Barely an hour had passed since Nick’s arrival on the battle scene, and he and the other Werfur mages had cleaned up all the demons. Once Nick had appeared, there were no losses for the Werfur mages.
Nick lost all his Anubites in the first round of battle. But within moments, he summoned the creatures again.
With the use of his Sonic Bullet, which was powerful against these creatures who had no defence or speed to escape the bullets, Nick was unstoppable.
Enemy mages attacked Nick as well. They coordinated an attack on him twice including using a powerful magical spell but before they could incur any damage, Nick used Sonic Bullets to kill them.
The experienced battlemage that he was, Rabial was aware of this spell. It was called ‘Void Fireball’. A fireball spell that had both space and fire elements in it. It was borderline use of Law or ‘Law Magic’ but Nick was blissfully unaware of this. His shield was capable of blocking this spell without much effort anyway.
After the battle concluded, Nick picked up two fire-demon mage corpses and some Imp Demon corpses for experiment and knowledge gathering.
Rabial and the other Werfur mages were still digesting the fact that they won a war such as this in just under an hour. They knew exactly the reason why but they were still wrapping their heads around it.
The smell of blood and corpses filled up the forest, corrupting its fresh breeze. If one was not experienced with battle scenes and dead bodies, the sheer exposure to the atmosphere, the stench of death and the sense of gloom would make their stomachs revolt.
Fortunately, Rabial and the other Werfurs were not affected by this event. They had no sympathy or even a distressed look on their faces, seeing the lifeless bodies around them.
For them, this was not an event worth mulling over. The case was the same for Nick as well.
After the battle with humans, Nick was accustomed to the scene of gore and blood, and the smell of demons or human corpses.

As soon as they had breathing space, Rabial walked over to Epsilon for a conversation. Rabial had bewilderment written all over his face, and Nick believed it would stay there for some time. The sudden appearance of demons at the Underbroom Cave truly shocked the Werfurs.
“It seems that everything we knew about the Underbroom Cave was not the complete truth. We must explore the ruins in this cave some more. Do you want to join us for this?”
Nick nodded and answered.
“Of course, but if we are going to take more mages with us, try to pick only three out of your most trusted, powerful and versatile mages. Entering with many mages is not the best idea. And we would need the other mages to protect the cave’s entrance while we are inside, so there are no sneak attacks on us.”
Rabial understood what Epsilon meant, and there was nothing wrong with this strategy. They were most likely to encounter threats in the ruins. Rabial agreed that it was wiser to limit the number of people entering the cave so they could control the situation inside, irrespective of whatever surprises the Underbroom Cave threw at them. At the same time, protecting the cave was important too.
Should they be attacked from the front and back, it would be catastrophic.
Rabial immediately handpicked three Werfur mages and introduced them to Epsilon.
One of the Werfur mages was a sightly old and harsh looking male Werfur. He did not speak too much and just introduced himself.
“Nice to meet you, Lord Epsilon, Golden Document Carrier and Helper of the Werfurs. I am Renderim.” Epsilon acknowledged with a nod in reply.
The second Werfur mage was a Werfur woman mage who appeared relatively young by Werfur standards. Differently from the others, there were pink and blue colors on the head of this Werfur female. It seemed like she dyed her hair with these colors.
Compared to the older Werfur male mage, this Werfur female looked more outgoing and sociable with others.
“I am happy that Lord Epsilon is with us. Thank you for your help, I am Rindy.”
Nick smiled and nodded. He liked these kinds of sunshine personalities that seemed to have a way to put some kind of happiness in others lives.
The last Werfur mage that Rabial picked up was a young male Werfur. He was an ordinary-looking Werfur with no distinct personality traits.
“Thank you for helping us Lord Epsilon. I am Randy, Rindy’s brother.”
This was a bit surprising for Nick but he did not say anything other than nodding. With the basic introductions out of the way, Rabial informed Nick more about the mages’ skillsets so that he had a better understanding of their battle abilities.
Renderim was a battle-mage, who was more experienced than Rabial himself. He was proficient in long-range and area damage, light and plant energy spells. With his earlier experiences, the team would have more battle-power against their enemies.
Rindy was an Illusionist and an Explorer. Her battle capabilities were average but considering that she was capable of calming or inducing fear in enemies with her spells and abilities, and was capable of finding traps and breaking mazes, she was a strong ally to be reckoned with.
Randy was a close-combat mage which was rare for Werfurs. He was capable of summoning five different types of creatures and preferred to create light and plant swords for himself, to enter the battle with his summons. He could work as a tank and a close-combat fighter for their group.
Nick was satisfied with this team composition because of the diversity of their skillsets.
Before entering, everyone in the team prepared by regenerating their energy.
This was especially required for Nick, who exhausted a significant pool of his magical energy in the last battle. He needed some rest before entering what promised to be a dangerous place.
Nick understood that in usual circumstances, he could not use Ether Stones to upgrade his level and magical power, but this was not the case right now. Right now, as his energy depleted, he could use Ether Stones to regenerate his power and upgrade both his level and magical power.
Considering that he was sitting on a plush sum of around 1,95,000 Ether Stones, there was no worry in his mind that he would be short of Ether Stones in the future.
The encounter with the Void Hunter Rat was indeed dangerous and at that moment, Nick did feel that he was at the end of the line, but now, it seemed it was more profitable than he initially thought it was.
