As previously mentioned, this is a complete rewrite of what I would have posted on Saturday. Not to go into all the reasons, but suffice it to say, writing a little bit at a time in brief chances to write is neither an efficient way to write, nor an effective one. Anyhow, this actually contains about 2/3s of the events of the original chapter, but shown rather than told, with the rest moved more appropriately to a following chapter merging up with all the stuff I wasn't able to squeeze in. In other words, these chapters are the non-abridged form.
This story probably feels like it is moving too slow, but I went back a reread, and it is an artifact of my slow pace of writing. This is just a really bad place in the narrative, with so many moving parts in play, to have only one chapter a week, sometimes every two weeks. For that, I can only apologize, because there is not a lot I can do about it. I can only hope it is still enjoyable.
