Two Unfortunate Men (Prologue)

In another world, inside the forest.

There are sounds of weapons clashing everywhere. Dead bodies lie down on the rough ground, and a considerable amount of blood was splattered and dyed the ground crimson red.

Levi was the only one standing among his comrades. He was a hired escort guard for a merchant when seven unknown guys attacked them. He didn’t know precisely why they were ambushed, but from the looks of it, they were not bandits because they were not focused on the loots; they were more of an assassin, focused on killing. They killed all of his companions quickly in a quiet yet fashionable way.

With all his might, he tried to defend himself against a strong sword-master, yet to no avail. He just doesn’t stand a chance.
He was kicked in the stomach and fell to the ground.

“Who are you all? Why are you doing this? If you want the loot, get it! I have nothing against it. But please spare me!.” said Levi while pleading for his life. His eyes widening and his whole body is trembling in fear.

These seven killers were composed of two women and five men. They surrounded him while their lips curled up into a sinister smile.

“We don’t need that trivial amount; what we need to do is to immediately destroy a destiny before it even reached our master. We need to kill you!” said the man in the middle. He has blonde hair and a tiny built, but still, his strength was incomparable.

Levi has seen visions, and from what he confirmed from asking traveling bards and knowledgeable mages. This is called Destiny’s Call. When people have this, they will become a destiny to someone, whether in a good or bad way. In Levi’s case, he was a negative destiny to someone. From his vision, he was destined to kill a mighty and influential man.

The man took action before destiny happens. He killed Levi before Levi can kill him. A sagacious move.

“How can I kill a powerful man? I am powerless! I’m merely but an escort guard! Even bears are a threat for me!” he replied, pointing that he can’t possibly kill him with his mediocre strength.

“Destiny is destiny! We don’t know for sure. It’s a good choice to dispose of you right now.” the thin man said.

He then swung his sword, causing Levi’s left arm to be severed as it flew away several feet from him. The blood splattered everywhere and covered his severed arm.

He is in the act of finishing Levi with a thrust of a sword to his upper body when one of the women who accompanied him said, “Don’t kill him yet, let him die in agony. His blood will run out eventually.”

“Hmm… It seems that you really like that way of doing things. Leaving your opponent barely alive for them to suffer until their last breath. We did that on our last mission before this one. Why would you want to do it again?” said the man as he stopped before the sword hits Levi.

“Well, don’t you like it? You don’t have to.” the woman said

Then the thin man stared at her and laugh.

“HAHAHAHAHA! Of course, I like it! HAHAHAHA! It’s so cruel. It makes my blood boil from the craziness!”

The woman just stared at him. Then, they all jumped out and dispersed. Their moves were quick and silent. No traces have been left.

Levi was left leaning his back on a tree. Blood flowed out endlessly from his left arm.

In this situation, Levi cherished his memories.

Moments of eating with his parents.

Playing with his friends as a child.

His mother’s pitiful face as she was slowly dying from an illness.

His little sister’s bright and beautiful smile.

“This is it if I only knew that it will come to this, maybe I shouldn’t have escorted this merchant…” He paused and coughed up blood. ” What a destiny….” He said his final words and released his very last breath.

He died.

Meanwhile, on Earth. In the middle of the night, at a park surrounded by trees with pretty well-lit light-posts.

“Stop! You rotten thugs! Don’t you hurt that man! He’s just a powerless beggar! He didn’t even have a weapon, yet you all have long metallic pipes and baseball bats! That’s unfair! Come here! I can take on all of you!” The young man said to the group of thugs that’s bullying a beggar.

They turned their attention to him and smiled grimly. Their smile combined with the moon’s faint light and the overshadowing of light behind them was very sinister.

“What’s with this arrogant boy? You wanna some beating?” The man with a blue bonnet hat and yellow jacket said to the young man.

This young man is named Elvin, an engineer working at a typical company as a “slave.”

Then, they all rushed towards Elvin and attacked.

Head, stomach, back, legs, these were the part where Elvin was struck by their baseball bats and metallic pipes. He was covered with bruises all over his body, his corporate attire was torn off. He was lying with his face towards the ground. He’s unable to move due to the severe injuries that he sustained.

He coughed up blood a few times, he cannot feel his body anymore, and he felt cold.

The thugs left and fled away after what they did. If somebody saw them and called the police, it will not be suitable for them.

“What a life! Haha! ” said Levi sarcastically while thinking of his sad, lonely, and overworked life.
.
“Well… I think this is it, It’s a boring life, but it’s fine. Is it worth it?” He looked at the poor beggar and smiled, “I guess so? would it be bad if it is not?”

He coughed up and breathed his last.

Several hours later, back to Levi’s world.

In a big and grandiose castle, the seven people who tried to kill Levi were on their knees. In front of them is a man wearing a luxurious white robe and a golden crown embedded with diamonds. Beside this man were his royal guards, they were silently standing beside him, yet they look so dangerous. There were also royal guards on the entrance and the sides of the castle.
.
“Your Majesty. We’ve successfully done what you commanded us to do. The man who was destined to kill Your Majesty was being eaten by worms right now.” Said the thin man that severed Levi’s arm.

The king was silent as he was looking at an unordinary crystal ball. This is a magical item. It can project scenes from far away using the eyes of magical birds.

In the crystal ball, a scene was playing. A man was lying on a bed covered with a white blanket. It was a person familiar to him. It was Levi.

“Yeah… dead… worms…” His voice was deep, and one can quickly recognize that this was the voice of a disappointed person.

The king nodded his head to his royal guards. Then, the royal guards walked beside the seven-person kneeling in front of the king and apprehended them. The royal guards hold their shoulders, and this makes them unable to move.

“Your Majesty, what is this?! We’ve done what you ordered us to do.” said the woman with pink hair and slightly dark skin.

“You all are a failure!” angrily said the king. His face was still hiding from the shadows, yet you can see his eyes emanating an aura of rage.

He stretched his arm towards the seven people, and in an instant, they all turned to worms.

“I guess I shall do this myself,” he said after killing those seven.

He stood up and with his two hands. Waves of light-colored magic gathered on his palms. It formed a magical circle with inscriptions. Next, he said some incantations,

“The light will punish. The light will prevail. Thou curse this man and end the darkness!”

Suddenly, invisible magic traveled from the king’s location to the distant place of Levi.

When it hit Levi, it was like he suddenly hopped a little bit off his bed. Then a magical circle same as that on the king’s was drawn on his left chest. The magic circle seemed to penetrate Levi’s skin, and later it completely dissolved.

After this, Levi’s left foot under the blanket has become transparent as it blinked for a moment and reappeared again. It blinked almost three times until it stopped, and his feet go back to normal.

Back to the castle,

“I can’t directly kill him, or else the destiny will eliminate me immediately too, but these worms are a complete failure….” The king looked at the seven pitiful worms crawling on the cold hard floor.

“With that curse, his body parts will disappear one by one as time passes by. The only way he can get that back is to kill me, but that’s only if he’s still intact and in good condition.” said the king.

Then his lips curled up into a grim smile.
