Every morning assembly was when Li Jinnian spoke the most words; it was also when every soldier’s mental stress was at the peak. The Demon King in his suit of equipment stood before everyone’s eyes, his cold gaze swept across them, similar to a beam of thousands of sword-light sweeping across them, making them feel a chill up their spine.
Standing last on the first row, Ye Jian stood with her head and chest raised. When faced with the gaze Li Jinnian swept across her, her expression did not change in the slightest. Her eyes calmly gazed at the young Major that had made even the violent tides his background; she trapped each and every word he spoke in her ears as well as remember them in her heart.
Captain Xia had said Li Jinnian was a reasonably serious and responsible soldier. However, his temperament is a bit cold. Still, his personality is extremely just, his every word wouldn’t be directed at any specific person, that’s because, in his eyes, everybody was the same.
Like the words he had spoken just now, he was just reminding all the soldiers and didn’t aim it at her who had just joined in their training today.
When breakfast time came, the selected Navy soldiers sat together as they carefully discussed Ye Jian’s background. Someone pressed their throat down as they whispered: “Can she even make it? We’re not even certain that we can continue to remain here. I hope a female soldier like her wouldn’t be so exhausted she’ll be hospitalized.”
“I thought she was a clerk from the unit, I’d never expect she’s actually the same as us… Didn’t they say that the Frogmen weren’t recruiting female soldiers? Why did they recruit a female soldier now.”
“Quiet down, don’t let the Devil King catch you saying that. Whether she can make it or not isn’t up to us, neither is it up to the Devil King, it all depends on whether the female soldier herself can make it.”
“I think it’ll be tough for her, less than four hours of rest every day, twenty hours of training, I’m afraid the female soldier can’t pull through the week-long extreme training.”
Like the Storm Commando members in the past, all of them unanimously believed Ye Jian wouldn’t make it.
Even Ye Jian herself knew she had become the word of talks between the male soldiers. Standing before Li Jinnian, she said coolly: “I do not have any special requests, whatever the military arranges, I’ll obey.”
“I’ll only ask this once.” Faced with Ye Jian’s indifference, Li Jinnian nodded his head gently in the shadows. No special requests, neither did she try to bring up her requests; this was much less troublesome than he had imagined.
Everything will be fine since matters are simplified, even he wouldn’t like it if there’s a female soldier who was so delicate to bring up requests or throw her weight around every two-three days.
Understanding the meaning behind his words, Ye Jian smiled; she stared at the young Major who Xia Jinyuan had never stopped complimenting about, her voice slowly came out, “And I’ll only say this once.”
Not only was she untroublesome, but she was also quite capable. Very good.
With another layer of appraisement in his heart, Li Jinnian really didn’t say anything else. He motioned Ye Jian to return to the team as he turned around and left.
After taking two steps, Ye Jian turned around to glance at the tall and broad figure who was walking away with large strides. It was just like what Captain Xia had said, though the personality of Devil King Li in the Storm Commandos was cold and aloof, he was absolutely a Captain that was very easy to get along with. He was responsible to himself, responsible to every single new recruit, he was so strict that he didn’t allow so much as half a mistake.
A responsible man, no matter how cold and aloof he was, nobody would dislike him for that, because people would only respect him.
The male soldiers didn’t just ‘respect’ Devil King Li; they also ‘feared’ him. Meanwhile, Ye Jian, who had always been calm, didn’t feel fear. During the extreme training in the following week, she didn’t even bother to look at the expression on Li Jinnian’s face; she didn’t even have time to be concerned about him.
The Navy’s intense training all had something to do with water; there’s too much to learn about, even if their physical training exceeded 20 hours every day, she felt that time was a bit insufficient.
From obstacle training to boat steering exercise, till the last day’s boat surfing exercise, Ye Jian regretted that she couldn’t split one minute into two. Her enthusiastic attitude of remarking 24 hours a day is too little had managed to motivate the male soldiers to charge ahead as though they had been injected with stimulants.
