“Holy s***.” Micah thought as he heard the alert. “I have no idea if that stone will help me. Healing would be incredibly useful and if I meet people I might even be able to earn some money.”
Micah wanted to just ignore the second reward, but his instincts triggered, and he begrudgingly thought about the linguistic stone, and information about the stone flooded his mind. The linguistic stone was very similar in nature to a universal translator he read about in science fiction books. The stone was a rare item, and why it wasn’t automatic, once he activated the stone and positioned it on the back of his neck. He could learn to read, write and speak languages at an incredibly fast rate.
The stone took in information and then translated it into words he would comprehend. It wouldn’t just make things understandable. It would actually give him the knowledge to know the language, and even if he took the stone off. He would still know the languages he learned, but the speed of understanding them would just decrease down to normal. Different languages were difficult to learn, but the more he heard, read or wrote the language the faster he would understand it.
It was then that he realized that this stone wasn’t useless, but incredibly rare. He hadn’t thought about what he would do if he met others. They might speak another language all together and if he didn’t understand them. It was just as likely he would be mistrusted and even attacked. He shivered as he realized that it might not be useful right now since he was alone. It would though come in very handy when Micah decided to explore.
Micah thought about the stone and felt his hand flex, and he saw that a clear stone was now in his hand. The information on how to use it was clear in his mind, and he placed the clear stone on the back of his neck. He felt a warm feeling on his neck and slowly the stone was tugged from his hand, and he could feel it sink into his neck. The stone would stay there until he chose to remove it. The moment it fully attached to his neck he felt a flood of more information, and realized his mind cleared up and his thoughts were more focused.
Micah looked around and felt his senses were more astute now as he could clearly hear the surrounding wildlife. This was something he would have to explore more and find the limits on, but he also wanted to get to the medium healing spell. Suddenly, like before, information started to flow into his mind, but unlike before it wasn’t as overwhelming, and he knew that the linguistic stone was much more helpful than he first thought. Micah heard the voice from before with a rush of alerts.
“You have gained Medium Healing at Level 1.”
“You have gained Minor Healing at level 2.”
“You have gained physical scan at level 2.”
“You have gained the knowledge anatomy at level 2.”
“You have gained the skill spiritual meditation at Level 2.”
“You have gained the skill spiritual transfer at Level 2.”
“Your spiritual pool has been opened. You may now store spiritual energy.”
There were seven alerts in all, and from the information that he received, he knew there were spells, skills and volumes of knowledge. Micah was surprised that he just new about basic anatomy of not only humans but a number of different races. The knowledge was fairly detailed, but it was there, and with this he knew where different organs were in the body.
The second thing he understood was that unlike video games where the person could just learn the spell and use it. Things didn’t work the same here, because to use the spells he had to have specific energy and the spells he received now all used spiritual energy. The spiritual energy had to be gathered and stored in the spiritual pool. That pool was currently empty and to fill it he had to pull it out of a mixture of different energies that swirled around him.
The way to absorb spiritual energy was using the skill spiritual meditation. The moment he thought about it the chant appeared in his head and just the rhythm made him feel comfortable, and it was as if he had used the meditation for years. Just from the memories that were implanted into him he knew that it took a lot of effort and hard work to learn spells, and anything he didn’t get from the system and had to learn on his own would be tedious to say the least.
The two healing spells he received we healed minor and heal medium. They weren’t just spells that he could just cast and it would heal automatically. He would have to have an image of exactly what he wanted to do and the spiritual power would follow it. He would have to be focused and the way he would know what to do was the third spell he got. It was called physical scan, and he could use it to use spiritual power to scan and find out what was wrong in the first place.
He sat down and let everything settle in his mind, and he felt the urge to start meditating right now, but he resisted that urge because he still had a lot to do to secure everything. Micah felt confident in his progress and worked the rest of the afternoon gathering and reinforcing his camp site. He then slipped back inside the tree doorway and sat on the moss bed and started to meditate.
There was no awkwardness in the meditation, and Micah could feel the vibrant spiritual energy all around him. The spiritual energy that was floating around him started to be pulled toward him. As the spiritual energy entered him he felt it naturally flow through him, and circulate around his body finally ending up in an area around his heart, and then settled in what he realized was his spiritual pool. The energy seemed to swirl around his spiritual pool and started to condense into a single drop and it was stored in the pool.
The process was comfortable and that one drop seemed to excite his body as the process continued over and over slowly filling up his spiritual pool with spiritual drops. He was lost in meditation and when he came out of it he realized it was daytime and instead of exhaustion. Micah felt amazing as his whole body was filled with energy instead of being tired. Micah slowly rose to his feet and pulled back the pine covering and stepped out into the sunlight.
The days were long as Micah started to plan for the future. Right now he had a tree to stay in, but he needed something more secure. His memories from his past life were clear in his head, and he was surprised about that. In fact, his memory was much more clear than when he was in real life. There were different experiences of his life he had totally forgotten, but now they were crystal clear to him. He remembered all the different projects he worked on with his wife and frowned. Those memories were bitter-sweet, but they were packed with valuable life experiences that should help him here.
During the day he built a mold and then started gathering clay. It was arduous work and it was rough going at the beginning, but by night fall he had fifteen similar sized clay bricks. That night he focused on meditation and slowly started to fill up his spiritual pool. The next day he was still energized but felt some mental fatigue and realized that he couldn’t go without sleep. He decided to focus on creating bricks and instead of meditation that night he got a full night’s sleep.
The days turned in to a pattern as he switched between making clay bricks and making tools for hunting and foraging. He continued to meditate and when his spiritual pool was full he practiced his scan spell on everything he could find. He discovered that scan could not just follow the spiritual energy but other energies as well. The ground, air, fire, water, nature and even storms had many types of the same energy that was scattered throughout the land and sky around him.
Micah attempted to scan the different types of energy, but he couldn’t seem to draw them to him. He could only draw spiritual energy, so he tried to find different ways of using it. The amount of spirit energy he used in healing depended on what he used it on. The internal organs seemed to be easier to use and take less spiritual energy, but the muscle, veins and bones took much more energy to heal.
A month after he arrived he was finally able to hunt a little with his spears and ax. His skill was lacking and many of the animals avoided him, but he changed his strategy. He learned how to set traps and pits and was able to pull in some decent sized game. He learned to use animal oils to help dry the pelts and skins, and he used animal hairs to use as thread. He felt a lot of accomplishment for his first set of fur clothes and then even more for his next few sets.
The confidence was continuing to grow and by the time he reached the 60 day mark he had put together a number of different new projects. He had a square water trough made out of brick and also a long trough that he could use as a bath. He also started working on the foundation for a cabin, and he had hauled a number of tree logs over to use for the walls. The cabin had four rooms in it including two rooms that could be used for storage or bedrooms and one that was used as a kitchen and an area he was building his fire place.
The last room was at the back of the cabin and it was where he wanted to put another stone bath and maybe a kiln area to warm up the water. He felt bad about having to go the bathroom in an outhouse, but the smell would be too overwhelming to have in the cabin. He had made a promise to himself once he finished the cabin he would then go out and explore a little, and why it wasn’t completely finished. About 100 days in he decided that he deserved a little excitement by going exploring.
