When my vision is back, I see myself in the middle of a village surrounded by forest.
“Thank you for coming!”
I snap from my thoughts and look to my left. There is a group of people wearing leather armor and holding a weapon in their hands. The one that talks to me is an elderly-looking elf wearing a white robe and holding a walking stick in his hand.
“My name is Silia-Tu, the village head of this village. May I know the name of our benefactor?”
I walk toward the elder and say.
“My name is Riser Phenex. I’m the leader of this party. Let me introduce my party members. This is Darnell…”
“Yo!”
“Varun.”
“It’s… Nice… To… Meet… You…”
“Kurata Kagawa”
“….”
I waited for the fat bastard to say something, and seeing he did not want to say something; I decided to introduce Hermione.
“Lastly, Hermione Granger.”
“Greetings.”
Silia-Tu nods his head before saying.
“Greetings to you all. Please follow me to our tent. I will explain the situation to you.”
I nodded my head and followed him to the tent nearby. If not for the company guaranteed for our safety around these people, I will hesitate walking inside the headquarters of a stranger. While the company can guarantee our safety around these people and can be reassured that they will not betray us, the same cannot be said to the monster that will come.
Anyway, we sat down on the tent floor while the Silia-Tu ordered some young women to prepare some tea.
“What do you want to know first?”
“The enemy. Do you know how many of them, their strengths and their weaknesses?”
Silia-Tu nods his head before saying.
“This monster wave mostly consisted of Orc, Ogre, and Cyclops. However, we know that there will be a smaller monster coming along as well. While we did not know the exact number of them, we know that more than one thousand monsters are coming here.”
“Hmmm… Is there any reason why you did not ask the help of other people in the area?”
After I said that, his expression began to change. The kind and warm grandpa changes into a war-hardened veteran.
“We can’t. We are elves, and they are humans. We are nothing but slaves to them. The only elven kingdom in this world is too far away from our location. That is why when the company comes to us, we accept their contract.”
“I see. I’m sorry for asking that”
I bow a little.
“No, you don’t need to apologize. You need information, and I give it to you.”
“Thank you. Now let us talk about the monster’s weakness.”
Silia-Tu nods his head and says.
“While they all are different races, they have one thing in common. They have thick skin. Their skin is so thick that a normal weapon cannot pierce it. Lucky for us, we have enough weapons that can pierce through their skin. Unfortunately for us, it is only enough to equip our people and not yours.”
I look at my companion, and they have various expressions on their faces. The first one is Darnell.
“Heh, never underestimate the weapon created by the dwarves.”
“En… Weapons… From…. Dwarves…”
I look at the fat bastard, and to my surprise, he has the decency to say.
“I only have a gun and a few ammo.”
“A normal gun?”
“Yes. Pistol and normal ammo, not the armor-piercing round.”
Damn. I don’t think it will work. I have a feeling that his pistol will be useless in this fight.
“Chief, do you have any spare weapons? A weapon that you think can pierce their thick skin but not too sure about it?”
“Yes. We have.”
“Then can you please give Kurata Kugawa over here that weapon?”
“Of course.”
“Thank you.”
I nod my head at Kurata before looking at the village chief and ignoring Kurata, who frowned at me.
“Now, let us continue. Is there any weakness we can exploit?”
“Yes. The orc has a soft spot behind its neck. Ogre is weak against magical attacks. Lastly, Cyclops has weaknesses, and it was their eyes.”
“Hmmm…. Do all of them have resistance to magic?”
“Fortunately for us, no. While they can take a few magic spells coming at them, they did not have resistance against magical attacks. That is why a magician is really a blessing right now. Are you a magician?”
“Hermione and I are magicians.”
“Then the chance of our survival is increased by much.”
“We also bring a magical trap with us. Hermione, please show them.”
Hermione nodded her head and put down the trunk. She opens it up and takes the Moleskin pouch that contains the rune traps. Hermione took out one of the samples and put it on the table.
“This trap will be detonated when a living is stepped inside its range. The range of this trap is three meters long. It also will explode when something heavy lands on it, so we need to make sure where the monster will come.”
The village chief nods his head, takes a map from inside his clothes, and places it on the table.
“This is where the monster will be coming out.”
The village chief pointed at a cave symbol not too far away from the village symbol.
“It is three kilometers away from this village, so we have good enough time before the monster arrives. We predict they will walk through this place.”
The village elder pointed his finger at a pathway between two mountain symbols.
“This is the only path we can think of they will choose. I don’t think they will choose the other route because they need to cross a very deep river filled with carnivorous monsters that are eager to eat their fellow monsters who decide to take a swim.”
“Hmmm. We can plant the trap on that small road. What do you think?”
“I’m thinking the same. However, I suggest we do not plant all of the traps in one place. There is a place I think is a good place to be used for the trap.”
“Do tell.”
“Here”
The village chief pointed at the road halfway to the monster spawn point.
“What is something special about this place?”
“We already place our own traps there. This place is surrounded by thick forest. We use this place as a place for a human invader, but I thought it was a good place to slow down the monster.”
“Hmmm. I don’t think that place will be really effective for this kind of trap. However, I will give seventy of the rune traps to be planted here.”
“Understood.”
“Do you have people that you can send to this narrow path? I need them to plant all this rune.”
“Of course, I will send the fastest elves we have.”
“Good. I want them to plant these rune traps thirty centimeters deep on the ground and need five meters away from each rune trap. Tell them that they can use all of the traps, but if the area is already filled with traps and there is a rune left, they need to plant it to the place you want earlier. If there is something left, bring it here so we can discuss where we can plant them.”
“Understood.”
“Good, While you do that, I need to create a barrier around this village. When do you think they will arrive?”
“If the scout is right, they will start moving in two days and arrive here in the evening.”
“Damn. Meaning we need to fight at night.”
“That is right.”
“Very well. I think I have enough time to make a decent barrier around the village. Do you have a jewel I can use?”
“Yes, we have unused jewels. I will order someone to give it to you.”
“Good. Let’s get to work.”

I look at Riser Phenex with a frown on my face. I never thought that I would have to work with that bastard. I never like his character in both anime and books. He is nothing but a ‘young master’ type of character.
Acting high and mighty, but in the end, he is nothing but a coward and pervert.
I loathe him and his characteristics. He gets so many women licking his feet because he is nothing but a rich young master to a rich clan. Peh. What a bastard.
“You know, lad. If not for the company, I thought you wanted to kill our leader.”
“Heh. If I buy enough power, I will kill him.”
“That is a dangerous thinking lad. What does our leader do for you to hate him?”
“He is nothing but a coward. He is a lazy person, a pervert, and a coward. He did not work to get what he wanted. Peh”
I ignored the dwarf expression as I said that. He did not know anything after all.
“He is a coward? Lazy? Pervert? Lad, I don’t know what your problem is but to me, our young leader is a decent person. He will never accept this mission if he is a coward. He will not give his all to protect the people here if he is a lazy person. Pervert? All living beings are perverted.”
“Peh. You did not know anything. Just you wait. He will abandon us when the situation gets dire.”
I walk away from the dwarf and take the sword one of the elves gets for me. I did not hear what both Darnell and Varun were behind my back.
“What with that c***?”
“Jealousy…”
“Heh. I know it. Varun keeps an eye on him, will you? I don’t want him stabbing our leader’s back.”
“I… Will… Do… That…”
“Good lad.”
