Chapter 1717: Chat

Political Commissar Yan and Regiment Commander Liu, who had their backs against Ye Zhifan, didn’t notice he was there until they unexpectedly heard “Regiment Commander Liu” behind them. When they turned around and saw Ye Zhifan striding forward, their faces were quite surprised.

Why is he here? And of all places, why does he head to the operation room? Does he know that Old Chen is unwell?

Political Commissar Yan and Regiment Commander Liu glanced at each other; their faces became cold.

They didn’t really have a good impression of Ye Zhifan. He must have understood this truth, as well. And yet, he was still so shameless to actually come to greet them?

Director Ye, you’re a real talent.

Ye Zhifan had already recognized who the tall man was. He became more and more certain that the person lying in the operating room must be someone from the military, definitely a military leader.

“Regiment Commander Liu, Political Commissar Yan, why are the two standing outside the operating room? Is a military leader ill?” Ye Zhifan had been an official for several years, so he was entirely shameless. He knew that the two men standing opposite of him didn’t welcome him at all, but so what?

He was just gently making a conversation. They were soldiers, and all of them were in the hospital now, so what could they do to him?

He just needed to let them know that he really wanted to fix their relationship so that it could go back to the stage where they could chat and have meals together like old friends. “You talk to him.” Regiment Commander Liu said to Political Commissar Yan, not wanting to talk to Ye Zhifan at all. “I won’t be worried if it’s you handling this matter. Just simply say some things to chase him away, what a sore eye to have him here.”

“Old Chen also doesn’t like him. We must send him away before Old Chen comes out.”

Regiment Commander Liu replied. Then, he nodded slightly towards Ye Zhifan and turned his back to the two recruits who were about to leave, saying, “You two go back to the army and see if Company Commander Yue can bring more people here as soon as possible.”

“Yes, Regiment Commander!” The two recruits stood at attention, saluted, and left neatly.

Ye Zhifan would not put these conscripts in his eyes. He purposely stood aside and then smiled slightly at the two recruits when they passed by. After that, he turned to Political Commissar Yan and said, “Soldiers brought up by you two are indeed different. They totally don’t look like new soldiers. Instead, they look like a veteran who had served the army for several years.”

Ye Zhifan really knew how to talk, but to have a conversation, he also had to see if Political Commissar Yan was willing to be polite to him or not.

It’s a pity that Political Commissar Yan didn’t have a good impression on Ye Zhifan as well. He could still be polite if it were someone else, but he really didn’t have that patience when facing Ye Zhifan. Upon hearing this, he smiled and said, “Is there anything you want to say, Director Ye? If there is, then quickly say it. Old Liu and I have things to deal with.”

It was obvious that he wanted him to leave.

Ye Zhifan, whose eyes became slightly dark, was a little annoyed. Tch, I wanted to be polite to you, but this is how you treat me? You’re just a political commissar! You dare to act proudly in front of me!

Ye Zhifan’s temper became much worse ever since he became a director. He liked to listen to flattery, and he was held up and respected by his subordinates. So how could he have patience? But he also wanted to build a good relationship with the local troops, so he had to hold back no matter how annoyed he was.

And so he replied, “Oh, nothing. My old mother has been recuperating in the hospital because of a stroke. I was just about to leave when I accidentally saw Regiment Commander Liu entering the elevator, so I came over to say hello.”

“Is it your friend, in the operating room? I am quite close with the dean of the hospital; how about I call the dean to make some arrangements and proper care for your friend?”

Political Commissar Yan sneered silently and said unhurriedly: “Yes, just a friend. No worries, it’s just some digestive problems, not a big deal. Director Ye, you should go accompany your mother.”
