When they returned to the dormitory at night, Wei Min whispered to Su Mian, “You didn’t just casually choose the sprint, right?” Sprinting depended completely on talent, unlike the 800 metre race which could be practiced.
“Silly girl, of course not. Compared to the 800 metre, I’m better at sprinting.” Su Mian had discovered this after her physical strength had increased. In fact, for the sports competition this time, she had not planned on signing up for the 800 metre since the beginning. Her goal from the start had been to defeat Yang Qian so that their class would have a chance to win the championship.
For the next few days, Su Mian had undoubtedly become the focus. No matter where she went, someone would take the initiative to greet her and junior students would give her notes.
Even when teachers of various subjects came to class, they would first praise the sports star, Su Mian, for a while before starting class. Su Mian was very helpless and wanted to crawl into a hole in the ground every time.
Zhang Yan Jie had been incredibly angry in recent days. Her fall on the 100 metre track had long become the topic of post-dinner conversation among the students. There were those who ran to third year class six just to see who Zhang Yan Jie was and what she looked like.
Once, Zhang Yan Jie was so angry that she rushed out and chased them away, scaring those troublemakers so much that they never dared to come again. However, Zhang Yan Jie had also gained the reputation of being a shrew.
On the podium, Wu Yu Mei finally finished complementing Su Mian and then began to talk about the lesson. Zhang Yan Jie was so angry that she tore several Chinese papers.
“Is it making you that angry? She just runs fast!” Sun Ying sat next to Zhang Yan Jie and had been distracted by her tearing paper that she did not hear Wu Yu Mei’s question.
Zhang Yan Jie glanced at Sun Ying, “Why are you speaking for her now? Don’t forget how she stole your biology class representative and lead reader positions?”
“Don’t change the subject. I think Su Mian is not at fault for this sports competition. It was you who suggested that she run in the sprints and now that she beat you, you’re unhappy. Besides, if Su Mian had not participated and you didn’t get a single point, it would be weird if our class could win the championship.” Sun Ying had thought about it for the past few days. She and Su Mian did not hate each other deeply but she had still asked her cousin to teach Su Mian a lesson. Was that not a bit too much?
She knew the people who worked for her cousin quite well and there was nothing they did not dare to do.
When Zhang Yan Jie heard Sun Ying’s tone, she felt that her attitude towards Su Mian had changed after the sports competition, “What do you mean, surely not everything is my fault?”
If you say it is, then it is. Sun Ying ignored Zhang Yan Jie and continued paying attention to class. Principal Sun already knew her results for this month’s exams. Her father looked at her a few times, then left without saying a word.
This made Sun Ying even more uncomfortable, it would have been better to just scold her directly. She recalled how for the past two months, she had not put her mind to studying and had followed Zhang Yan Jie all day, thinking about Su Mian.
As a result, Su Mian’s grades had kept rising and she had done herself in.
The most important thing was that Principal Sun had told her something secretly and the information had chilled her heart for a while. Hence, she must study hard during this time otherwise she really would have no chance.
Zhang Yan Jie saw that Sun Ying was not close to her like she had been everytime and her hatred for Su Mian deepened even more.
Zhang Xiao Feng was being watched closely by the police station during this period of time and they had attacked every few days which made him utterly exhausted. So, he had no time and no energy to care about Su Mian.
During self-study in the evening, the students who were originally immersed in the lively atmosphere from the sports competition were suddenly made nervous again by a piece of information.
An owner of a small convenience store in Bai County had been shot dead. The murderers had already been determined as the three brothers of the Liu family. The three who had murdered and stolen money and other goods were on the run.
There were all kinds of rumours outside. It was said that someone saw the three Liu brothers hiding in the mountains after killing the victim. There were two big mountains behind Su Mian’s school.
The students became even more scared after hearing this.
The school instantly issued an order to prohibit all students from leaving the campus for the time being and all teachers coming and going must register.
Panic ensued immediately and the more timid girls would go to the bathroom at night in groups of three to five.
