At least Starlette knew the 5-Day Policy85-Day PolicyA policy administered by High Officials, although used in drastic measures, remains controversial from its restriction of being allowed to leave your home once per week. was coming back–especially in 14 days, no less. Firstly, it does nothing but make everything more difficult; secondly, it limits outdoor exposure. She hated those types of policies to her very core, alongside coming up with a plan so she stayed occupied within and not hellbent on leaving her home.
She still wasn’t clued in on what exactly caused such a drastic change of measures. Were the High Official4High OfficialA form of work which involves the eradication of Monsters and its sub-species.s getting paranoid or something?
Feeling like her brain had been beaten to a pulp, Starlette lay on Celeste’s bed for a bit. This respite was short-lived as she came right into contact with an empty bag of Delectables1DelectablesA brand of chips known for their sweet and sugary flavors., the bag’s crumbling sounds caused the lady to flinch right back up.
Although her friend Celeste defined it as her “living naturally;” this natural living space seemed impossible: bedsheets were jumbled, dirty clothes were sprawled on the floor, and pillows were littered about (one of them wasn’t even in its casing). Starlette could barely get a good refresher in this landscape, at least the bed felt softer, however.
She tidied up the bedsheets to make them semi-clean, that would be until an extremely late thought came to fruition. ‘Why don’t I just ask him?‘
Starlette hastily refuted as Celeste would fail during a quick-time event, ‘No, no–Hydrangea’s probably off busy somewhere.’ Not to mention, he could be going through his troubles right now. She would feel terrible for disturbing his peace, her mind could do nothing but repeatedly dwell on the scenario.
Before her mind drifted off to Limbo, Starlette was pulled back up by her friend–who must have already finished that game of hers. Celeste scrolled through her phone after setting the controller down. “Since you’re here now, we can probably snatch some grub to eat,” she suggested.
A fresh meal sounded superb, but most places were already closed thanks to this lockdown. She would be better off eating leftovers or snacks kept in this messy home.
“Most places are already out of service due to the policy change, though,” she mentioned, obviously doubtful at the prospect of an open store located anywhere in BloodMoon City7BloodMoon CityFounded on the 29th of Mercury, 1921; BloodMoon is a major city based in Ring County that is home to various brands, companies, and people..
Celeste remained hopeful, somehow. “Maybe we can stop at the coffee shop you like?”
Starlette cocked her head in confusion. “The Grinded Rooster Bean? Since when did you like coffee?” the lady poked fun at the offer.
“I just like their hot chocolate,” she answered, then rolled her eyes playfully. “You go there often, so I thought it would help.” Her friend shifted focus back to her phone and searched the café.
Did Celeste become a part-time clairvoyant? Because she hit right on the mark, unless this was a symptom of being best friends for years.
A refreshing environment, that wasn’t a nonsensical television, would help tremendously. In a daydream, she smelt the warm, cozy, vanilla scents coming straight out of the windows. She was sadly brought back down by a slight nudge to get an answer. The half-blondie stammered in embarrassment, “Uh-yeah, yeah, I-I don’t mind.”
“Heh, I’ll let you order your usual.”
Knowing that ‘the usual’ was lengthy, Celeste handed her phone to Starlette, who began plugging in her order through the shop’s app. Her order seemed over-complicated compared to just a simple hot chocolate; to be frank, she would keep it like that.
As time flew by, with Ms. Luminous still writing down her order, she nearly forgot how her other friends were doing. Not like they didn’t matter, or anything. “How’s everyone else holding up?” she asked, turning towards her friend. “I sort of fell asleep while reading through the group chat last night.”
Celeste gave a small hum before collecting her thoughts. “Solaire mentioned earlier that this is his last day at work,” she mentioned, and continued prepping for the outdoors.
‘Yeesh, his last day?‘ Starlette thought to herself. Well, it made sense because of the upcoming policy change; but surprising to hear, nonetheless.
She wouldn’t want to stop at Solaire’s workplace to annoy him, (at least for the most part), especially on his last day. She can practically hear Solaire whining all over again. “Only Hydrangea would do something so stupid,” he’d say, “not to mention he’d also bring his pals to get under my skin.”
It was impossible to hold back a small giggle from how frustrated he would get with them; it was just too funny to her.
The smell of those fruity drinks he served gave a pungent odor that could kill her, beyond whatever hyperbole Starlette made up. “And try not to groan about Solaire serving slushies so loudly,” Celeste suggested angrily.
She lifted her hands as if questioning some deity. “Like–come on, lady,” her friend complained, “do you have to bully him?” She made a faint grumble under her breath, then left to search for her glasses.
While Starlette waited in her friend’s room, she waltzed up to get a pleasant view of the scenery and decor around her. Besides the Enemies to: MAIM thing she saw earlier, there were some new additions to it; a couple of figurines were displayed on one shelf, another poster on the inside of the room’s door, and the computer mouse got itself a new Moon Bow-themed pad.
The room kept its nostalgic nature since her last visit months ago. She ceased her cordial snooping upon Celeste returning with the glasses in hand.
Her friend pulled out a handkerchief to clean its lens while she spoke. “Let’s get a move on,” she ushered, “I ordered my drink already, so you don’t need to worry again.” Celeste held the door open for Starlette, closing it on her way out. However, another decision was to be made before they could get their move on.
“You want to walk or take a bus, if there are any?” Starlette asked before opening the front door.
“Walking is easier,” replied her friend, “Let’s hurry it up, our coffees are going to get cold!” Celeste playfully shoved Starlette, which knocked off her balance but still got her feet rolling.
The two made their way to a local Grinded Rooster Bean a few streets away. A bright, vermilion sky greeted them; along with a dash of cool wind hitting for the evening. Starlette let out a relieved sigh at the pleasant spring weather, meanwhile, Celeste loudly sneezed upon impact.
