Peter noticed that the two new Drakan was quickly welcomed when they arrived at the tables that Dramix recommended they go to.
“You seem to be a bit full of yourself.” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)
Dramix leaned back and grabbed his spear with a pleased smile on his face.
“I’ve turned away new bodies way too many times. The people that ask to join my house are either bigots or lowlifes who come here trying to get a free meal or an easy score. My fortune is rather large, but not unending. I can’t help everyone. I know the truth about those three Drakan. I can tell that they were poor, humble, and strong. They came here hoping they won’t become one of those low lifes.” (Dramix’s Spirit Talking)
Dramix then looked to his side and grabbed some mutton from where food and drinks were set out for him.
He then took a bite before sighing.
“I have to decide on a time to meet with Roc.” (Dramix’s Spirit Talking)
Peter kept quiet when he said that because he didn’t know enough about his affairs to be of any help. Instead, he looked around the room. There was a healthy mix of males and females, and they were acting as if they were equals. With what he knew about Drakan society, he knew that this wasn’t exactly a regular thing. By the time Dramix had finished his meal, Peter took note of a few names.
“So, is this what you do all day every day?” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)
Dramix sighed in annoyance.
“Sadly, yes. I don’t get to go out much anymore. I only train with my warriors once a week to keep myself strong and sharp, but not much more than that.” (Dramix’s Spirit Talking)
As more time passed, Peter noticed that the two newcomers were back together and spoke like coming here was a wise choice. It was evident that the time had carried them into being late, as many of the other people who were in the hall had left, and some even fell asleep on the tables or leaning against the wall. Many fell asleep due to the booze. Peter even noticed that Dramix was in a light sleep himself. That changed though, as a scuffle in the kitchen occurred and Dramix saw Draama pushing Jokon by the neck as they passed him.
“You know about the rules about fighting in my house.” (Dramix)
Draama smirked.
“That’s why I’m taking this outside.” (Draama)
Dramix looked at the once-raging fire and closed his eyes again. While she walked by with Jokon, it caught the attention of the people that were still awakened. They wanted to go and watch the beating that Jokon will undoubtedly receive. They wanted others to watch spectacle though, so a few people ran off to awaken the others before Guinee blocked their path and spoke to Draama.
“Whatever my brother did to anger you, I ask you for your forgiveness. We don’t know your customs yet.” (Guinee)
Draama’s powerful arm didn’t buckle at all from Jokon’s attempts at freedom despite having a firmer stance to work with than when she was pushing him.
“Your courage and loyalty are commendable, but this is a lesson he must learn by himself. We respect the strong here. If he thinks that I’ll let him touch me in any way without my permission, he must receive the consequences and reflect on his actions. Stand aside or join him outside.” (Draama)
Ronilda then walked over to Guinee’s side.
“He won’t because you will not disobey your father.” (Ronilda)
Draama bared her teeth to show them that she meant it, but the two stood their ground.
While Draama was about to push all three of them through the door, a spear dug deep into it.
Everyone turned around to see Dramix already walking beside the fire, while Naleeit was following closely behind him.
“Are you going to continue to block our guests’ entrance?” (Dramix)
While walking forward, the people around him made a path that he took to the door and pulled out his spear. As it opened it let the cold in and snow came with it as it blows through the door as it opened even further. Dramix, lost his patients as he forces them fully open before he saw a small figure appear coming in through the blizzard. Everyone, even Dramix, backed away as the snow-covered serpent-like creature moved through the opening.
Its height was only big enough to reach Dramix’s knees, but everyone except the two people that closed the doors again kneeled to the beast before they walked over and did the same.
“Who? What?” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)
As Peter was trying to come up with a proper question, something unexpected happened. Peter heard the creature as if Dramix was speaking to him.
“So I assumed correctly. The shaman’s spirit has awakened from his slumber. For who I am, I’m Kel. For what I am, I’m one of the ancestral dragons.” (Kel)
Peter kept quiet and was a little humbled as Dramix spoke the same way.
“I’m greatly honored by your visit ancient one.” (Dramix’s Spirit Talking)
Kel then walked forward past the fire and sat down next to Dramix’s seat.
Dramix followed after her, while everyone else followed at a distance.
“We’ll continue this another time.” (Draama)
Draama said, as she turned around and followed everyone else. Kel then gestured for Dramix to take his seat before gobbling up a large piece of meat.
“I didn’t come here for a late-night meal shaman. If I did, there are more convenient houses to go to. No, I came here with a purpose. It hasn’t been announced yet, but the great games are about to begin. A lot of houses have already begun their preparations and choosing their representatives. I know that your house is small in comparison, but you have a lot of people’s attention. Your deeds abroad haven’t escaped our attention. While a lot of other people would like to make you and your house apart of another, I wish to empower yours by representing you directly.” (Kel)
Dramix dropped his jaw in surprise.
“I guess this is another task I’m going have to help you with.” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)
Dramix then closed his mouth and regained his composure.
“Unlike any other great one, you probably know that my household has a code. Are you sure about your decision?” (Dramix’s Spirit Talking)
Kel then chuckled through her mental link and her body.
“You’re correct. There are many lesser houses that I could have chosen. While many of them don’t have a leader as strong as you, none of them have one as a woman.” (Kel)
Dramix looked at Naleeit worried and then sighed.
“She’s our kind, but not our people. By our laws. I acknowledge her as my better and will never challenge her to prove otherwise. Not because she is stronger than, me but because I respect her too much to do so.” (Dramix’s Spirit Talking)
Kel nodded her head.
“Everyones knows that as well. While most of the others refuse to seek you out because of this, I praise you for it. The young accept to change the best, and while my age far exceeds yours, I’m not considered of age to the others. I know that many wish for me to join under them and command one of their lesser houses. I don’t want to serve someone older than me and not have the chance to grow on my own. I also don’t want to serve someone that will see me as only a clutch mother.” (Kel)
Dramix nodded in understanding when she said that.
“I see. I respect someone because of their strength, and I respect you a lot more knowing that you have the courage to break away from your fate. I know that a lot of females don’t want this fate and wish to see how strong or wise they can truly be. While I can’t help all of them, I can help a fair amount. I’ll accept your offer, you have Naleeit and my support. I know that as well.” (Dramix’s Spirit Talking)
After they stopped their mental link, Dramix looked back at Naleeit.
“When our guest leaves, please see to it that she gets to go where she desires.” (Dramix)
Naleeit nodded.
Dramix then looked back at the dragon and saw that Peter started a mental conversation with her, so he closed his eyes.
