The kingdom of Iceborn… The kingdom’s capital was constantly covered in snow, placed on the side of the mountain called Ere. It only had two distinct roads climbing up the mountain, one to go down the other to come up. A wall surrounded the capital’s front made of a peculiar grayish bluestone to keep everything from peering in and had two watchtowers to peer out. To its back was a magical forest filled with danger that seemed to crawl to the top of the mountain and guarding it was the royal castle made out of the same stone, but also surrounded by floating magic circles and small towers facing the forest. The other five major cities being placed here and there on the mountain and the village spread around its base. While they were friendly with all the major kingdoms around it they were still secluded from the rest of the world. The kingdom in recent years had been declining due to the wars with the kingdom of Relz. Though if you visited any of the major cities, even with a few thousand refugees, they were content as not only had Relz started the war, they were losing it too.
The land of Iceborn, considered one of the most powerful kingdoms on the continent. Not for their great lands or great armies. But for the sole reason of being one of the two kingdoms to have lasted over 5000 years. Their walls and barriers couldn’t be broken even after over a hundred wars.
However no one was stupid enough to attack them just for that, it was for the sole purpose of taking the kingdoms greatest treasure. The mana forest at the top of the mountain, the forest of Ere, was a treasure trove that gave them the resources and strength to last this long. Its mysteries were seemingly boundless, even after 5000 years no one had been able to reach the center of the forest. Not only was the path froth with dangers but the high mana density was deadly to those under third grade.
Far to the east of the Ere…..
A gigantic yet gray looking kingdom nestled between three mountains was the kingdom of Relz. The kingdom wasn’t surrounded by walls as the mountains provided a natural barrier between the main city and its enemies. Around the mountains, one could see smaller farming villages scattered about. However, there was one area in the gulch of a mountain that seemed to glow even in the morning. This iron fortress is the place where they trained and armed their soldiers but also a fort for the worst of time. Residing in the ‘castle’ was the king Requien la Relz and his younger brother Sen.
Requien: “ How have the preparations been. I gave you this position for your great fighting and leading prowess so I expect great things.”
Requiem, the king of Relz, looked exactly as you’d think a king of an imperialist kingdom would. His straight back and young but handsome face with slight clack stubble shone with power. The thing that made him stand out however was how big he was. Not only tall but heavily muscled, he looked like he never missed a day of training.
His brother however while still being muscular and his body very verbose. His mixture of black long clothing and decrepit face made him look sinister. Starting to speak, “ It’s been very easy so far, training soldiers was never a hard thing. Plus with all the extra funds and the royal warlocks, you sent over, crafting magical items has been a breeze. Though..”
“What is it?”
“We have yet to come up with a sure-fire way of killing that bastard Requille. We are almost 50 years older than him yet he is an entire level above us!”
With the compounding power and difficulty between stages, only with 10 or more 4th-grade mages or warriors could they face the 5th-grade Requille. Not only that, but Requille was considered a genius among geniuses, even with the 13 or so 4th grades they could muster from allied kingdoms they still only had a 30% chance of winning.
With a scrunched face Requien thought for a bit,” I’ll handle it, just worry about getting up that mountain. We both know how many mage towers and tricks they have.”.
