Chapter 10 – The First Fight

While only one person in the realm of Body Formation failed, around half of the people in the realm of Qi flow had failed the absorption test and they were all looking at me with the eyes of a hungry wolf.

The cultivators from the sects had already identified those who they wanted in their sect and moved to recruit them. It was interesting that a good number of males had wanted to join the Divine Blood Valley.

As I was standing near the group of people who passed, I overheard some whispers, mentioning that the majority of Divine Blood Valley cultivators were superior to other cultivators who are in the same realm from other sects as their body refining techniques would make it so that other cultivators would need a powerful weapon in order to break their thick muscular body. Another joined the conversation and said that even if they meet someone who they cannot defeat, they would often have more stamina and could run away if the need arises.

I too grew interested, and one of the cultivators from the Divine Blood Valley noticed it so he walked towards me with a grin.

“Skinny boy! Do you want to join the Divine Blood Valley?”

He noticed my expectant face and gave me a pat on my back, but before I could answer, he continues speaking.

“Honestly, we do not accept people like you into our sect as we have to pay extra attention to you and help you bulk up, as a person who picks a body refinement technique without the proper fitness will break his body down trying to practice and die. So I will give you a chance to prove that you are worth the extra attention. The fitness of a Qi Flow cultivator is stronger than a normal person, but not by much and they can often be defeated by a Body Formation practitioner with the skilled use of exceptional martial techniques.”

He then looks up towards the group of failures and makes a wide grin “Go defeat any of them.”

Upon hearing this, the group of failures got furious. Their eyes turned red after feeling the stress of failing and not entering a sect. they realised that defeating me was their chance.

Soon, 16 people stood out from the group of failures. It seemed like all of them had created an original technique or modified a technique.

Chang Qi Yue felt the bloodlust and curiously came to see what’s happening. After talking to the cultivator who talked to me, he smiled and looked towards the failures. “The best way to see if your skills have any value is to use it in combat. Fight this boy and defeat him. If you lose to a Body Formation boy, there is no need for you to stay here any longer.”

The other cultivator from the sect hears this and agrees.

One of the cultivators from Quanzhen Sect explains, “Losing to someone with a weaker fitness and a lower realm is just embarrassing. Cultivation only gets harder, while your lifespan will increase, there will come a day where you just cannot achieve a breakthrough.”

A tall, handsome man walks out from the group of failures and gives me a palm salute. “My name is Liu Bing. I’ve modified the <Shadowless Kick> and made the <Dragon Kick>. I apologise but I have to beat you for my own future.”

He then walks towards an empty space and stares at me.

(System what do I do? I’ve never fought before…)

[Beep!] [Host, are you joking right now? You were the one who wanted to join the martial sects. Do you think martial art is for performing in the streets? Your Spiral Punch is already enough to blow up an ordinary person into bits and pieces. Just blink and punch him with all your Qi!]

Listening to what the system told me, I am shocked at my own strength and I confidently walk towards Liu Bing and stand opposite him. We both enter a combat stance immediately.

Chang Qi Yue somehow naturally becomes the judge of the fight and counts down.

“Three…Two…One! Fight!”

I execute Instant Blink to appear in front of Liu Bang, and push all my qi into my arm, executing a full powered Spiral Punch. But Liu Bing takes a step back immediately, almost as if he had expected me to blink next to him and punch out. This single step backwards caused my Instant blink to land right infront of him, instead of to the side and my Spiral Punch to miss him and I could only watch as he lands a fast and heavy kick on me, which sends me flying to the right..

Roughly 2 seconds later, a loud “BOOM!” suddenly sounds out from the Spiral punched that i executed and I get yanked back by the suction. The ground is caved in and I land face flat on to the sand.

I guess I lost…The entire fight only lasted 3 seconds and I’ve also spent all my Qi and I can’t fight for a while before I recover so I’ve blown all my chances to join a sect…I feel so pathetic right now.

I look around and everyone seems to have lost interest in fighting me. Their faces, however, show hints of fear instead of disdain.

Chang Qi Yue walked forward lazily and announced Liu Bing won and tells Liu Bing to go talk to the other cultivators from the sect. He looks at the rest of the failures and speaks.

“You guys are cowards. Drill Punch is a common martial technique and there are still a few cultivators who use it even when they have formed their core. The explosion is compressed and far more destructive. “

He starts yawning with disinterest as if talking anymore is a waste of time and continues, “While you have a valid reason to be afraid as the amount of Qi this boy has is equivalent to a Core Formation cultivator, you can clearly see that he has no experience in fighting and as long as you keep your calm, you will be able to easily defeat him. Since none of you is willing to fight him, none of us here will want you to join our sect and be our junior brothers.”

Chang Qi Yue then turns towards me and sighs, “You are only 6 or 7 years old. Come back next decade and when you learn how to cultivate properly. We will accept you into our sect then. Remember to buff up your body as well.”

After he finished talking, he started to ignore me and walk towards his sect members. The guy who showed interest in me took a glance at me and grinned.

Soon the time for lunch arrived and the elders brought us to the dining hall and left to have their lunch somewhere else. It was a happy and joyous lunch for those who joined the sects but a depressing event for those who failed to join.

While there were around seventy people who passed the test, six people weren’t invited to join a sect. they tried to sell themselves to the members but they still could not get an invite in the end. The exquisite and delicious food wasn’t really helping too since the food seemed all so tasteless and not to mention that everyone here was from a big and powerful family, so we had already eaten such food many times before.

I learnt that Da Ji joined the Qing Yu Sect and was already being taken care of by her senior sisters like she was a princess. Watching her smiling face kind of made my mood better but it is weird how her senior sisters are already fawning over her.

Halfway through the dinner, Di Xin who had joined the Heavenly Palace, caught me ogling at Da Ji. He put down his chopsticks with some force, stood up and slowly walked towards me.

*PAK* Di Xin kicked the leg of the table and looked at me with a fierce glare.

“Trash from the branches, you should be aware of your status already. Don’t you dare get any ideas about Da Ji. Previously, we were all of the same family before but now we are people belonging to different worlds. Go look for someone at your own level and don’t cause trouble for the family by embarrassing yourself.”

Di Xin then flips his sleeves and causes the food and drinks on the table to flip over and splash all over me…

The other people just watch me getting humiliated.
