WHOOP! Sound of fire came along with the sudden flame caused by breeze. Both of them swiveled to see the fire about to spread. Genzou’s long hair strings floated in the wind. Their eyes locked with each other after watching the fire.
“Wernh’An’s nightmare is about fire.” Shinji grinned.
Genzou’s let out thin air and headed to extinguish the fire while Eiga was coming towards Shinji.
I must make him breach the law of fire. Shinji thought and let the arrow loose. Commander Eiga moved aside despite of the arrow already missing him by a big margin. Just after hearing Godfree’s groan, he understood for whom the arrow was meant for.
Genzou fell on floor, with the arrow through his body, inches infront of the table. Breeze also became strong, fueling fire underneath in the process.
Eiga glanced at Wernh’An then at Shinji. Then back again at Wernh’An. This gave idea to Shinji about the commander’s priorities. Shinji’s death could wait but Wernh’An’s revival couldn’t.
Giving Shinji a look of contempt, he sprinted towards the bed with no idea what to do. Meanwhile Shinji put another arrow in his bow, knowing where he had to aim this time.
Eiga heard the bow bending. He made a fist and directed it at Shinji.
Some parts of the minute sparkle which had fallen on grass increased to the size of a bear and flew towards Shinji’s direction. Shinji held his breath as the fireball came closer to him. But when it came near, he couldn’t keep his breath held. He wrapped himself like a ball and breathed the scorching air.
Shinji felt his eyebrows melting. Hair on his temple glued to his ears. It was when he left his defense position and tried to find the exit in directionless fireplace before he would turn into smoking heap of meat.
He jumped out from the flames and landed on the ground. Shinji’s arms had reddened and parts of his clothing had attached to his skin. Pain started with the breeze hitting him, reminding him of the burns he had received.
The wind did him favor too by spreading the fire underneath Wernh’An’s bed. He saw Commander Eiga removing logs which had caught fire. With cautiousness of not touching Wernh’An, the commander compromised the speed. In absence of some logs in the middle, the structure began losing its shape. At one point Eiga was certain that the entire thing would crumble. But the breeze had nothing to do with any of those. Maybe there was a storm going on in Hilcastle.
Nonetheless flames were centimeters away from touching Wernh’An and ruining the entire procedure.
Commander Eiga stopped touching the pile and stayed calm for a second or so. Shinji saw his upper body inflating and deflating in the duration of taking some thoughtful breaths. Eiga extended his fist towards Wernh’An and released his fingers free with a burst of strength.
Then came a loud fuss fire disappeared immediately. Smoke didn’t come out from the place. Fire inside the cave also disappeared. Again, with no smoke as a result.
Eiga dropped his sword and he tumbled because his shaking feet could no longer keep him upright. He had broken the law of fire to save Wernh’An and lost the power. Staggering to his knees, Shinji noticed Eiga’s hair which had now gone grey.
Shinji, lot quicker than him, went for the sword slipped out of the grey haired commander’s hands. He clutched it before Eiga could regain his senses back. Now with the sword in his possession, Shinji faced a dilemma.
Whom should I hit first? He looked at Wernh’An then at the crippled commander.
Shinji lifted the sword high over his head, targeting for back of Eiga’s neck. The fierce blow guillotined towards him till Eiga gyrated in lightening speed and caught the sword by his bare hand. Blood dripped from his palm but he seemed to be gripping it more to show Shinji how unaffected he was from the pain.
