuckled.

“Then should I say that you look stupid because you’re a Drakan?” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)

Dramix chuckled.

“I guess you are my old friend. Why have you returned now?” (Dramix’s Spirit Talking)

Peter scratched his chin.

“Because you truly needed my help once again. I’ve awakened yet again to help you as I have before. You did mention a daughter? I’ve missed a lot while recovering. Why don’t you start from the beginning?” (Dramix’s Spirit Talking)

Dramix opened his mouth slightly, then he suddenly raised his hand.

Can you be patient for a moment? There’s someone I want you to meet.” (Dramix’s Spirit Talking)

Suddenly, Dramix vanished in a puff of smoke and Peter returned to his fog form as he waited for him to return. He then came walking back with another Drakan that looked a lot like Naleeit, but since she was a lot younger then Dramix, he knew that it wasn’t her.

“This is Draama, my daughter. Daughter, this is my spirit.” (Dramix’s Spirit Talking)

Peter then remembered that he had no extremities like that, so he chuckled.

“You look exactly like Naleeit when Dramix first met her.” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)

She then growled in annoyance before speaking.

“Mother is always way too busy with the keep. I hardly ever see her.” (Draama’s Spirit Talking)

Dramix sighed.

“She hasn’t always been like this. She’s normally more cheerful, but the stress because of the shaman tests has been hard.” (Dramix’s Spirit Talking)

Peter chuckled.

“As you’ve told me several times before. So, what exactly do you need me to do here?” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)

Dramix deeply inhaled deeply.

Peter knew that he was nervous about what he was about to ask.

“Could you watch over her as you did for me?” (Dramix’s Spirit Talking)
