Chapter 81 Land belongs to the country

In the afternoon, He Qin and Su Jiang Hai estimated who they would invite for Su Mian’s engagement. In this period, engagements in rural villages meant having a meal with the relatives of the two families.

He Qin’s two brothers must be invited as they normally helped with the Su family’s work quite often. They helped with planting seeds in spring, weeding in summer, and harvesting in autumn. They were very good to the Su family and regarded Su Mian and Su Jin Long as their own niece and nephew.

The Su family did not have many relatives. Su Jiang Hai had an uncle on his mother’s side in the neighboring village. His uncle only had one son who grew up with Su Jiang Hai and they had a good relationship. They had stuck together until both of them married.

Apart from that, Su Jiang Hai’s two younger brothers were also in Apricot Village so it would be fine to just go to their homes and call them when the time came.

Su Mian’s biological mother also had two older brothers. Usually, they would not come over if nothing had happened but they still visited the Su family’s house every Lunar New Year. They must notify them of Su Mian’s engagement.

In the afternoon, Su Jiang Hai took Su Jin Long to a few relatives’ homes to invite them.

The next day, after eating breakfast, Su Mian’s yard was full of people who had come to watch Su Mian perform surgery.

After New Year, the temperature was rising and the heavy snow that had fallen before the New Year was now beginning to melt.

The weather was becoming warmer and the yard was full of mud. However, the villagers did not care about this and just wanted to crowd around to watch. The moment they heard that Su Mian was going to operate on her youngest aunt, some of them ran over without even eating breakfast.

The strange thing was that Xiao Gao’s wife was not standing at the gate eating an apple today. If it was in the past, how could she be willing to miss such a lively event?

“Surgery requires using a knife, can Su Mian do it?”

“Who knows, she may be using her youngest aunt to try using a knife for surgery. She is a relative anyway.” Someone was delighted in the misfortune of others.

“Surgery is not the same as prescribing some medicine. Drinking Chinese herbal medicine for a couple more or a couple less days would not kill anyone, but surgery is a test of skills.”

“Heh, does Su Mian have the skills? She only read a few old books and she might not even be able to graduate from highschool.” Bai Yu Lan’s words were neither hostile nor friendly.

When they saw that the person who spoke was Bai Yu Lan, everyone fell silent immediately.

The whole village knew about Bai Yu Lan visiting the Wei family to propose marriage and they even knew that she had agreed to give them another five mu of land.

Pah, where did she have such a big face? The land belonged to the country, yet she spoke of it like it was her family’s property!

In the end, the Wei family refused and would not marry her daughter.

Haha, a few people snickered, then the crowd was unable to hold back and laughed loudly. A person needed to have conscience, how could you use something that belongs to everyone to curry favour with someone?

Bai Yu Lan swept her gaze around coldly. Before, as the wife of the village chief, everyone still gave her a bit of face.

Yet nobody paid attention to her today and did not even look at her. Bai Yu Lan was so angry that her liver ached yet she was unwilling to go home. She just had to see with her own eyes how Su Mian, this vixen, killed someone!

Su Mian asked Xiao Liu Zi and a couple of the younger and older kids to guard the door, telling them not to let any of them in.

The kids obeyed Su Mian’s order. Three of them stood by the front door and three at the back door, like little guards.

Su Mian had good hearing and naturally, she heard everything they said.

[Are you made of bad luck? In this broken village where birds would not even crap on, a surgery can cause such a sensation. Truly admirable!] When Wen Wen finished speaking, he looked at Su Mian and gave her a thumbs up.

Su Mian paid him no need. She was preparing preoperative anesthesia right now. Although her youngest aunt was only going to undergo a minimally invasive surgery, Su Mian was still going to give her a full body anaesthesia so that she could drag her into the operating room in the tower space.

Separated by the yard, Su Hong stood looking at the crowd of people filling up Su Mian’s yard with a malicious expression, delighted at her misfortune.
