Chapter 7: In The Past I Was In The Wrong

With this discovery, Su Mian jumped in excitement. If she were to remove the weeds and water the plants in the future, would her physical points increase faster?

Su Mian joyfully put aside the farming equipment and cleaned the layer of dust on the first level of the tower. After finishing all that, she was drenched in sweat all over.

She tested the temperature of the stream and noticed it was suitable. As such, she decided to take a bath.

Outside this mysterious tower space, it was already the coldest time of the year. As her village was in the northeast region, taking a bath in the winter was especially painful. Even a barrel of hot water would quickly become cold.

The creek flowed past a giant rock that was slightly submerged underwater. It was about two meters long and a meter wide.

Su Mian removed her clothes and rested on top of the rock, closing her eyes. The creek water flowed over her body. Schools of small fish would swim by occasionally and bite and tickle her toes, making her giggle joyfully.

The creek water completely washed away the black mud from her body. After taking a bath, Su Mian immediately felt refreshed, and she could feel her energy coming back to her.

What an extraordinary stream!

Su Mian put on her clothes and realized she had been away for a long time and should return soon.

At the thought of leaving the tower space, her body immediately appeared inside her original room.

The space inside the tower was easy to operate. Just by her thoughts, she was able to enter and leave as she pleased, thus making her like it even more.

Looking at the clock on the wall, it seemed she had only been gone for an hour.

How is that possible?

Her own body clock was telling her that at least three hours had passed while she was inside the tower space. However, only an hour had passed in the actual world. This discovery made Su Main even more excited.

Wouldn’t this mean the seeds only need a day to germinate while she was away?

This discovery meant that time moved roughly three times faster in the tower space. This also meant that the seeds would grow three times as fast. Su Mian wondered if she could bring out the herbs from the tower space. She planned to try it next time.

The only regret she had was her inability to use the tower space to earn money. Now, she needed to find another way to do so.

“Xiao Mian, stop studying, and come for dinner!” Her stepmother, He Qin, walked in and touched her forehead before smiling, “Well, there seems to be no more fever.”

“Mother, you worry too much! She’s as strong as a bull, and all the good things are given to her to eat. If she died so easily, then how are we going to live?”

The door’s curtain lifted and a young boy jumped in. He appeared to be darker in skin and was thin, but his large eyes appeared especially bright.

He was Su Mian’s younger brother, Su Jin Long.

Su Jin Long’s words were not wrong. If their family only had a single egg, then it would be first given to Su Mian.

When Su Mian saw her dark and thin younger brother, her heart ached. Their family situation was bad and it was clear that Su Jin Long was malnourished.

“Stinky brat, watch your words. And, where have you been the entire day? Don’t make me break your legs!” He Qin picked up a broom and really wanted to hit Su Jin Long.

“Mother, if you break my legs, then who will take care of you in the future? You can’t count on Su Mian!” Su Jin Long blurted out while escaping outside.

Su Jin Long ran quite fast. If He Qin were really angry, she would surely hit him. However, she treated his sister differently.

“Mother, Xiao Long is still young. We’ll teach him properly in the future.” Su Mian got up and put down the medical book in her hands. This was a book she had asked her father to borrow from the county library.

He Qin thought she had heard wrong, and the broom in her hand onto the floor.

Was there ever a time when Su Mian talked to her in such a tender voice?

In the past, Su Mian would only order her around and He Qin could only listen in fear. She was afraid that she would say something wrong that would make Su Mian unhappy.

She had married into the family for 13 years, and Su Mian had never once called her ‘mother’!

“Xiao Mian, what did you call me just now?” He Qin asked in shock. Her voice carried excitement as Su Mian had actually called her ‘mother’.

Su Mian was ashamed. From He Qin’s reaction, she knew how much of a wretch she used to be in the past.

“Mother, forgive me. I will treat you better in the future.” Su Mian took two steps forward and held He Qin’s hands.

He Qin’s hands were rough with thick calluses as a result of farming all year round.

In her previous life, she always felt that He Qin had stolen the place of her birth mother. She was afraid that because of her stepmother, her father would forget about her birth mother.

However, He Qin did not falter. She would always smile no matter how unpleasant Su Mian’s words were.
