Chapter 3.2: The True Miss (3)

Qiao Xiyin froze at this spot, her face white, and speechless. The situation between the original owner and Qiao Xinyi had only spread between a small circle of people in the grade. Before changing class, the original owner was in the same class as Qiao Xinyi. Both people had taken a two day vacation and the situation had disturbed the school. There were already people speculating, and rumors had already circulated a number of times.

Dear Readers. Scrapers have recently been devasting our views. At this rate, the site (creativenovels .com) might...let's just hope it doesn't come to that. If you are reading on a scraper site. Please don't.

But since the parties implicated had not publicly talked about it, everyone could only secretly guess.

As far as the last name goes, it was the first thing the original owner agreed to after arriving at the Qiao home.

She never liked the Chen family and the only person she was close to was her grandma. Since grandma’s last name wasn’t Chen, she didn’t have any reluctance to change. It was just a last name, a change is just a change.

Qiao Xiyin’s original last name is also Qiao, so when she introduced herself it naturally came out as Qiao.

Chang Shilin clashed with the person, baring teeth, “Qiao Xiyin just came to our class. How do you know whether her last name is Chen or Qiao? You saw her moving the desk and didn’t help.”

Her class popularity was probably very good, as the person who spoke was a guy. It was just an unintentional comment, but after hearing it, he felt that it was logical and immediately got up to help move the desk.

During early study, the teacher in charge called Qiao Xiyin up to the podium to introduce herself. Under the system, each class would have a lot or a little change. But, it was only Qiao Xiyin who had skipped two classes and entered into Class 0.

People with good words will always leave a very good first impression.

The students in the class saw Qiao Xiyin write her name beautifully and also heard her  introduction, so they already had a lot of good feelings for her. In addition, the teacher in charge had said on the side, “Fellow student Qiao Xiyin was number 23 at last month’s test. Her language arts ranking was this grade’s third place. Don’t underestimate the new student.”

Class 0 only had forty-five people, so 23rd was about average. But in the last two classes, it was very rare, so everyone’s good feeling had turned into admiration.

“Oh my god, looks like the new student was hiding her abilities. Class representative Chang, you should be careful.”

“Hahaha, not only the class representative, the pressure on us has gotten larger.”

“Don’t joke around. The new student will be embarrassed.”

Qiao Xiyin wasn’t embarrassed. In her eyes, these seventeen, eighteen-year-olds in high school were like children. But she stood there with a reserved smile, that looked like shyness in everyone’s eyes.

Because she was a new extra member, Qiao Xiyin enthusiastically moved her desk to the last row in the corner.

It was now the review period. She used the entire morning to flip through the textbooks. With the original owner’s memories, reaching the original owner’s level wasn’t hard. In regards to the original owner’s language arts, Qiao Xiyin was confident she could be even better.

So, Chang Shilin was the class representative. No wonder she was willing to take care of new students.

In the afternoon review class, there was a new seating chart. The extra seat due to Qiao Xiyin had to sit in the third row who’s neighbor was Chang Shilin. This test had thrown out one person. Qiao Xiyin did not notice at this time. Until the seating arrangement came out, she listed her name in the empty spot and the people in the class had become an even number.

This was her first time experiencing a normal highschool lifestyle. Everything was new and unusual.

Qiao Xiyin was very good at social interactions. After half a day, she struck up a conversation with the classmates sitting next to her. Her personality was different from the original owner. The original owner didn’t talk and didn’t like to talk. In her class, she had quietly gotten first place in the class, but she was the opposite. Even though she lost thousands of years of memories, she still retained the most basic cultivating rudiments. The charisma in her bones were not little and as she continued to converse with these Humanities students, she had gained a group of admiring eyesights.

After finishing the afternoon review, the Qiao family car was parked outside of the school. Qiao Xiyin then waved goodbye to her classmates.

First High was the city’s best high school and it was not lacking in rich students. Even if the roads were wide in the entrance, the private cars that came to pick up their students had jammed the road to the point that even water could not pass through.

Qiao Xiyin noted the license plate and found the car parked near the sidewalk. She sat in the backseat and greeted the driver. Then, she watched the Qiao Xinyi who was walking and talking with classmates.

Almost at the same time, Qiao Xinyi’s expression shifted and opened the front passenger seat door.

She basically suffered under an entire day of classmate’s laughter. Even if she closed her eyes, she could still see the probing and gossipy gazes.Hearing classmates ask her why she and Chen Xiyin took a vacation at the same time and Classroom 13’s people say that Chen Xiyin changed her last name to Qiao, Qiao Xinyi became vexed. After she cleared her throat at them, she could obviously feel their shunning, and even those classmates that were close to her had the way they looked at her change.

On the subject of Qiao Xinyi’s First High acceptance, the Qiao family’s generous support to many First High events is one of the reasons, but she also had a little talent in studying. After separating into subjects*, her grades had become average. Luckily, she didn’t fall in ranking so in the future, testing into college was not a big problem.

*After a certain grade, some schools in China separate their students between Humanities/Language Arts and STEM.

And after getting to this class, she was extremely charitable. Many of the class events were mostly funded by her, and every birthday she had would be celebrated at a hotel with the entire class. She even often sent other girls expensive birthday gifts. On the surface, it would seem she was very popular. Everywhere she walked would have a group of girls surrounding her, so today’s interaction was the first time she experienced this.

Everything was Qiao Xiyin’s fault. If she doesn’t appear here, everything will be good.

Mrs. Qiao, who always waited at the doorway, didn’t come out. The person who grabbed their backpacks was Housekeeper Li who quietly said, “Young ladies, there’s a visitor at home. DOn’t bother Mr. and Mrs.”

Qiao Xiyin profusely thanked Housekeeper Li for her good intentions. She carried her own backpack and walked forward, politely saying hello. Qiao Xinyi had a full face of disdain and felt that the girl’s entire body was a pretense with capital letters.

Who was she faking such politeness for, it was just a housekeeper.

Then, Housekeeper Li pushed open the estate’s door.

Qiao Xinyi and Qiao Xiyin stopped their footsteps almost at the same time.

In the living room, Mr. and Mrs. Qiao were sitting on the sofa. Across from them was a young man with a fitted suit. His figure was tall, lips slightly bent, and his expression languid and noble. He was having a lighthearted conversation with the Qiao family couple, talking and laughing.

Qiao Xinyi’s voice was full of happiness, “Older brother Yunchao!”

Qiao Xiyin held herself back and covered up the smile at the corner of her lips.

The young man’s luck was already at the purple level. It was obvious that he had accumulated a lot of luck. She could already feel her body’s magic power cheering excitedly, and she hated the fact that she couldn’t immediately pounce over.

But, the young man’s aura was enough. Even being in the same room was enough for her to freeload a little bit.

“Xinyi and Xiao Yin came,” Hearing Qiao Xinyi’s voice, the Qiao mother’s lips raised, “Yunchao, this is my younger daughter Xiyin.”

The one being called over, Qiao Xiyin shyly walked over but her heart was full of unstoppable joy. If only she could get closer.

She really wanted to get closer qaq*.

*I think this is supposed to be some kind of emoticon.

“This is Brother Yunchao, a family friend. He’s here to stay at our home for a couple days. Don’t regard him as an outsider. Call him the same way Xinyi calls him.” Mrs. Qiao pulled at Qiao Xiyin, letting her sit next to her.

Qiao Xiyin obediently called, “Brother Yunchao.”

The young man nodded slightly, his pupils masking the estrangement. In regards to Qiao Xinyi’s address, he didn’t even have a reaction.

Qiao Xinyi sat by Mr. Qiao, biting her lip until it almost bled. She thought “Brother Yunchao” was an address only she could use.

Mrs. Qiao looked at the young man across from her, her eyebrows barely masking the admiration.

Before, she was talking to He Yunchao about the Qiao family situation. Even though he wasn’t much older than the Qiao family daughters, he was already the He family’s leader. If her daughter could even be half as worry-free as he was, all would be well.
