Heath Hollings didn't want to move to Gronland, a "speck of dirt" in the middle of the English Channel. He certainly didn't want to attend Inkwell Primary, a Victorian school that looks more like a prison than a place of learning. But after a family move lands him in the "Wolfe’s Den", Heath quickly realizes that dodging the school bully, Dwayne, is the least of his problems.

Heath's world turns upside down when he's paired with Amber Faraday, a self-appointed parapsychologist who carries a "violin case" full of salvaged ghost-hunting gadgets, and Barnaby "Barn" Wick, a walking encyclopaedia of local history. Together, they discover that Inkwell Primary isn't just old—it's haunted.
