All the soldiers in the unit knew Ye Jian was going to go home today, everyone felt reluctant about it.
They trained together, suffered together, shouted together, ran together, even wiping off their tears together,… suddenly it was time for them to part. The originally happy atmosphere gradually cooled down as the boat got closer to the port.
Big Whale touched his face, with blood-shot eyes from pulling all-nighters, he smiled: “Feels like the boat has sailed quite quick today; we’ve reached the dock in no time. Ye Jian, I’ll send you into the car later.”
“Together, we’ll send her together.”
“Do you still have luggage needing to pack in the port camp?”
“Do you want to buy some sea-specialties back? Yunnan is by the river, not the ocean, buy some sea-specialties and let your family have a taste.”
Everyone said something or another and finally pulled the downcast atmosphere back up. Each face that was filled with a soldier’s masculinity wore bright smiles; the gazes looking at Ye Jian was warm yet friendly.
Although they had known each other for less than two months, their camaraderie had established at some point. Adding to that, usually, when the soldiers encounter a training exercise that they had trouble solving during the training, Ye Jian would always help them figure out a way to solve it. Everyone had built a good rapport with each other. At this point, she hadn’t even left, but some of the soldiers were already looking forward to the next time they’ll get together.
The reason Ye Jian liked life in the military boot camp was precise because of a group of comrades who can share well and woe together.
The port was already very close; Ye Jian’s face smiled as she replied one by one, “Someone would be coming to get me; there’s no need to trouble everyone to see me off. As for sea-specialties, there are only two elders at home, they don’t like those things too much, so I won’t be bringing back any.”
“I think the next time we meet again won’t be too long; maybe I’ll suddenly come back one day.”
Big Eel then laughed: “See you off, of course, someone needed to see you off, but it’s impossible for everyone here to go; why don’t we choose a representative. Let Captain Li represent us; he will see our comrade, Ye Jian off.”
Let Devil King Li see her off?
Ye Jian laughed with pursed lips; that cold face of his doesn’t seem like he’s going to see her off. Instead, it looks more like… he’s escorting a prisoner away.
“The Devil King looks too grim, walking alone with him, it gives off the feeling of a policeman escorting a prisoner. Everybody just let me off the hook, huh, I really don’t want the person who was going to get me later to misunderstand, thinking that I made a mistake in the unit and caused the Devil King to come out himself.” After spending nearly two months with them, Ye Jian and the Water Demons could already gather together and laugh as they made harmless jokes.
Meanwhile, Li Jinnian, who was the Captain, always managed to be the topic between the soldiers. They respected him, yet they liked discussing him in private.
All of the soldiers started imagining that scene, every one of them couldn’t hold back their laughter, truly it does seem like that!
The boat docked on the port, the representative, the comrades, were discussing, Li Jinnian, appeared before the crowd, his frosty gaze accurately locked on Ye Jian’s face. Before he managed to speak, Big Eel, who picked up the diving equipment and was about to get off the boat, laughed: “Devil King, we choose you as the representative to see Ye Jian off.”
Everyone held their own diving equipment as they stood in an orderly manner. Ye Jian, who was in the Ground Forces’ training uniform, stood at the forefront. Meeting Li Jinnian’s frosty gaze, the corners of her lips carried a smile as she answered, “There’s no need to trouble, I only have this one small bag, until…”
“Give me.” Li Jinnian unconcernedly interrupted her; he walked over, bent his waist, and picked up Ye Jian’s bag that only stored her change of underwear and two sets of short sleeves and shorts. When he lifted his eyes, his handsome eyes contained a hard to notice smile in them, “Relax, I wouldn’t escort you onto the boat like a criminal.”
He had heard what Ye Jian had joked about just now. This female soldier, sometimes the things she said made it hard for someone to decide whether or not to laugh or cry.
