“Human’s, from now on, you have only two options: cry and die now, or become strong and die later.”
His gaze turned towards me, and he said, “Every human incapable of mana will die right now.”
I heard a blast, and before me, on the bridge, a woman holding a baby. The baby’s skull suddenly exploded, and then more explosions erupted all over the bridge
In a few fractions of a second, the view before me completely changed. Just a minute ago, people of all ages were there, as usual, but now, everywhere I looked, there was blood and broken body parts, skulls.
In this situation, out-of-place thoughts began to surface. I’d always wanted superpowers, or for powers to suddenly appear in the world, but this wasn’t what I’d imagined. I wanted to be reincarnated into some fantasy world, to live an overpowered main character’s life, without struggle or the power of friendship.
For a second, I was almost happy, like a dream come true, but it was far more brutal than I’d ever imagined. It happened so suddenly that I couldn’t grasp it. I stood frozen on the bridge
“Wha… what th…”
Someone grabbed my shoulder and shook me.
“Huh… wha…”
“Hey, are you okay? Nothing happened to you, right?”
I didn’t know who he was, but if he hadn’t shaken me, I don’t know how long I would have remained unresponsive.
Suddenly, a voice boomed from above.
“Humans, you have passed the first test. All the rotten fish have been thrown away. Now it’s time for the next stage. You have one week. In one week, you must kill at least one human. If you pass, you will live a little longer. If you fail, you will be executed.”
He vanished in a fraction of a second.
“Hey, where did he go? He just vanished,” someone said.
There were only eight of us left. Everyone else had died before we could even process what had happened. Then, that guy gave us another impossible task.
Except for two including me, everyone was crying, overwhelmed with sorrow, fear, and shock. I was also scared, also shocked, but I didn’t cry. Every inch of me was terrified, and I wanted to cry, but I couldn’t. If I did, maybe these people would kill me. After all, everyone wanted to survive, and everyone needed to kill someone before next week.
“Hey, everyone,” the guy from before said, we should leave this place and find shelter. We need to call the police. Don’t worry, the government will help us.”
It was difficult to control our emotions in that state, but everyone nodded, and we went to a nearby mall.
