They travelled for hours and hours. Roderick told him everything about wizard’s curse because he was bored out of his mind.
They only stopped for giving water to horses. Horses were having more water than them. Roderick hadn’t seen Sheriff drink a single drop of ever since he had met him.
It seemed as if he was not being affected by the burning sun. Roderick thought his lungs were about to catch fire. Desert air was so monstrous. Sheriff hadn’t even given water to Gonzalez’s man.
He cares about his horses more than people. Why doesn’t he own a camel if he has to go in the desert? Roderick thought sometimes on their journey to Time Tower.
“Does Gonzalez live there alone?” Roderick asked.
“He is too much of a p**** to live alone. He lives with around twenty homies.” Sheriff said while he poured some water on the jute sack.
Sheriff came back to his horse after accommodating captive to kill his thirst.
“How will you kill them alone? I mean I am with you but I don’t think I may not be of much help.”
“I don’t even need your help, but I need to have a back – up. I am enough alone for those goons.” said Sheriff and perplexed Roderick even more.
“You may die!”
“It is impossible.” Sheriff laughed him off.
They rode for another half an hour and came to an unwanted halt in their journey. Roderick saw some masked men on their horses revolving around a train. Those robbers fired through the windows and splattered blood inside those compartments.
“Who are these savages?” Roderick questioned the Sheriff.
“Ku Klux Klan.” Sheriff answered him and ran towards the train ambush, leaving the horse and sack on the burning sand.
Roderick wondered what he was doing. Sheriff had not even asked for his help and was now running towards the train with air shots.
All the while, Roderick was counting the bullets he was wasting in air. Sheriff stopped his madness at the count of six and Ku Klux Klan also gave him their attention at that count.
Even their horses did.
You damn fool, you wasted all your bullets. How are you going to fight? Bite them? Roderick thought.
